Favorite Primetime Dramas/Reality Shows/Soap Operas

Post by DisneyGirl »

Since there was one for sitcoms, I thought I'd start one for dramas since I personally watch more PT Dramas and other stuff than sit coms.

My Faves:

CSI: Vegas
Only Vegas, I only catch Miami when I happen to be in front of the TV and it's on.

Law & Order: SVU
This show reruns about five times a day everyday where I live, I LOVE it!

Without A Trace
I used to love this show, but it's only okay as of late...I only watch it because it's on after CSI.

Survivor
Sadly, I've only seen the first two seasons of Survivor (Borneo aka Pulau Tiga, and Outback) and the 8th season (All Stars). I'm planning on watching the next season though (Vanuatu) which begins on September 16 assuming I'm not to busy with my full time school and full time work schedules.
General Hospital
Ah! I started watching this in the seventh grade, and continued well through high school. I stopped watching though when Brenda 'died' and Sonny left. Started watching again just in time for Brenda to make a short return after Sonny had come back. Stopped for good when they recast Lucky Spencer, Nikolas Cassadine and Carly Benson/Spencer/Cassadine (not sure what name she's going by now). All in all, I would watch it again, but I just don't have the time to catch up since most of the characters are new.

ER - It's really the only drama I've gotten into it, and it's several years past its prime now. I really enjoy the first few seasons, and the show was always involving when it was good.

In some ways, I'm glad I haven't gotten into more hour-long series, as I'd surely be impoverished with my "Gotta Have It on DVD" mentality and was buying season sets of X-Files, Star Trek, etc.

I don't watch the modern daytime shows. The only one I even like is 8 Simple Rules. That is about it. I think that the modern stuff is extremely immoral.

Oh good grief! How could I forget ER!

Thanks for reminding me Luke!

That's another show I'm collecting on DVD.

DVD on TV collection currently includes:
CSI, Friends, and ER. I also have Angel 1-3 and Buffy 1-5 but I don't think I'm going to finish the series, I'm actually contemplating selling them.

Well not the biggest fan of these genres but, here's my list:
  • ER - My mom always watches it, so I've seen enough of it to like it.

CSI - I watch it when nothing else is on. It's a good show, but the concept can only work for so long.

Survivor - I've seen Outback, a lil bit of Africa, Thailand, a lil bit of Amazon, and was hooked on Pearls Islands. I must've watched every second of All- Stars! I like the idea for the show, and how there's always a new twist for each season. I'm really looking forward to Vanuatu, tho it's reminds of a Amazon/Pearl Islands mix.

The Amazing Race - This must be one of the most innovative, and thoroughly thought out reality shows ever. I see an episode when I can, but have never really been hooked on it. I am enjoying this season tho when i catch it.

The Apprentice - When I first heard the idea, it sounding exactly like Survivor in New York. "Time to discover the survivor of the real jungle: New York. The Apprentice starring Donald Trump!"  . I was truly hooked on this show; funny how it was on the hour after Survivor: All-Stars! Stupid Omarosa; she was really a b**ch; there was this hilarious skit about her and that drywall chip on SNL Weekend Update (I think I'll find it and post it here). I am looking forward to the next installment this fall!

The O.C. - Tho I wasnt completely hooked on this show, I think I will give it a run on DVD this fall. I caught maybe 3 episodes, and loved them; but I guess it wasnt good enough to warrent taking this out every monday (or was it wed.?). Funny story: When it first aired, I think I saw the third eppy. At school, one of my first new friends asked me what shows I liked and I told her "The O.C.". She was like, "What's the oh see?". Anyways, three weeks later everyone in math class would talk about the latest episode, even our teacher (shes young). Talk about ironic?!
I really cant think of anymore right now....

Paul, that SNL skit (part of Weekend Update) was HILARIOUS. In fact, that whole episode is among my favorite SNLs. My friends and I were rollin'.

www.fallonfey.com is the best for Weekend Update video, but they've recently started deleting their archives due to space, so I dunno if the clip will still be there.

I've also become hopelessly addicted to North Shore.
Filmed right here where I live, it's so neat to see my friends on the show from time to time.

24, Alias, and Smallville are the only dramas that I watch, and I love them all. I own all of the currently released seasons on DVD for each of them.

I would possibly try to get into some other shows, but I think that I'm already spending too much money on the shows I buy now.

I don't really follow any soaps or even reality shows (since there seems to be too many of them these days). OK, Airport (the British show from Heathrow airport) is pretty good, but that's more like a docusoap than a reality show anyway.

Of dramas, ER has been on my top 5 list since it started, and still is. And although the following may be mini series more than tv dramas, I love Anne of Green Gables (and its sequels), The Road to Avonlea, and all British period dramas. Band of Brothers was another well executed production.

I don't watch that many, and the ones I do watch have mostly finished but I can't go past:

Law and Order Franchise (with the exception of SVU, which I never got into). I love the fact that in the original series we hardly learn anything about their personal lives, but the drama is still so spot on.

Sopranos: Probably won't be back for several years, but some excellent writing there.

But really, drama isn't my thing. I prefer comedy when I watch TV, but even then I don't watch much.

Reality

I absolutely love Survivor and really I think there was only one weak/boring series(the one Brian one). I also like the Amazing Race, but more for the places they visit than the actual game which does not seem to be able to cast interesting people.

Dramas

CSI the original is about all I watch with any regularity. Rockford Files is my favorite of all time.

Soap Operas

I really like Knotts Landing growing up, but cant say I have watched any in about 15 years.

The only two shows I watch are the Amazing Race and the Mole. Hopefully the Mole will come back, but I doubt it will. Having celebrities made the show boring.

I too enjoyed The Mole, but I only watched the two celebrity seasons. The regular seasons just weren't as funny as watching Mark Curry make A.
