And Deco King, there haven't been any new pictures of Gothel, but I've been looking around to see if any have been posted in the past. If I find anything, I'll post it here.

It's a shame that the linked art has nothing to do with the production, it's gorgeous!!! Regardless, I loved the one design so much that wanted to attempt her myself: http://enigmawing.deviantart.com/art/Rapunzel-137374065
oh I don't think they respond to CGI stuff anymore than traditional.. I just think that it's the fact that Disney is the only traditional animation producing company at the moment and they just stopped making what they were best at... traditionally animated fairy tales... they had 4 great films in a row.. although lion king wasn't a "fairy tale".. and since then they progressively got worse..the scripts just weren't as good.. and they lost their magic..Cordy_Biddle wrote:It's sad, I know. It seems that kids really only seem to respond to CGI stuff these days. I'm hoping "Princess and the Frog" starts turning the tide in the other direction.

I think the generation of kids who experienced the shift from 2D to CGI responded more to CGI - it was fascinating. Children nowadays probably see it as the norm, so it's lost that aspect of it's appeal. I couldn't care less what children think of the film TBH. Sure it's nice to know if they enjoyed a movie, but I wouldn't go any deeper than that. I know when I was a kid I thought BatB was the most amazing film ever and could argue it too, but now I'm more informed

If we are in the process of discussing fanmade artwork, I'd also like to share some of my own pieces. Again, this is fan art. I've been working on my own version of the story for years as a sort of pet project. I'm working on a new piece right now which I hope to finish over the weekend. Which is my fav piece yet. Here's some older stuff...

enigmawing, so pretty!!!! And Rob, amazing! You both need to be working on the project...right now!
The reason Rapunzel will be in CG is because Glen Keane wanted to stretch how CG animation is done. He wanted to make it look painterly and beautiful, and like a painting. I mean, yes, initially I think he would've done it traditionally, but then working on the film more on the computer, he was enjoying it and wanted to make it the most beautiful animated film ever, and, if I recall correctly, when given the option later of making the film traditionally or in CG, he chose CG.

At the D23 Expo, I was surprised how many fans didn't know it was going to be CG. I talked to a lot of people after John Lasseter revealed the voice cast and showed the test footage and the general reaction was "I don't get why it is in CG." I kept trying to explain that story is the most important thing and that it will still be a great film. I'm actually excited for Disney's first CG traditional fairy tale (I don't count Chicken Little, lol).blackcauldron85 wrote:The reason Rapunzel will be in CG is because Glen Keane wanted to stretch how CG animation is done. Wow! I am surprised but flattered to see my drawing on this link, even if i'm not happy at all that they were picked up without my permission.
I confirm these are only kind of fan-arts, meaning there are not official.
I am a french drawer who works in animation industry and I used to work on Disney's Tarzan at clean-up.
If you want to know or see more on my work and art, please feel free to check both my blog and website (there's a Disney Fan-art gallery, including more on Rapunzel unofficial fanarts...)
Enjoy!! And thanks for all the compliments I read there!!
Please, don't use my artwork without my permission, thanks by advance for your respect.
