BmW Blu-Ray?

Post by Thorsten »

Hello,

is there something in the works? See this link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... eimprovemz

Will S7 come out as BD? What will be the regions? Are there bonus features?

Best regards,
Thorsten

I'm inclined to say no to all of the above, based on the lack of older television on Blu-ray. I'm not sure what the format would offer '90s shows shot on video aside from fewer discs.

I think fewer discs is about it. Which might not be so bad. They could start to release more then one season or even whole shows in one release for titles that only had a single seasons released on DVD. Doubt it would happen, but a guy can dream! :D

I really think this show is lucky to be fully released on DVD at all and in full personally. Tons of, in my opinion, better shows never got a DVD release, or are stuck with a first season only release.

Uninformed customers would probably throw a hissy fit when they found out the content on the Blu-ray they just bought, is just in standard definition. Also, do you really think that the studio would make it that much cheaper, if it's only on one disc? It's would still be an entire season.

Those would all be reasons why this would never happen. Personally, I feel Blu-ray discs could be used for non HD film, but it is so closely tied to HD, consumers now expect every Blu-ray to be in HD. As for it being cheeper or not, I have no idea. I was talking more from a shelf space point of few. Fewer discs would help out a lot in that area! :D

I dunno, "The Simpsons" have put out two seasons of SD shows on Blu-ray and they don't seem to show any signs of stopping that. For the record, it IS supposed to look slightly better, albeit not HD better.

They did that, really? Wow, maybe this could catch on then?

Yuh. I think they did it first with season 13 (I'd have to check) and they're doing the same with the upcoming one, and the series wasn't even aired in HD until the latter half of season 20. I think this kept it at three discs as opposed to the standard four. Frankly, I'd buy SD series on Blu-ray just for that (and apparently it also yields slightly less compression).

That is awesome, I had no idea. I imagine if it ever took off, it would happen after DVD was finally dead, but I'd be interested in buying old tv shows this way.
