I think the new trailer is better, but I guess we are just gonna have to suck up this marketing approach and wait for the actual movie to come out to see if what they promise is true. In the meantime, let's continue trying to rope boys into thinking this is a mindless, plotless, slapstick cartoon adventure so as to rake in a decent opening weekend before they figure out they are being tricked into watching a movie about a (gasp) princess.

What do I think of the two new trailers?
Dear Disney Enthusiasts,
I've seen the newest trailers for "Tangled". I actually like Flynn's voice-over commentary, and I'm personally glad that no songs have been included, but that's only because I'd love to write my songs for my movie idea before I hear any "Tangled" songs, so that I won't be influenced...
I am glad that I was able to see Rapunzel's parents, and I wish that I could've seen more images of Mother Gothel. I agree that The Disney Company is trying to fool boys into believing that they're gonna see Disney's "Shrek", but I also wonder if they're cheating the girls.
By that comment, I mean that Rapunzel herself sounds to me as though she may be a retrograde, passive, helpless little pink princess, who just happens to whiplash someone with her hair, before crying "Flynn", like a helpless kitten. She'd better have as much spirit as her butt-kicking hair, or I'm gonna be totally disappointed..."like...FOREVER!"
I'll give the movie a chance, but I really wish that the new trailers had made Rapunzel seem like much more than just a pretty little pink princess who wanted to know more about herself.
Mandy Moore's voice was, in my opinion, both annoying and promising, and I haven't even heard any of the songs yet...
I'm sort of thinking that "Tangled" will be The Disney Company's 2010 experiment, as the CGI animation from the movie looks slightly awkward...
If "Tangled" succeeds with flying colors, then CGI animation might become the new standard; that'll be both wild and scary...although some of the hand-drawn animation from "TPatF" looked slightly sloppy...
Oh, please, Disney, don't turn Rapunzel into a wistful little "Save me!"-crying, soggy cookie of a Disney heroine...'cause a new Disney movie might be better if its princess was more than determined...
Thank you in advance for your replies.

That sounds like a pretty clever idea. Although the challenge would lie in finding a DVD that will have the Rapunzel title, the English dub, AND can be played on American DVD players.Polizzi wrote:I can still go see the movie, despite the title change from Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)." And when it comes out on DVD, I will buy it from a foreign nation that bears the name, "Rapunzel," and find an English version that has the main title in the introduction read, "Rapunzel." I believe that it will have a heart to many Disney movies, even if it is filled with action and comedy.

Tangled
Well, Rapunzel fights a lot, they talked so much about trying to make Rapunzel as girl power as possible, and probably because of their long history of complaints against their women.
Of course, they also have a long history of producing fairy tales, which originally have girls who get saved and don't fight physically. If you think about it, it doesn't make much sense for Rapunzel, trapped in a world where she only has as much is given her and can't think of cutting off her hair to climb down, would not be a girl who's so good at defending herself or fighting. She's never had to, and no one but her comforting mother has been in there. But hitting a scary intruder like Flynn with a frying pan as a kind of reaction, but running away scared, makes sense. Tying him up with magical hair she's practiced using on other things, sure. But if this girl was aready a skilled fighter and action hero, that would make no sense at all.
But honestly, I like characters who cannot do everything, who don't go fighting, who depend on other people and who, dangit, like being saved. Boys and girls can be like that. More boys should be like that. In fact you made me realize that the reason being saved and romance is so linked is because in love relationships you depend on each other and put your trust in each other.
ALSO I realized something about Rapunzel's costume. Okay, it started out green and had designs on her sleeves that looked leaf-like, flower-like, or just plant-like. Now her dress is purple and has puffy striped sleeves. I would say the green leaf-sleeved dress represented the magical plant that made her Rapunzel, with her gold hair atop the green dress like the gold flower atop the green stem. But now, since her dress got changed, presumably because Tiana had a green one (which also represented plant life, lilypads and things from the swamp, also green frogs), her dress is now purple, something Disney previously reserved for villains, especailly female villains and witches, and that's what Mother Gothel is. So maybe Mother Gothel dresses Rapunzel like herself, in a lighter shade of her own red-purple dress, and since Rapunzel loves Mother Gothel she probably also loves the dress, and she probably does like the color because it goes with her gold hair and eyes and her parents seem to like those colors, it is a color of royalty and she's a princess, but Rapunzel can also just like it because she likes it. The puffy sleeves replace the plant sleeves that won't make sense anymore since they're not green anymore, though they could have been purple flowers but the flower in the film is gold not purple. Okay then they could have been gold but the point is the puffy sleeves may be part of the whole villain witch thing or even the royalty thing. Though Rapunzel's costume is noticeabley less nice than Gothel's, Gothel has gold on hers while Rapunzel doesn't, and Rapunzel's bodice is all exposed, you can see the ties, she looks more peasant than princess and Mother Gothel looks more regal. So Mother Gothel may be doing that on purpose even though she showers Rapunzel with lots of gifts, so maybe she'll give her gifts as long as the gift doesn't make Rapunzel more beautiful than her, or maybe Rapunzel prefers to be just wearing a less fancy, corset-exposed dress.
In any case I am so dissapointed that the dress changed to something that looks more generic. Also, it looks kind of like Ariel's and Vanesa's corseted dresses, and Rapunzel looks like Ariel.

