The Little Mermaid: Platinum Edition (with DVD teaser pics!)

Post by Wonderlicious »

Just in case anyone didn't notice on the front page (or worse, went straight to the forum instead of the main page :headshake:), Luke has posted four screencaps for the Platinum Edition DVD of The Little Mermaid, which confirms the Region 1 release date for the set (October 3rd 2006). I'm not going to post all of the images as proper images, but I'll give links instead (it'll add to the mystery...).

I personally think that the logo being used as of today is a bit bleached, but these caps are making me more excited...

Is this really a "Platinum Edition" or a "Special Edition" like "The Sleeping Beauty"?

I agree, very much crap-looking. I hope they do better for the final release.

Well it isn't a special edition like The Sleeping Beauty, which was never made in the first place. Sleeping Beauty got a SE, but The Sleeping Beauty...not even a Disney movie. :P

Back on topic, it'll probably be the next Disney feature to be labeled both a Special Edition and Platinum Edition, just like all the platinums minus Snow White. And it's all in the name of confusion.

Yeeeaahh!! This trailer has become one of my most antecipated extras on the upcoming Cinderella DVD! Thanks a lot for posting, Luke!
With this and "Lady and the Tramp", it seems Disney has finally started making use of the Platinum Edition labbel. It was about time!

It's ridiculous how excited those four pictures made me. I can't wait to own The Little Mermaid for the first time! I'm gonna look at them again. . .

I thought I was the ONLY one who was going to puke when I saw it! I wish they'd at leastuse that beautiful title logo from the theatrical poster and classic edition video! I AM SO EXCITED THOUGH! :D

Just because the DVD teaser included the shell logo doesn't mean it'll necessarily appear on the cover of TLM: PE. Whew, glad about the news. Now I'll only have to wait a year...

Just hearing the news about it just gets me pumped up for the release. Hopefully a month before Lady and the Tramp gets released, we'll get the art and extras listing for the DVD. :D

I can't wait to pop in the Cinderella DVD just to see the little teaser trailer. Weird now that I'm more excited for the trailer than for Cinderella itself! The site though found on the 4th screencap isn't active yet. Would be cool if it became activated and had the trailer before Cinderella comes out.

I know... I felt the same way when I saw for the first time the trailer for Aladdin.

... but, isn't too soon to get that trailer? Taking in consideration we had to wait so long for each of the nest releases... now we get one for a movie that's a year away?

I really didn't like the shell logo either. I wonder if the Cinderella DVD will have the artwork for The Little Mermaid: PE!!!!

Yey its on its way :P , good to know :D. I agree with most of you, the shell logo does look a bit lame, but it's only a tiny tiny tiny part of something so great! :D

I can't wait another year, I'm too damn excited :( :( Just seeing these 4 screen caps gave me chills.

I wanna see the trailer, although I know it wouldn't use the restored version.

I want me some Little Mermaid NOW!!!

Wow, another great reason to buy the Cinderella DVD. I almost screeched of excitement when I saw the announcement on the UD front page. This will be my other most anticipated DVD release after Lion King and Aladdin. And yea that logo doesn't fit in, a clam shell? Come on...
