Julie Andrews Discussion Thread

I got such a sweet surprise today! In my work mailbox was a brown paper package tied up with strings… and inside was the new Little Golden Book about Julie Andrews. The gift giver was anonymous but I think I have a good guess as to who it was.

Anyway, it is a very sweet book! The illustrations are very pretty with scenes from My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, and Victor/Victoria. But my personal favorite is an illustration of Julie receiving her damehood from Queen Elizabeth— in real life, there were no photographers present when Julie met the Queen so it’s nice to have an illustrator imagine what that moment must have been like!

They also got me a loverly little lanyard that looks like Mary Poppins’s measuring tape! I used to have a similar one that got too worn down, so excited to have a new one.
