I want to go, but my anxiety is like it's too soon to be near people. I feel more comfortable than I did, especially with all my trips to the vet, but I'm not ready to get out of my cocoon. But I want to go. But I have no $ right now because of the vet. Are any of you guys planning on getting tickets?

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I'm actually against having the princesses interact. It's one thing when they did so in Ralph Breaks the Internet, those were merely digital avatars who lived in Oh My Disney, it's another when they're supposed to be the "real" princesses from their respective films. I understand this is something that was brought upon by the popularity of the "Comfy Squad", but I'd rather have any intermingling contained in that offshoot of the DP franchise than bring it over to the main one. To me, taking characters from different eras and regions and have them crossover is a bigger sell-out and a violation of their integrity than giving them new outfits, hairstyles or accessories. This is also something that Roy E. Disney fought hard against and undoing it would be disrespectful to his wishes. I hope this is something only done for the Ultimate Princess Celebration and won't be a permanent change to the franchise.

I get that POV, Sotiris. But personally, over the years I have come to loathe the Princess line and the way it’s been handled— I know the history and Roy Disney’s part in it, but I do not believe their intentions have led to the best outcome for the integrity of these characters’ “brands.”

Their characters and personalities have been totally washed away and they been replaced with a homogenized mass of smiling, vacuous faces. They’ve become just iconography— the things that made those characters interesting, their unique personalities, are pushed aside. And they’re all left with the same regal, Princessy poses. Not to mention many of their designs have been changed extensively for the Disney Princess line— “prettied up,” I assume, to better market to today’s children and parents. To me, the state of the Disney Princess line today does nothing to honor the legacies of these movies and these characters— instead they’ve transformed them into something else entirely and I really hate it.

That’s why this Ultimate Princess Celebration is such a breath of fresh air to me. Allowing the princesses to interact means we can see their personalities again— look at the post bruno_wbt just shared for example, I can totally imagine well-to-do Tiana being uncomfortable with Ariel’s big bear hug. It’s just so nice to me to see merchandise where the Princesses are displaying an array of emotions amongst them, when they are acting like themselves.

I’m not trying to change your opinion, and I don’t think you’re wrong. But I also wanted to explain why I’m so happy this “Celebration” exists. And why I hope it signifies a change in the way these characters are handled within the brand going forward.

I like it... I was sick of the Stepford Princesses. Though I do think that for the actual princess franchise if they're going to have them interact they need to stay in character ...they need to be careful it doesn't become another Wrecked Princesses and make sure they reign in the wackiness. I don't need to see Jasmine having an asthma attack or Cinderella trying to shank someone with her glass slipper.

It's the Disney Princess line. Guys, it's not meant to honor what makes the original WDAS classics special. I mean even Merida, from Pixar, is in. The most the line has done that I actually care about is make merch that retell the stories from the films with images, or show moments from the films, which never will have the princesses intermingling with each other, and also, the occasional game from them that, while I forget if they have intermingling, I know at least I loved Disney Princess Fashion Boutique. Aside from that, do you really need anything else from the Disney Princess franchise?

They really are

It's so refreshing to see Cinderella's ballgown and hair in their appropriate colors. I wonder if this means that they will finally give the movie the proper restoration it deserves.
