Mean Girls

Post by Commodore Barbosa »

My girlfriend and I got passes to a sceening of Mean Girls last night. We had seen the previews, and thought it would be a fun movie, well fun is an understatement!

I can't remember a movie in recent memory that I laughed out loud this many times. And it wasn't that "stupid" humor that so many movies are saturated with anymore. The movie was intelligent, well paced, and wonderfully written. I couldn't recommend this movie more, and I really hope it does well in the theaters.

I was surprised to learn that the screenplay was written by SNL's Tina Fey, and you can tell! SNL's production company rarely produces movies that don't somehow tie in to a skit on the show, they went out on a limb and really made something special.

So it's a good movie?

I just saw the trailers online, so I was surprised to see:
1. Tina Fey (who now I just learned wrote the screenplay!) as the teacher
2. THREE ex-All My Children actors (Lacey Chabert, Amanda Seyfried, Jonathan Bennet) and ONE ex-Another World actor (Lindsay Lohan)
3. Rachel McAdams in a "mean" role (She's playing Allie in The Notebook)

And Lindsay Lohan is gonna be the host on SNL in May (I'm guessing May 1st?), so I'm sure there will be a spoof of Mean Girls?

Yes! I'm so glad you thought it was good, I want to see it very badly.
By the way, how old is Lindsey Lohan? She must be one of the youngest SNL hosters ever . . .

I think that Drew Barrymore was the youngest host of SNL wasn't she?

I actually first heard about this film almost a year ago when I read that Tina Fey had written a screenplay and that Lindsay Lohan would star in the film. I was excited about it then, but the previews don't look that appealing to me. Maybe because nothing comes off as extremely funny in it, however I love SNL and this film was produced by Lauren Michaels, so I will see it on opening day.

The whole commercial where they have the frienemies was hillarious.

I loved the dumb girl on the left in the commercial who is she?
