Natasha Richardson Dies at 45

It's all over the news right now because of how close Mont Tremblant (the ski resort where the accident occured) is to here. Very sad news. 45 is no age to die. I haven't seen much of her work, but I'll always remember her as the mom in The Parent Trap.Los Angeles Times wrote:Natasha Richardson, the luminous British actress from one of the world's great acting families, whose performances ranged from the high-brow drama "The Handmaid's Tale" to the lightweight comedy "The Parent Trap" and the Tony-winning Broadway production of "Cabaret," died Wednesday. She was 45.
The wife of "Schindler's List" actor Liam Neeson and the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave and the late film director Tony Richardson died at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. The cause of death was not announced, but she had been hospitalized after suffering a devastating brain injury while skiing Monday.
"Liam Neeson, his sons and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha," said a statement released by publicist Alan Nierob. "They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time."
RIP.

I've been following this since the first reports about the ski accident came in and was expecting the worst, but it's still terrible to hear it confirmed. Natasha Richardson was my favorite Sally Bowles in "Cabaret" (even more so than Liza Minelli) and she was so sweet in "The Parent Trap", not to mention how great she's been in her other film roles and her amazing roster of theatrical productions. She will be very missed, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family in this horrible time.

Words can't even describe how shocked I am....I saw this that she had an accident on a ski slope.....I was hoping that it was minor and she would pull through..that's why I didn't post the story when I first read it..though some part of me had a feeling it wasn't going to be a pretty walk away miracle either.....May She Rest In Peace and I am sure Liam Neeson and their 2 sons are going to have the hardest time through all this.....So My thoughts and Prayers are with the family....of Liam Neeson and their 2 sons and relatives.....

As I said in the other thread, I am yet again shocked by this sudden and unexpected death. She was an extremely talented actress and deserved way more than forty-five years. My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband, sons, sister, mother, and all other relatives and friends at this depressing time.

I followed this story ever since it was made public that she had had an accident and was in "critical condition", however I am quite shocked that she has indeed passed.
So talented and her and Neeson were one of those few happily married Hollywood actor couples.
I can't imagine how hard a time this is going to be for Mr. Neeson and his two boys.

When I read this, I felt a huge lump in my throat. It really is sad considering how relatively young she is and the circumstances. I found it especially awkward to read when I read that the hospital where she had gone is supposedly a place people go to die.
If there is an afterlife, I hope that it's a nice one.

Here is an excert of the conversation Larry King had Joan Rivers to get her take of the tragedy of Natasha...I will post the excert I found most interesting of the interview
http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Movies/ ... ichardson/
Again my prayers and thoughts go out to the family and friends of her.....but she is not gone...as long as we remember her and they keep memories of her in their hearts.....
I do hope they find out if the ski slope was perhaps too hazardous and maybe just block it off....I mean...I am not saying put a lawsuit on anyone but perhaps news saftey measures should be looked into to try to prevent this from happening again
King: So you knew yesterday?
Rivers: I knew yesterday. And I knew yesterday that she was brain-dead. And I was told, which is, again, so dear, that they kept her alive purposely to bring her back to New York, so that the boys could say goodbye to her before --
King: Really?
Rivers: Yes.
King: That's both beautiful and sad.

I don't think the ski slope is at fault... skiing is a pretty dangerous sport. You really ought to wear a helmet when doing so, but people seldom do. Sonny Bono and Michael Kennedy both dies in ski accidents, and nothing really happened. It's just a more dangerous activity than I guess some people realize.disneyboy20022 wrote:I do hope they find out if the ski slope was perhaps too hazardous and maybe just block it off....I mean...I am not saying put a lawsuit on anyone but perhaps news saftey measures should be looked into to try to prevent this from happening again

Okay...Then I suppose perhaps people should be advised its more dangerous than people realize....which I am sure they do already.....I mean perhaps you need to be pre approved for skiing...SpringHeelJack wrote:I don't think the ski slope is at fault... skiing is a pretty dangerous sport. But I do think this overall...What Happened was a Freak Accident similair to Steve Irwin and Heath Ledger...and of course Natasha Richardson, It was an freak accident that cost them their lives...I mean I would think you could more people get killed or injured in say car wrecks than skiing accidents or accidental overdose of medicine or getting stung by a sting ray......It's more bizzare than a freak accident or probably both...

It's true, it pretty much is just a terrible unexpected accident. I mean, it's just one of those things that goes to show how quickly things can change when you don't expect it.
I can't imagine what her sons are going through. To lose their mother at that age is just unthinkable for me. I can't even begin to imagine how terrible that must be for them.
