Snow White Cardboard cover - B & B "I" - Snow

Post by daflobber »

I'm a newbie so I'd love some help on a few questions...

I just recieved the Snow White Platinum DVD in the mail. I ordered it on-line. The DVD did not have a cardboard cover like the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast Platinum DVDs that I have. Did Disney not release Snow White with one or did I get screwed out of it by ordering it on-line now that it is OOP?

The Beauty and The Beast Platinum DVD case has a Roman numeral "I" on the spine. Does that mean anything? Is that b/c of the other Beauty and the Beast sequels?

The Sleeping Beauty Speical Edition DVD... is it going to be replaced by the Platinum Edition years down the line? What else could they add?

Thanks for your replies! :)

no, Snow White did not come with the cardboard cover. it came in the double disc case, like the collector's edition case of tarzan for instance.

don't know about the roman numeral on the spine of beauty and the beast.

originally, sleeping beauty was supposed to be in the platinum line-up, but we all know disney's track record with their collections of movies, so who knows. i doubt that we will see another release of this that would be as good as the special edition release we have now.

Do you really have to ask? An "all-new" song of course :)

Seriously, if this is a Platinum release in the future, I don't expect any changes for the better. Too be honest, I'd expect the Platinum to be worse!

the roman numeral "I" on the B&B box is because the two sequels were numeraled "II" and "III". there was a promotion that you could send away for a box to hold all three dvds which looked like it displayed rather nicely, but disney doing what it does best, it only made like 500 or something for the whole planet! therefore, most people who sent away for one got a check back in the mail saying they were out of stock. i still haven't been able to find one on ebay. if anyone knows how to locate one please let me know

Was it a 'new' copy? Where did you order it from?

The Snow White DVD was new, still in shrink wrap. I bought it from Amazon.com. Look up Snow White and you'll see that it is out of stock but available as "new and used" from a 3rd party. I got mine for $35. Our first child was born a month ago and now I'm trying to catch up on all the old Disney Classics. Thanks to everyone for all the info. :)
