Lol this does seem to be the new trope. Now even the Pixar/Revival sequels have their own trope. And actually, after thinking over your Snow Queen connection, I realized that the ending of Frozen 2 can set up a potential sequel more closely modeled on the original fairy tale. Elsa, by embracing her role as the fifth spirit/the Snow Queen, has become colder and more distant from humanity, especially from being separated from her sister and living in a magical realm devoid of other humans. Over a few years this turns her into the Snow Queen we've seen from the fairy tale, a powerful entity who isn't evil but doesn't seem to be quite human. Not that I expect Disney would ever try and push Elsa back into an antagonistic role though.

That's sounds interesting. She can kidnap Anna's daughter. But yeah there's no chance Elsa is going to be the villain, she barely was in the first film as it is.

Easy-peasy. They'll reunite them under the guise of a new crisis threatening the kingdom.

That would actually be a pretty cool (no pun intended) idea for Frozen 3.

I'll be happy if Elsa is officially called the Snow Queen. I still resent the horrible adjective titles.

It's funny how in the deleted song "More Than Just the Spare", Anna laments how Elsa is the heir and she's the spare yet now she gets to be queen. The spare is there for a reason, Anna! :P

Funny thing: I told my Twitter followers to look out for the Frozen 2 ending. Within the next 10 minutes, my real-life friend accidentally spoils it for me in excitement. I’m officially cursed to get every Disney movie ruined for me. rotfl Planning on getting her with Raya. :P

Hopefully, only the ending for me is ruined. Really curious how it leads up to it.

Elsa: I'm so glad there's a full circle moment with the OG fairy tale. Even though she was already the Snow Queen. But, how can she be a spirit when she's alive. Can't wait for the explanations!

As of Anna: Poor Hans did all of that attempted murder for nothing :P I hope that's a surprise post-credits scene! That would be great.

eh, not surprised. They've been leaking stuff here and there from book descriptions that was already hinting at this. There's gonna be a lot of fans disappointed at this ending b/c its exactly what they were dreading. I kinda think its good and ballsy of Disney to do it. But Im sure we'll still get a happy ending where Anna and Elsa reunite and its implied that they often visit each other. Still the lack of Hans is a real minus for this film.

I was thinking, when Elsa becomes the fifth elemental spirit, does she become immortal as well? That would mean Elsa would be alone again after Anna, Kristoff and her friends pass away.

^thats one of the reasons so many are hating it. But I really don't think the changes are gonna be as drastic as many think they are. They are also complaining about Elsa "transforming" but all the book page illustration shows is her glowing with some crystals floating around her body...pppft big deal. Its not like she dies or turns into a giant frost lizard or something. :milkbuds:

Well, I just read more on the page and I found out who the surprise villain is and woo, it's indeed a *surprise* villain. It's Anna and Elsa's grandfather.

^oh yeah b/c he's responsible for the dam or the war b/w the two kingdoms, or both, not sure. Anyway does he really count as a villain if whatever he did was long ago in the past and he's long dead anyway?

Or is he? As a spirit or a elderly man? Disney hasn't announced him yet. As for Hans, I fully expect a post-credit scene on his reaction of Anna being queen. You know as they say: Fake it until you make it, not fake it until can you murder someone. :P It would be a wasted golden opportunity if they don't. If not, at least he gets a mention. Turbo got nothing in RBTI. :(

If there is a Hans end-credit scene, I wonder if it'll foreshadow a possible plotline for a sequel. Hans will know Elsa is gone and the kingdom undefended and try to invade it because he won't view any potential threat there anymore. Especially since for him, Anna is still the same, naive girl he met in the first Frozen so he won't consider her much of an obstacle to his plans.

Disney just released a snippet of "Into the Unknown."

Wow, they really gave Idina Menzel's pipes a work-out.

And “The Next Right Thing” and “When I’m Older,” which is, yikes, clearly the new “A Guy Like You” of Disney. Could this be a response to the leaked ending? I know Disney released Emma’s Something There right after it was leaked.

Well, after listening to the snippets; I wasn't really impressed With Into The Unknown when I heard the first piece of it. But after having listened to the longer peak, I don't think it sounds that bad. Though I doubt it will top Let it Go. When I'm Older sounds fine, though the orchestration makes it more juvenile than it needs to be. The Next Right Thing sounds generic and forgettable. But these peaks were too short to really get an impression from.

"When I Am Older" is much worse than "A Guy Like You". It's not even close. I think Disney releasing these snippets is a response to the leaks of the songs from the toys. It can't be a coincidence that they all have the same length and start from the same point as the song snippets from the dolls. I couldn't get a read on "The Next Right Thing" yet. I'll need to hear more to pass on judgment. I really only liked "Into the Unknown" so far. Looking forward to listen to them in full as well as the rest of the songs.

Agreed. It's also disappointing there aren't any reprises of the new songs.

Well, that was just a rumor. It was never officially confirmed.
