(Off) Broadway Theatrical Productions That You've Seen

Post by TheSequelOfDisney »

Just asking to list the theatrical productions that you have seen. Not like high school productions, but like Broadway.

Well, I've only seen two:

The first was something about Huckleberry Finn (sp?) which incorporated deaf people that used sign language, pretty cool.

The second, and most recent, as in yesterday, I went and saw "The Lion King." It was wonderfully spectacular, and I have all of the songs stuck in my head. I hope to see this one again in a few years.

To see list:
"Wicked"
"The Phantom of the Opera"

I have seen (so far):

Phantom of the Opera (2x)
The Lion King
Light in the Piazza

I'm also hoping to see "Beauty and the Beast" this summer before it goes off broadway...that is, if I can get my dad to take me to NYC. :P I also want to see "Spamolot" and "Wicked."

PS- Isn't there already one or two threads about this somewhere in the Off-Topic Forum?

i haven't been to Broadway sadly. :( i want to go someday. a friend of mine at school wants to go to see plays like Wicked, Spamalot, and others.
plays i want to:
Wicked
Lion King
Beauty And The Beast, doubt i'll ever see it on Broadway. :(
Tarzan
Mary Poppins
Little Mermaid.

do Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway count on here? if it does then i have since our community did A Slice Of Salmon a couple months ago.
our Community Theater has done other ones like Annie Get Yur Gun, Sound Of Music, and My Fair Lady.
i've also been in some school plays. the ones i have been in are:
a spoof of Recess with commercials, mine was a spoof of Joe's Crab Shack
Let's Go To The Hop
Tears Of Camolot
Sound Of Music 8) .
there was going to be another play i was going to be in that would spoof Monty Python and the Holy Grail but our director had a death in the family and couldn't continue.

Well I'm lucky I live in Toronto, which is the 3rd biggest English speaking city with Broadway shows (2nd is London, England and 1st is, of course, New York City). So we get a lot of shows here.
The ones I've seen since the mid-90's are:

Miss Saigon
Crazy For You
The Phantom of the Opera (x2)
Aida
Rent
Beauty and the Beast (x2)
The Lion King
Hairspray (x2)
The Producers
Mamma Mia
Wicked (x3)
The Lord of the Rings (Toronto premiere)
Spamalot
Chicago
I also have tickets for the Canadian premieres of We Will Rock You in July and Dirty Dancing in November.

I wish I lived closer to New York City. I'd love to see Tarzan. Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid and Legally Blonde. And, of course, Beauty and the Beast one more time before it closes. :(

I saw some plays, all off Broadway:

1) Mamma Mia
2) Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (in London, England!)
3) The Lion King (in San Francisco)

I saw a few more, but I can't remember them all.

OOoh, I can do this one.. now just to remember what I've actually seen..

-Phantom of the Opera (X2)
- Joseph and the amazing technicolour dreamcoat
- Cats
- Tommy
- Mamma mia
- Romeo and Juliet
- Julius Ceasar
- Beauty and the Beast
- Les Miserables
- Lord of the Rings (X2)
- Cirque du Soliel La Nouba (if that counts, not really theater I suppose)
- Grease
- Radio City Christmas Show (I guess not really theater either)
- The Producers
- Rent

edit: Compeletely forgot about Rent! Saw it on my first trip to New York (my first broadway play!)

A couple more I can't remember the name to. I had a Mirvish subscription one year so I saw 5-6 smaller plays that I can't remember the name to :D

The Phantom of the Opera
Wicked
Rent
Spamalot
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Tommy
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Little Shop of Horrors
Hairspray
Beauty and the Beast
42nd Street
High Fidelity

I know there's more, but it's late and my brain's fried...I'm a big musical theatre geek, to the point where I've forgotten what I've seen...

This summer I hope to see "Avenue Q" and "Company" (unless "Company" closes unexpectedly, as Sondheim shows on Broadway are wont to do).

Of the ones I've listed, "Rent" is my favorite, and "Wicked" is my least favorite.

I think you mean the revival of "Big River". A very fun if not well known show, and the sign language idea was very well incorporated.

I've never seen a show on Broadway, since I live in the Netherlands, but we get a lot of shows here too. I've been to:

Beauty and the Beast - National Tour
The Lion King - Circustheater Scheveningen
My Fair Lady - National Tour (I saw MFL last wednesday)

And tomorrow I'm going to see Tarzan in the Circustheater in Scheveningen. They say this Dutch production is better than the Broadway version. Can't wait!
Disney's musical Tarzan. Coming to Holland 2007.

I've seen the Dutch versions of
Miss Saigon
A Chorus Line
Chicago
Rent
Little Shop Of Horrors

I know there are more, but I can't think of them right now... I've seen bootlegs of some Broadway shows, but that doesn't compare to sitting in the theatre. I'm desperate to see Avenue Q, I'll probably go to London just to see it.

Annie
Chicago
My Fair Lady
The Lion King
Rent
The Phantom of the Opera
Beauty and the Beast
Hairspray
1776
Lost in Yonkers
Cats (I hate that musical!)
Grease
Seussical
A Midsummer Night's Dream
The Sound of Music

I have not seen Wicked in theater as of yet, but I plan to as soon as possible. In my early teenage years, I played the part of Pepper in Annie. The majority of the cast consisted of professional actors. :) I don't like Disney's version of Annie. They altered the plot and the characters too much.

Well, I looked yesterday, and I found that Wicked is coming next year, 2008, Jan. 9th through Feb. 3. It came in 2005 for two weeks and was completely sold out. I know the general plot, I think, and I know of one song, "Defying Gravity," and I love that song. It is so cool and quite catchy. I just hope I'll have enough money to go. Can't wait!

I've only seen a few shows, but my favorites have ironically been off broadway shows.

'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Aida' are my favorites.......can you tell I'm a Disney Theatre fan??

I still want to see 'Mary Poppins' and 'Tarzan' and am trying to find a touring version of 'The Lion King' somewhere in the states, but I don't know where/when it will be?

I just got tickets to the preview showing of 'The Little Mermaid' in Denver before it goes on Broadway. I'm kind of excited for that one....I've never seen a preview engagement.

Compared to these other lists, mine seems really pathetic:

Wicked
The Music Man

Both were great (Wicked especially).

Re: What Broadway Shows You've Seen

Post by Mason_Ireton »

I've been a fan of broadway so far Disney's shows have captured my imagination but there's other shows I loved too.

Freshmen year:

Beauty And The Beast

Lion King

Senior Year:

West Side Story (I loved the movie/Broadway)

Cats (Didn't quite understand it but worth going)

Current:

Annie (my drama class saw the traveling show and Annie's our new musical)

I'm hoping to see

Tarzan

Mary Poppins

Wicked

Aida (is that show still playing?)

Lil Mermaid.
