Suppose you could change Disney's policies and have the company make, get rid of, or do anything you wanted. What would you do?

Well this one's a no-brainer: Get rid of Hanna Montana, make Disney Channel cool again and give their in-house films as much attention as the Pixar films and Pirates of the Caribbean.

bring back hand drawn shorts and have one at the start of each film like pixar does.
make the big earners [pooh and mickey] mature again instead of the toddler fodder they are seen as currently.
bring back cool saturday morning cartoons, even as reruns if need be [ie, gummi bears and others from the 90s right up to the weekenders and their "group".]

Here's my list:

-No more distribution of the sequels/prequels/mideaquels
-No more teen stars on The Disney Channel
-A Swan Lake film
-No more physical changes on the DVD/Blu-Ray restorations

Less of a concentration on the Disney channel and what's populated their company in the last few years, but more focus on hand drawn animation.

It will NOT stop after PatF and Winnie the Pooh. I would like them to continue to adapt well known stories while Pixar can make the original movies.

I don't really care if they do anymore sequels or not. It's not hurting me so it doesn't bother me. Plus, I thought it might be nice to have a direct-to-dvd sequel of PaTF, really only to see Tiana and Naveen in human form together for longer. (hehe

)

My list:

-Release Song Of The South and 90's Disney shows through Disney Generations.
-Make a new channel based on the classic Disney Channel and Toon Disney
-Make the Roger Rabbit sequel
-Have Disney Junior feature classic programing (Amazing Animals, PB&J, etc)
-Release new special editions of the Muppet movies (the ones they own)

Release Song of the South.

Release unedited versions of Fantasia, Make Mine Music, Melody Time and any other films that were cut for politically correct reasons.

Release all the Disney live action films on collector DVDs.

Start a classic Disney film/short/TV show channel.

I agree with finding a replacement for John. He's just too busy to possibly be the best he can be in all the aspects of the company that he is in charge of.

But I definitely disagree with Eric Goldberg, and I'm not sure about Glen Keane. Don't get me wrong, they are both legends and are my heroes as an animator. But Eric should be in charge of the training department - an aspect he is already heavily involved in. He's not a "leader", he's a teacher.

As for Glen, I think he would be great, but it just makes me nervous that he still has yet to direct a film. I think the CCO should be a strong director first. Obviously Glen is arguably the best animator in the business, but that doesn't mean he should be in charge of all other aspects of the films.

I don't think Glen should be a director. Animation is what he does best. The quality of the animation for a film he directs wouldn't be as good as it would have been if he was only an animator for the film because a director's attention is divided between so many things.

1) Re-evaluate every feature/featurette/short Disney has ever released and make a clearer picture of where each one belongs - in a sense, create more 'canons' i.e. a shorts canon, live-action canon, etc. I'd then release a booklet for stores that is essentially a check-list of these various 'canons' - so that kids/parents can check off each movie they have. There are certain movies that just sort of confuse people in terms of where they belong (Goofy Movie, Nightmare Before Christmas, etc.) - I want to clear up those confusions.

2) Release all 50+ Disney soundtracks on iTunes in one bulk package for a reduced price. (bands have done that in the past)

3)Gather every teaser and trailer and TV spot for every one of the DACs and make a DVD/Blu-ray collection where all the theatrical movie posters for each film are on the menu and when you click on it, it takes you to a blurb about the movie and lets you watch all the original advertising. I'd call it the "Disney Trailers Showcase."

4) Make a Mickey Mouse animated feature.

I think it would be great if Disney was able to purchase the distribution rights to other studio's animated films, completely restore them (as they do with their own), and release them under as part of a special collection. In other words, Disney would "present" these films, much like they do with the Studio Ghibli films, NOT rename/rebrand them as Disney films or something.

There are a quite a few non-Disney animated films out there that just aren't receiving the proper attention to detail when it comes to re-releases and/or restoration. A few I would like to see Disney acquire would be Don Bluth's The Secret of NIMH, Fleischer Studios' Gulliver's Travels, and others in that same vein.

How about building a Disney theme park in the Midwest Heartland. Here we all are, and the cost of traveling to California or Florida is beyond the realm of realization, so why not build a park in the Midwest area of the country, so we can all enjoy the fun and fantasy that is Disney.

I used to say that I would have loved seeing a Disney theme park built in the Chicagoland area; back then both California and Florida might as well have been Mars with the amount of traveling I was able to do. I brought this up years ago at another forum and people tried to argue there'd be too much competition between having three major Disney parks in one country. I don't know enough about it as to whether or not it would be an issue but I'm willing to bet that it could do well if done right.