Re: Tangled
I think you are pushing your theory too far... From the begining I knew Rapunzel's costume would eventualy change colours. At first, we didn't know Rapunzel would leave the tower and walk around in the woods. I think the only reason why they changed it from green to lilac is because they didn't want to character to fade with the forest background she'll be in. I guess that's why they took a colour that stands out more.Disney Duster wrote:ALSO I realized something about Rapunzel's costume. I don't think it has to do with the other colours used for the other princesses. I would have LOVED the green and gold dress just because of the off the shoulder sleeves.... OR even the pink and blue dress used in the first concepts...
I can't say for sure yet, but the Dutch DVD will probably have a double title saying Rapunzel and Raiponce (Benelux and all)toonaspie wrote:That sounds like a pretty clever idea. It will have the movie in english though for sure!
(I hate the recent Dutch dubbed versions)

TANGLED CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
RAPUNZEL may have lived her entire life locked inside a hidden tower, but Rapunzel is no damsel in distress. The girl with the 70 feet of golden hair is an energetic, inquisitive teenager who fills her days with art, books, and imagination. Rapunzel is full of curiosity about the outside world, and she can’t help but feel that her true destiny lies outside of the lonely tower walls. Rapunzel has always obeyed Mother Gothel by staying hidden away and keeping her magical hair a secret… but with her 18th birthday just a day away, she is fed up with her sheltered life and ready for adventure. When a charming thief seeks refuge in her tower, Rapunzel defies Gothel and seizes the opportunity to answer the call of the kingdom. With the unwilling Flynn Rider along for the journey, Rapunzel leaves the tower for the first time, and begins a hilarious, hair-raising journey that will untangle many secrets along the way.
The ultra-confident FLYNN RIDER is his own biggest fan, and he has long relied on his wit, charm and good looks to get out of even the stickiest situation – and Flynn’s life just happens to be full of sticky situations. Flynn is a thief looking for the one last, big score that will allow him to finally live the life he’s always dreamed of. He's never been closer to having it all when he meets Rapunzel, an odd girl with ridiculously long hair. Rapunzel seems to be the only girl in the world immune to Flynn’s moves, and for the first time ever he seems to have met his match. An unlikely alliance with this girl from the tower sends Flynn on the adventure of a lifetime, and helps him realize that sometimes you don’t know what you want… until it hits you over the head… literally.
She may be controlling, manipulative and over-protective, but MOTHER GOTHEL is the only mother Rapunzel has ever known. By stealing Rapunzel as an infant and raising her in the tower, Gothel ensured that she alone would have access to Rapunzel’s magical hair, which she uses as her personal fountain of youth. Gothel loves Rapunzel more as a possession than as a daughter, and uses every weapon in her arsenal – including a constant flow of subtle jabs, backhanded compliments and over-the-top guilt trips – to keep Rapunzel hidden away. When Rapunzel finally defies her wishes and ventures out into the world, the delightfully deranged Gothel will to stop at nothing to get her little girl back into the tower.
The Captain of the Guard’s horse, MAXIMUS, has made it his personal mission to capture the wanted criminal, Flynn Rider. Fearless in his pursuit, the horse defies danger to follow Flynn where other guards refuse to go – it seems nothing will stop this “tough-guy cop” from getting his man. Once Maximus meets Rapunzel his heart softens, and he begins to see the world differently. What started as a relentless pursuit may just be the beginning of a beautiful friendship
Rapunzel’s one true friend is her silent, color-changing sidekick, PASCAL. Pascal may be just a small chameleon, but he plays a big role in Rapunzel’s life. Confidante, coach and cheerleader, Pascal is a driving force behind Rapunzel’s decision to leave her lonely tower. This supportive and encouraging companion’s true colors just might hold a key to unlocking a royal mystery.

