Hallowe'en Dreams
Since it's already October (I've been here 3 months already!), what kind of things (TV specials, DVD releases) would you like to see Disney do for Hallowe'en?
Defy Gravity...
Forget everything I've ever said about revisionist filmmaking. I'd like to see a "Mickey's House of Villains:Special Edition". One where Pete actually appears for more than a couple of seconds and actually says something
What a shocking disrespect this video showed for Pete, Disney's oldest villain.
Here's what I'd like to see:
Mickey's House Of Villains Special Edition DVD
Mickey's House Of Villains (featuring optional "all-new" Pete Speaks segment via branching - just like their Lion King and Beauty and the Beast releases)
The Making of Pete Speaks 20 minute documentary going into the writing, performing and animating of the "all-new" 2 minute additional segment.
The History of Pete an all new mockumentary documenting the development of Pete from his early "Alice Adventures" days through to "House of Mouse". Famous Disney villains are interviewed, and they reveal how much they worship and respect Pete and Disney's ultimate evil-doer. "He's the one who inspired us all" says Snow White's Wicked Queen.
Bonus Episode: House Of Halloween
(Pete tries to shut down the club for good, by having some help from the Disney villains.)
Bonus Episode: Pete's One-Man Show
(Pete has agreed to back off for the night and perform on stage at the club. However, nobody wants to see him perform, so Mickey and his crew try to keep him from finding out that there's no audience in the club. - Features Pete perfoming "Boom Da Boom (Disney Version)")
Bonus Episode: Rent Day
(Mickey accidentally spends the House of Mouse's rent money on cheese - now he must act quickly to raise enough money to pay landlord Pete before the end of the show.)

Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
Scary Tales: Ultimate Edition DVD
featuring shorts from the original Cartoon Classics Vol. 3 compilation release as well as the bridging sequences from "Disney's Halloween Treats" which featured a stop motion haunted pumpkin character introducing Disney's classic villains through narrated clips; including Night On Bald Mountain, the Wicked Witch in Snow White, Merlin and Mad Madame Mim's wizzard's duel, the Siamese Cats from Lasy & The Tramp, Captain Hook as Public Enemy No. 1, etc. Also, the extra 3 or 4 shorts not already included from the Cartoon Classics Second Edition "Halloween Haunts" video release.
Basically, it would be cool to have a dvd with the following full shorts, narrated by that scary pumpkin character from the "Halloween Treats" video release in their original uncut format:
01 - Donald Duck and the Gorilla
02 - Duck Pimples
03 - The Skeleton Dance
04 - Haunted House
05 - Donald's Lucky Day
06 - Pluto's Judgement Day (unedited version)
07 - Lonesome Ghosts
08 - Trick or Treat
as well as those bridging sequences mentioned from the compilation release including 'Night On Bald Mountain' and the character portraits, etc...

Reissue The Nightmare Before Christmas SE with a 16x9 transfer and offer replacements for anyone who bought the non-anamorphic SE version. I can't believe they did a really nice special edition release without bothering to make the transfer anamorphic.

There has been stacks of Halloween related stuff released on various DVDs - Sword in the Stone has the 'magic' episode of Disneyland; Lonesome Ghosts is on a bunch of DVDs (MMILC, the aforementioned Disneyland episode, House of Villains) and most of the ones Stashone mentions are available somewhere. It would be nice to see them all together though...
The Winnie the Pooh Halloween double is coming out soon, so that would've been on my wishlist. Except it would've be nice to see it called 'Scared Poohless'.

Yes I'm pretty sure, I believe the Halloween special was in fact converted to home video for this holiday release.
The pumpkin had a really deep, animated voice (not in a cartoony sense) and sat glowing on a dining table if I remember correctly. He offered opening and closing commentary on all the featured clips and short cartoon segments; for instance for Duck Pimples he had some dialogue about Donald letting his imagination get carried away and than I remember the opening sequence was something along the lines of "For a really scary Halloween, you'll need..." and than he began naming things like witches, goblins, ghouls, etc. He also went through the Disney villains naming Captain Hook as Public Enemy No. 1. His added persona was actually spookier than most of the featured content.
Is the version on MMILC edited?STASHONE wrote:06 - Pluto's Judgement Day (unedited version)
No, it's featured in it's entirety.
The edited version often cuts the witness segment where the ghosts of Pluto's victims appear to testify against him so it appears that directly after the jury do their dancing/musical number about hearing the cases and sarcastically offer their oath to deliver justice, the trial is automatically over and the judgement has been made.
We see Pluto swearing in on the bible, than the judge and jury preparing to hear from the witnesses who are mentioned... than it's all over before the trial takes place.
I'm pretty sure this is done because of a racial parody of an Unlce Tom like character who appears to testify against Pluto, however in context of the short it really deproves all sense from the cartoon.
Oddly enough, there was even another short spliced onto this cartoon on one of those 80's vhs compilations which featured opening segments from Cat Nap Pluto bridged onto Pluto's Judgement Day in which the end result was very strange, but that's got nothing to do with this...
