Save the "Ultimate Disney.com" Wiki Article!

Post by Jules »

A couple of months ago, I created an article on Wikipedia, concerning Ultimate Disney. I thought that if there was one for Gamespot and Final Fantasy Shrine, it was only fair that there be one for Ultimate Disney.

The article is short and simple, as I don't know how to do any complicated stuff with Wikipedia (ie I don't have time to find out), and it has twice been tagged for deletion, unless it is improved.

I was wondering if maybe some of you (who know enough about this site to write a long-ass article) can improve on the one that I contributed and prevent its deletion.

Thank you! :)

There are some problems with the page. It should be titled ultimatedisney.com, not ultimate disney (however, this may be legal, I'll have to check to make sure). A list of "notable" members should not be listed, as some people do not want to appear on an online "database". Cites should be included.

I might work on the page when I get time.
Best Movies of 2009:
1. Moon
2. Inglorious Basterds
3. The Hurt Locker
4. Coraline
5. Ponyo

I concur. This needs a lot of work. I can try to monkey with it in my spare time.

Nice of you to create an entry and such a flattering one at that! I spot some stylistic, grammatical, and factual errors. Perhaps the most glaring of which is that the site has actually been around since 2001, existing for a shade over two years prior to the domain being registered. I think some basic statistics and facts might be more worthy of inclusion than compliments, which are opinionated, albeit positively-opinionated, gratefully.

Nice work. :)

Thanks! :D

I'm really sorry about the factual errors, but I always had the impression that UD has been around since 2003 ... don't know where I got the idea in the first place. :?

Regarding the grammatical errors, I presume you are referring to the final paragraph, which I hastily slipped in about a week ago. Sentence construction is not quite right, (especially around the part when I'm speaking of Mr. Maltin) and at a point, I left a word out. I can't seem to be able to correct the latter mistake as Wikipedia keeps telling me that the article is temporarily in read-only from due to some technical issues (which it says will probably be resolved soon).

EDIT: Thanks for the critique, all of you! It's highly appreciated. That article was my very first and I was (and am still) VERY green when it comes to writing Wikipedia articles.

... guess I'd better stick to my literature critical essays. :P

It definately needs to be fleshed out, given a few different sections, some external links, pictures, etc... and definately a couple screenshots of the main page and forum.

Well, you can always add yourself... one of the nice things about Wikipedia, I suppose. It might end up being a long list if everyone wants on it, though, lol.

In case you were wondering, the "official Disney released book" is called "Disney Dossiers: Files of Characters From the Walt Disney Studios".

How about a list of colourful characters on the Forums? :)

I've always thought there should be an additonal Loomis in this list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loomis

Namely:

Loomis, an eccentric Internet personality
Behind the Panels - Comic book news, reviews and podcast
The Reel Bits - All things film
Twitter - Follow me on Twitter

Well, I've done my best to flesh out the UD wiki site, adding a "Community" section, an "Interviews & Special Reports" section, and adding more to the "Reviews" section. Also, added a note against deletion on the deletion page.

Great info Escapay! I never knew PlutoRegion1 was able to go to the original premiere for Dumbo in 1941! :o

 In other words, you need to put the word "DVD" in front of "premiere".

Awesome add to "Loomis", Loomis or whoever did that. That provided me with my Laugh of the Day!

Nice work on the UD article, Escapay et. al. Though I'm looking forward to my name being dropped from it at some point!

You can thank me for starting that. The only thing someone added was the 'redhead' remark. ;)

Also, whoever remembered to put 'Cage-tastic' on the UD Wiki article (See: Fads and Slang) deserves a medal. Or a cookie. Well, at least high praise. :D ;)

I just linked "tree-killing DVD condom" to slipcover...I think it's only apt...and good job to everyone else who's been working on it, the article looks great.

Alrighty, I tweaked it a little :D . I didn't take anyone else's work away, I just added my own.
One suggestion I have is to get someone to "print screen" copy a picture of the front page (and maybe the forum page) to put on the Wiki article.
:pan: Love It.

Good idea. I'll be getting that up soon.

EDIT: Main page is up! Plus, if you look at the bigger pic, you can see what I looked up on amazon! Yay for stalking!

Also, I added two "See also" links, for the articles about WDHE and the Platinum Edition DVDs. The latter also could use some sprucing up, I only did a quick polish of it today.

OMG! That Wiki page is spiffing! Thanks Escapay!

Aaaah ... isn't it lovely to watch your creation nurtured by your friends? I'm fainting with emotion ... lol :P

I was going to add something, but seriously ... it's so good! There's nothing to add (to a certain extent)!

Escapay, as I mentioned on another thread, isn't it orgasmic when your ideas are put to good use? (This phrase harks back at Mr. Escapay's commonly used diction and language  )
