"Parent Trap 2" getting released on DVD
Well, it looks like "Parent Trap 2" is finally going to get released on DVD in September....in a double-pack with the original movie.
While I think this would be great, most PARENT TRAP fans already own the Vault Disney edition, and this seems like a stupid way in order to finally own the elusive "Parent Trap 2".
Wouldn't it have been a smarter move to release all three PARENT TRAP sequels in a box set? That would make my day!

Most likely. If they're smart, they should have a single release of PT2.JiminyCrick91 wrote:Is there a chance they will also have just PT2 out?
I don't just understand why they can't just do a BIG Box Set!
And pack in all bonus features in another disc in the box set.
Yes, that would be nice.
R[APRIL.23]K: High School SweetheartsI doubt it. Usually when they do a two-pack like this it's because they figure together they will sell more strongly than seperate. I believe that's why the two Aladdin sequels were released together.JiminyCrick91 wrote:Is there a chance they will also have just PT2 out?
I dunno about this release. Strange thing is I have never seen the first one, I saw the sequel on TV a couple years back, and I never even knew they had a third. I wonder why they don't just put them all out in one box. Disney is wierd. O well. Probably wouldn't buy it either way.

It's a different situation for this one than the Aladdin sequels, since one movie is clearly already available. Let's hope they make the sequel available separately. As far as I can tell, it (nor its follow-ups) have never before been released to home video in the US.
"Fifteen years from now, when people are talking about 3-D, they will talk about the business before 'Monsters vs. Aliens' and the business after 'Monsters vs. Aliens.' It's the line in the sand." - Greg Foster, IMAX chairman and president
This might clear up when this set is being released-
When reading my latest issue of Disney Magazine, Summer 2005, I read of news that I thought had a bit of value, and I decided that I'd post it onto the forum. This news was of a new DVD release that I thought might just be a re-release. I think I was wrong.
On the page of the magazine with upcoming events and releases (sorry, don't know the name ofit as I don't have it here with me), it said that on August 30, the same day as the release of the new sequel Lilo and Stitch 2-Stitch Has A Glich, it said that 'The Parent Trap' would be released onto DVD. I don't know if it was meant to mean in the set or separately, but I'm guessing that that's when it will be released with it's sequel. I think that if this set sells well then the other sequels will be released to DVD, in a box set format.
Also Disney Magazine has ceased publication, if anyone wants to know. For people like me who subscribe, they will be notified of this important news, and will have to choose another magazine til the remainder of the subsriber's subsciprtion has been sent. The two magazines to choose from are Disney Adventures (U.S Version) and Family Fun magazine. I myself have chosen Disney Adventures.
Enjoy this news, or don't enjoy this news, its up to you!

I can now quote the magazine, as I am looking at it right now. On the "Disney Days" page (Page 20) it says under the heading of August and the date 30, 'The Hawaiian duo returns in Lilo and Stitch 2, now out on DVD and VHS,Hayley Mills makes a twinning combination in The Parent Trap, on a new special-edition DVD.'

The New Zealand/Australian (Region 4) release of Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves are actually seperate, which is a bonus for us, but in general the disc sets are not as good as Region 1. For example, the New Zealand/Australian (R4) release of the Parent Trap (1961), didn't come with the second disc, but still came with quite a few extras.goofy108 wrote:I doubt it. But I think people should have the right to buy what they want and not anything extra (unless it's free of course

Okay, some fresh new info this morning from UD:
June 3, 2005 - It has been clarified that The Parent Trap: 2-Movie
Collection will contain two discs and be released on September 13th. From the sounds of it, Disc 1 will hold both 1961's The Parent Trap and 1986's made-for-TV sequel The Parent Trap II, while Disc 2 will offer bonus material, presumably ported from the original film's 2002 Vault Disney DVD set. As of now, it appears that The Parent Trap II (which is making its US home video debut) will not be available separately, but that is subject to change.
...........................................................................................................
Okay, this sounds worse. Fans will essentially have to buy the entire Vault Disney edition of PARENT TRAP all over again just to have the first sequel. I'll going to wait and see it the sequel is released individually.

Well, I think that my prediction was a little off the mark, but it was only about half a month off! And I am hoping that Disney releases the sequel separately. They're probably not going to though, as they're most likely thinking that the 2 movies in a set will sell better than just the sequel.

The third movie kind of pretends like the second movie never happened. The twins are joined by the Creel Triplets (who were like 5-minute celebrities back in the early 90s).
Sharon or Susan (I can't exactly remember) gets a job as interior decorator to a man who has triplets and falls in love with him (despite the fact he's already engaged). The triplets form a friendship with Sharon/Susan and realize their father is marrying the wrong woman.
This was followed by the 4th and final installment, PARENT TRAP: HAWAIIAN HONEYMOON.
