The reason for the change of trend is because some people complain about the Disney princesses being bad role model for woman and that they are too dependent on a man, but now there are some complaining about the recent trends of the Disney Protagonist personality. They said that they are all the same people but with just a different face and race and that sometimes they don't even reflect the time and place it takes place. Like it doesn't make sense for someone like Anna to be the way she is even when is isolated because as royalty she is expected to be more like her sister who is more refined and regal. I'm sure she would've received proper training on how she would act by like with a governess or something.
And some Colombians take note with Mirabel acting too 'Amercian' like she is too ill mannered (though I'm not sure specially how she acts Amecian I know her personality is a little similar to Rapunzel and Anna despite different setting and time period). I know this is a Disney movie and it's not supposed to be accurate, but wouldn't be interesting to see how our female protagonist would act in a certain setting and time period, because a female teenager from the 1820s is going to act different from a teenagers from the 2020s, you know?
But anyways, back to the main question. Do you enjoy the current trend of the adorkable personality? Or do you wish they would go back to the old fashioned way with the 3 og princesses or at least like the 90s Disney protagonist. Personally, I want a mix of both the 90s and the vintage princess. I really like the idea of a female protagonist who is quiet and strong. You don't need to be feisty and sassy to be strong and sometimes it could be counter productive to show it like that because it would portray that sassy protagonist as an insecure person who is all bark but no bites (this is kinda harsh sorry about that, but I'm not happy with the current portrayal of female characters at least in main stream Hollywood and I say this as a feminist. Feel free to disagree with me on this).
Like the protagonist of Persuasion from Jane Austen. She is quiet, strong, and mature. She went through a lot and she is a little depressed (not saying I want my protagonist to be depressed, but in this specific example she is). There are alot of teenagers with this personality especially the one who lives in conservative countries. Since Disney like to parades about how diverse they are, why don't they actually show diversity of personality too because just making characters a different race is not going to connect with a diverse group of people if the character doesn't match the culture they are from. Like it doesn't make sense for a protagonist from Afghanistan too act like an average American teenager girl because Afghanistan is extremely conservative and the woman are expected to get married young (which I personally disagree with as an Afghan) so the an average teenager Afghan girl is going to act different from an average American teenager. I'm using the Afghanistan example because I'm one and I know best about them and I'm not saying Disney should make a story based on Afghanistan, but considering lately they've showed interest in making stories from all over the world they need to take this in consideration, but they are not going to listen. They're just going to stick to the same old formula and it makes me a little depressed tbh.
Sorry for the ramble, I know what I said doesn't make much sense and I derailed from the original question, but I kinda had to put it out there because I wanted to see if someone agrees with me because you guys seem like a reasonable group of people
