Here's the first(?) batch of supplements over on the BBFC website.

Yes, I know I should post this over on International DVD, but let's face it, hardly anybody would see it:

00:04:12:10 | COLORS OF THE WIND

Could the "If I Never Knew You" Music video be a pop-remix (in the Platinum style), thus the specific promotion of the song in the press materials?

I expect there to be another batch of supplements (perhaps just the inevitable set-top games) to be passed before release.

Just for comparison, here's the supplements listed for the current international Pocahontas release (the new disc seems to be missing the introduction to the unfinished "If I Never Knew You" animation):

00:27:59:21 | THE MAKING OF POCAHONTAS
00:04:20:01 | CREATING POCAHONTAS

Wow, what a huge array of supplements! Looks great. I'm thinking that the If I Never Knew You listing isn't a pop reprise though, considering there aren't any things like games or kiddie features listed amungst the rest of the material. However, I suspect that stuff may be on disc 1, which would follow Alice's DVD.

I would assume that "Colors of the Wind" (the last listing) and "If I Never Knew You" are just the two music videos from the US Gold Collection release.

"Making of Pocahontas" sounds like it could just be the half-hour featurette for Pocahontas that was included on Hunchback's DVD, but unfortunately missing from Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.

Kind of odd that they didn't clear the commentary, but I suppose that will be happening.

Release date on this is May 4, and I should be posting the US specs soon.

The commentary will be passed seperately as another "version" of the film. If we're lucky, as well as the commentary, we'll get the narrated historical essay on Pocahontas which was on the LD for some of the films playing time as an alternative audio track.

When you analyse the listings, there's not much more than the previous single disc International release - I hope the set contains lots of images in the galleries.

The Making of is the old Television special, hosted by Irene Bedard (the voice of Pocahontas). It's a shame this isn't included: Pocahontas: The Musical Tradition Continues (TV)

Once again, it looks like Disney aren't emptying their vaults. Will anything they release these days match their Snow White or Fantasia Discs?

Wow, I'm so happy they are including almost everything that was on the LD, including the audio commentaries for the deleted scenes. Expect more extras to appear soon - the LD had lots of still frame galleries and text screens.

Hey Luke, post these aspects soon! :) Can't wait! :D

Unless the galleries are in a automatic "play all" type slideshow, they won't appear in the BBFC listings - only "moving" images have to be submitted to the board. Text screens certainly won't appear.

I'll keep an eye out for the commentary submissions - I'm keen to see if the narrated historical essay is included.

Wow, add commentary, trailers, and galleries to that and you have an awesome Pocahontas DVD. How peculiar that the Special Editions are becoming meatier than the Platinums, which are supposed to be the cream of the crop. This is a definite must-buy for me next year and I can't wait to see the cover art.

It was always worth picking up for me. Even though I own the GC version. I am very excited, I wish they would bump this up for January again.

Well, I enjoyed the movie, but not enough to pick up the GC version.

Hmm, I miss some features from the LD... The list does not include an early concept for "Colors of the Wind" (with storyboards by Eric Goldberg), an early (and beautiful) version of the farewell sequence in which Pocahontas and Smith sing "If I Never Knew You" as they say good bye. The LD also had some almost completed extended sequences that were deleted (maybe they will be included in that "Misc Scenes" thing).
The LD also had two theatrical trailers and one featurette talking about a Pocahontas tour in the USA (which is unlikely to be included, since it is a promotional feature).

I'm surprised that they will be (suposedly) including the "If I Never Knew You" music video, since that includes lots of scenes featuring the World Trade Center. The twin towers are mentioned in the "Premiere in the Park" feature as well.

Honestly, I think we're all beyond pretending the Twin Towers didn't exist. You shouldn't be surprised.

Remember there's probably another batch to go through the BBFC. Then again, perhaps there isn't given The Lion King's lack of trailers. :( But I'd say another batch is almost a certainty being as none of the inevitable set-top games have been passed.

Any content on the BBFC is not an annocuement - it's just stuff Disney UK have passed through the BBFC with an idea to putting on the discs. Being as they have to pay for this "service" it's more than likely that content will appear on the discs, but it's not certain.

THe BBFC listing is still the best idea we have for the contents of the discs until a formal press release is made.
