Favorite Character,Scene,&Song in Winnie the Pooh (1977)

Post by Lazario »

I had to scrunch in and cut off some of the title because it just wouldn't fit. Anyway, you know the drill. What is your favorite character, scene, and song from Disney's 1977 beloved package film and starter of a ginormous franchise, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh?

(Mine

Character: Rabbit

Song: "Heffalumps and Woozles"

Scene: the moment after Tigger is rescued from the tree but Rabbit reminds him of his promise to stop bouncing. The music here is SO insanely beautiful and even though I still like and feel sorry for Rabbit, I also felt bad for Tigger and wanted to hug him.)

Favorite song, hmm... They are all great, but... I guess I'll go with the Heffalump Song, though I think I have heard it too much lately. Never get tired of the opening Pooh theme though. Maybe I'll go with that.

Favorite Scene: Um, I like Gopher's appearance, but also Pooh eating the honey inside the tree at the end. Oh, and the whole bit with Tigger and Roo up in the tree, and the rain coming down, down, down. I haven't watched this in a while, though I really want to see it again soon, followed by the new film. Right now though, I am just grasping at what I can remember, I guess.

Favorite character: I think in this original film I might say Tigger.

Lazario, please change the title in the thread to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, so that way, you do not have people confusing it with the recent 2011 movie.

Anyways, back on topic:

Character: Tigger (Gotta love Tigger. I've always loved him as a kid)
Song: Heffalumps and Woozles (So crazy and bizarre and it comes out of nowhere)
Scene: Pooh getting stuck in Rabbit's front door after eating too much Honey.

I've been watching this movie a lot lately and I love it.

Character: I love every single one but my favorite is Rabbit because he's such a jerk and bad shyt always happens to him. It's just funny all around.

Scene: I love when Gopher is working the graveyard shift and takes out honey and Rabbit panics and runs out and puts a sign that reads "Don't Feed the Bear" but spelled backwords n' all

Song: My favorite song is Pooh's hum in the beginning of the blustery day

Character: Tigger, even if Rabbit can be funnier. Like in the scene where he he just goes insane over the idea of Pooh finally being able to move out of his house. However Tigger's just more fun, especially when dealing with the narrator.

Song: The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down

Scene: Possibily the bit when Pooh just doesn't care about Rabbit's metting ("I don't know...I had fluff in my ear") or his explanation of Jagulars ("..and then, they drop on you.").

Winnie's been part of my growing up and I'm thankful for such a whimscal story with characters that maintain their childlike personality.

Tigger is by far my fav. Pooh character, he reminds me of.. well me *haha, always full of energy, highly exzubrant and the animation of him is a pleasure to watch (did Frank Thomas/Ollie Johnson animated Tigger?)

My 1st exposure to Pooh was Winnie The Pooh and A Day For Eeyore, so I have more than 1 fav. sequence.

Hunny Tree: Everybody tryin to free Pooh from Rabbit's House.

Blustry Day: Tigger/Pooh meeting and Pooh's Windy Walk (he uses Piglet as a kite)

Tigger Too: Everybody joining the fun bouncin with Tigger, Tigger bouncing everybody

Eeyore's Day: Pooh/Friends rescuing Eeyore from the river, and Tigger/Eeyore arguing

"Hefelump/Wozzles" and "Wonderful Things Bout Tiggers" are my fav. Pooh songs, Thanks Dick/Bob Sherman for these classic songs.

Sorry it's blurry, but, video proof that after a certain point- the Subject Bar just won't let you type in anymore. What you see is as far as the spacebar would let me go.

I always lose interest in the movie after the 'Blustery Day' part is over. Until recently, I always believed Walt Disney worked on all three shorts making up the movie. Then I found out 'And Tigger Too' was made several years after Walt passed away. That made me realize how I always had instinctively reacted to the absense of Walt in the making of the 3rd short and how that's a tribute to his unique imput in the company's films. The 'Tigger Too' segment also suffers from the absense of any songs.

I always want to protect the post-Walt died films but they are often pretty weak. At least in the case of Tigger Too, we're far ahead of Aristocats and Fox and the Hound territory. I think it works well without music, actually. It's a good winding down. And, of course, as a kid I would always get excited that the "scary part" was coming up: when Rabbit got lost in the woods and started losing his mind because he thought the noises might be dangerous. The characters are just so likable. I already mentioned above the scene where Tigger walks away like he's got nothing left and Rabbit is forced to feel bad about it.

Maybe the problem is... a lack of Eeyore, Owl, and Gopher? No, really, their quirkiness livened the mood considerably in the previous segments. Notice how much of a drag Piglet seems in Tigger Too. Or that he just doesn't have anything fun to say or do. But Tigger, Pooh, and Rabbit are more than enough to make Tigger Too good and memorable.