The STABBINGTON BROTHERS are a pair of thick-necked thugs whose proclivity for thievery and fighting has put them right at the top of the Kingdom’s “Most Wanted” list. While the Stabbington without the eye-patch (voiced by RON PERLMAN,) does all the talking for these two beefy brutes, it’s clear that both are more comfortable expressing themselves with fists than with words. Muscular and menacing, Flynn Rider’s former partners in crime are dead set on one thing and one thing only: revenge. Enraged at being double-crossed by the cunning Flynn Rider, the brothers will stop at nothing to make him pay and regain possession of their stolen goods.
The KILLER SEWING THUG is strong enough to rip you to pieces, but skilled enough to stitch you right back together again! You'd never know it by looking at this ruffian with his bulging muscles and bad-guy braids, but he's really a tailor at heart who is more cut out for sewing, darning and mending than for fighting, raiding and looting. In fact, look closely and you’ll notice he’s adorned with essential sewing trimmings and accessories from helmet to boot.
TOR FLORIST is a tough thug with a green thumb. At first glance he appears to be covered in weapons, but upon closer inspection you’ll find all his trappings are actually tools of his craft: spades, shovels and shears. He secretly dreams of being a
Florist, and is more likely to plant a wisteria in your backyard than a fist in your stomach… but best to play it safe because you never know!
With a scary, iron mask hiding his face, ATTILA CUPCAKE is the most intimidating of all the thugs; but once you get to know him you realize that he’s actually a quiet softy who is more comfortable in an apron than body armor. Attila is most at home in front of his oven, cooking and baking away. His specialty? Cupcakes. He dreams of the day that he can put down his sword and pick up his spatula… and maybe, just maybe open his own bakery.
Let's face it: BIG NOSED THUG is not the most handsome chap in the pub. In fact, with his boils, scabs, lumps and bruises, some might find him a little hard to look at. But you can’t judge a book by its cover, and you shouldn’t judge a thug by his scars; on the inside, Big Nose is the most "beautiful" of all the thugs. A hopeless romantic, he dreams of one thing: finding true love. Maybe one day he’ll meet a lucky lady who can look past his appearance and see his inner beauty and heart of gold.

TALKING “TANGLED” WITH RAPUNZEL
RAPUNZEL may have lived her entire life locked inside a tower, but she’s no damsel in distress. The girl with the 70 feet of golden hair is an energetic, inquisitive teenager who fills her days with art, books and imagination. She’s full of curiosity about the world, and she can’t help but feel that her true destiny lies outside the lonely tower walls. She’s always obeyed Mother Gothel by staying hidden and keeping her magical hair a secret, but her 18th birthday triggers her need for adventure.
Rapunzel is currently enjoying said adventure with the help of a charming thief named Flynn Rider. Though Mother Gothel would surely not approve, Rapunzel’s hair-raising journey might untangle a few secrets along the way.
Q: Describe your relationship with Mother Gothel. Is this a typical mother-daughter relationship, filled with ups and downs?
A: There are certainly a lot of ups and downs—though it usually involves me letting down my hair, and Mother grabbing hold for a ride up into our tower. Is that typical? Mother loves me to death—she says so all the time. She goes to great lengths to protect me… though there are days I wish she wouldn’t.
Q: Your first encounter with Flynn Rider wasn’t exactly ideal. What was going through your mind?
A: Honestly? I was searching the tower for something good to strike him with. I was shocked at first—I mean, there was a person right there in our tower. And a little afraid… there was a PERSON in our tower! But once I knocked him out and dragged him to the closet—I felt…
…strong.
When it comes to intruders—and knocking them out—I highly recommend the frying pan. Very effective.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Hmmmm… hobbies. I lead a pretty quiet life, tower-bound and all. Is cleaning a hobby? [SMILES] I do like to read… and play guitar… and knit. I do some cooking and baking and ballet dancing. I like puzzles and pottery and candle-making. And painting. I love to paint. The tower is covered with my paintings—all of them, in some way, reflect my dreams, my fantasies. I do love daydreaming. I like to sit by the window with Pascal— my chameleon and my confidant—and fantasize about someday seeing the floating lights.
Q: So what is it about these lights? What makes them so special?
A: That’s what I want to find out! Every year on my birthday—MY birthday—I see hundreds of floating lights. I look forward to those lights. It’s as if each one is a flickering symbol of life… or maybe love… or hope. Yes, it’s definitely hope.
From a distance, they’re beautiful—breathtaking. Can you imagine what it would be like to see the lights in person? [SIGHS] I can.
Q: Why would a girl like you pick Flynn Rider to be her guide?
A: He’s worldly, right? Of course everyone seems worldly to me. I knew when I met him that he was right for the job because he was… well… there. I didn’t exactly have a lot of options. And with criteria that included having spent time—any time—OUTSIDE my tower, it was a pretty good bet that he’d qualify.
Besides, I think the whole swashbuckling bandit thing is a big act.
Q: Seventy feet of magical hair—burden or blessing?
A: Both.
I mean… it’s a LOT of hair. Brushing it is quite a chore… and hoisting Mother into this tower day in and day out isn’t easy. The hardest part by far though is the hiding. Mother says there are lots of people who’d like to get their hands on my magical hair. So it gets lonely up here.
But all in all, I really do think my hair is a blessing. Mother tells me all the time how special I am because of it. And it really comes in handy—I can hang from the rafters while I paint, and if a bandit should invade my tower, 70 feet of magical hair is an ideal tool for tying him up while I decide what to do next.
How many girls can say that?

