Once Upon (Another) Dream

Post by Prince Adam »

I just got my copy of Sleeping Beauty last night, and I'd forgotten how much I loved this movie!
Also, the music video Once Upon (Another) Dream was better than I expected (MUCH better than Jump 5's Beauty and the Beast). Yes, No Secrets is not very well known, they do a pretty good job. There were only three things that bugged me:

1. Why did they add the "(Another)" part to the title? It's not even in the song!

2. Why did they have to have the girls dance in front of backgrounds from the movie? That makes it look really tacky (a la Jump 5 in BatB). They should have constructed some sort of live-action castle. I JUST HAD A GREAT THOUGHT! They should have shot the music video at Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland! And it should have been at night! And it should have been done by a guy and girl, and turned back into the love song it originally was!!!!!

3. If you try not to think that this song was once a great ballet, then it doesn't matter that it's reduced to a pop ditty.

I listened to exactly 27 seconds of this before flipping back to the menu.
It was utter trash.

I'm not against pop music or anything like that, but it was just plain awful. Period.

I didn't think it was half bad myself! I like Jump5's BATB rendition a little bit better! I enjoy Jump5 because they are Christian and they sing for God! :)

Now back to No Secrets, I think they did a really nice laid back version of the song! I is not so bad because everything now a days is all Pop Versions! They get an A for efford! ;)

If I were 8, I probably would've loved the song. But after hearing the beginning of it, I didn't bother finishing watching the video.

It's not good. But it's not bad either. The tacky clothes and make-up on the video make it appear worse than it is. (And I like how they use the Sleeping Beauty backgrounds in the video)
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

What do you expect of a budget video?

well you said you didnt like having the backgrounds used on the video, but it's cheap for disney to make then than taking them to paris. i'm sure this videos get like a really tight budget.

Well, if I had done the video, I would have:

1. Filmed it at Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland.

2. Have it take place at night.

3. Have the castle all lit up with white and blue light, and "fairy dust" (some sort of special effect)

4. Had a guy and a girl sing it, making it the love ballad it should be.

I agree. Disney's replaced their more mature pop ballads like Beauty and the Beast, A Whole New World, and Can You Feel the Love Tonight, etc. with teeny bopper tunes that come directly from the cardboard cutout factory of pop.

I think they should have used more contemporary artist to sing it. like in snow white, I liked barbra signing the song. I couldn't see Hilary Duff singing someone day my prince will come with a trance pop rhythm to it  I would have loved if Disney would have asked Mary Costa to resing the song with a well known male singer. that would have been awesome!

These music videos are horrible. What's the point of them? I saw the one that's going to be on the Lion King DVD at the Disney Store... CRAP. I guess in the new year we can expect Pocahontas and Mary Poppins dancing along with some tone deaf kids.

They should have Jessica Rabbit sing A Whole New World with Roger Rabbit in the upcoming Aladdin DVD  or maybe Lilo & Stitch  it sure beats having the horrible teeny boopers

I turned this on the other night out of pure curiosity and turned it off almost instantly. What I did hear and see was awful and this does not deserve a place on the DVD.

I think you all that didn't like it, are way way over reacting, it was not bad, and as for the, I always knew them as the black versions, remakes, done for a whole new world and stuff, there is absolutely nothing different about them, in my opinion they are no better than the disney versions, and it is just some "professional" resinging the same song already found in the movie. Atleast Once Upon (Another) Dream is it's own song...

I personally found this a million times better than that stupid Grand Canyon short!!! Can you say BOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRINGGGG!!!

 Anyway that's just my Opinion... I hope Pocahontas and Alice, do as well with their videos.

Don't know if I will waste the money upgrading Lilo and Stitch, but maybe...

I'm frightened to think of what horrors they'll think of for Alice's inevitable music video...."I'm Late" performed by a group of teeny bopper girls singing about how they're late for a very important date...with their boyfriends...

As for No Secrets' Once Upon A Dream video, I neither hated it loved it-I just found it medicore.