TALKING “TANGLED” WITH FLYNN RIDER
FLYNN RIDER is his own biggest fan, and he has long relied on his wit, charm and good looks to get out of even the stickiest situation—and his life just happens to be full of sticky situations.
Rider is currently in an unlikely alliance-slash-epic journey with the girl from the tower. An adventure of a lifetime, it may just help him realize that sometimes you don’t know what you want… until it hits you over the head—literally.
Q: You’ve been described as a “charming” bandit. Are you?
A: Am I charming? [SMILES] Well, you be the judge. [SMILES AGAIN, THIS TIME WITH MEANING] Scratch that. I don’t need another judge—plen-ty of those to contend with already, thank you very much. So… I’m sorry—you want to know if I’m charming. Well, it’s like this. I’m a good guy at heart, you know? I may have borrowed a thing or two from people who have a thousand things or two… thousand. But I mean no harm, really. And if a warm smile or a kind word to them or those they hire to hunt me down makes their day a bit brighter—then so be it: I’m charming.
Q: What attracted you to Rapunzel?
A: I’d like to say it was her long golden hair, her big green eyes, her amazing voice, and a—shall we say—spirited personality that could keep even the most charming bandit on his toes. But the truth is… well… it was her tower. Tall. Nearly impossible to break in to… the PERFECT hiding place.
Hey, you wanted the truth. I mean, she is beautiful and all of those things. She’s also good with a frying pan—but not in the way you think. [RUBS HEAD]
Q: Do you have a dream?
A: Well… yeah, I have a dream. Everybody has a dream.
Oh—you want to know what it is? [LAUGHS] Dreams are tricky things. People tend to want the one thing they can’t have. So for me, I’ve always wanted… well, what’s the nice way to say it? Freedom. Independence. A carefree life. And for a kid who never had those things—not in the way I wanted anyway—the only way I knew how to get them was with money. Piles of it.
Q: Why would a girl like Rapunzel pick you to be her guide?
A: Why wouldn’t she? [SMILES]
Seriously… why wouldn’t she? I’m an explorer… of sorts. I’ve been around. I know all the best places—caves, castles, pubs. Plus, I’m the first guy to show up in her tower who she could trust. Well, I’m the first guy to show up in her tower, anyway.
Q: You’ve teamed up in the past with the Stabbington Brothers, but yet, they don’t seem to be your biggest fans. What gives?
A: Never trust a guy who wears an eye patch… or his brother. These guys grow a few biceps and suddenly they’re in charge, you know? Ah, let’s face it: they’re thieves, I’m a thief—it’s not exactly a relationship built on trust. In the real world, it’s survival of the fittest—or in this case—survival of the clever…est… best looking? Hey, whatever works.
Q. What’s up with your horse Maximus?
A. Whoa, whoa, whoa. That fleabag is NOT my horse. MY horse wouldn’t stalk me all day and all night for no good reason. MY horse wouldn’t make it his life’s mission to bring a guy like me to justice. MY horse wouldn’t follow me to the most precarious of circumstances—just to get his teeth on my satchel.
Come to think of it—Max and I have a lot in common. But he’s still a fleabag.

Wow I love the interviews
Anyway after close examination of the US and UK trailer I found a scene which are both very simular but if you look closly the one is missing a wooden pannel....
Here is the UK trailer where Rapunzel says "I want to see the world, and not just from my window."
The US trailer says "I have to know what they are..."
here is my comparrison ....
(I have circle the wooden panel)

Sooo ... what do you think has this scene been edited or is just for the trailer... ??? I would be grateful for your feed back thanks
(I love the US trailer - woop woop!)
