Hi I'm SpellWovenNight. Funny enough my username is actually based off Disney song, "Bella Notte" from Lady and the Tramp, although not based on the orginal Disney song sung in the movie but the version sung by George Givot.
The night will weave its magic spell,
When the one you love is near!
Oh this is the night, and the heavens are right!
On this lovely bella notte!
I'm sixteen I live by Chicago. I've pretty much been living on Disney movies since I was born and the first professional musical I saw in Chicago was Beauty and the Beast. I've been to Disney World only four times and a Disney cruise once. My family or at least my mom is just obsessed with Disney as I am, to put in perspective, my dog's name is Disney. My latest Disney obsession as been banners and avatars and I've collected around 500 of them. If you're ever looking for a banner or avatar I could always email you one!

Hi! I'm Barbossa. You may know me from such message boards as MiceChat, VisionsFantastic, MouseBits, and TheGoonies.org, but not MousePlanet; someone stole my identity on there.
Anyway, I'm nearing 28 (in Aug), single, no kids. I just finished my BBA and am currently looking for work. I also got a Dipl EET.
Loved Disney when I was a kid. And then of course adolescence came and the interest kind of disappeared a bit. And then College and University came and there wasn't much time to watch movies. My interest came back when Robin Hood: The Most Wanted Edition came out. This is one I watched countless of times when I was a kid, so for nostalgiac reasons I picked up a copy. Then Peter Pan came out and it was one that I always wanted as a kid so I picked that one up. It started from there and now I have 29 of the animated classics on DVD (and hoping to get them all) and 21 live-action Disney movies.
I've been to Disneyland 4 times, the most recent this past May.
I've lurked around on this website long enough so I finally decided to join the message board.

Hey!
I just discovered this thread so I thought I would post something
I’m 22 years old, French Canadian, in a relationship, no kids. I’m a medical student, going to be a physician (finally!!!) in less than 2 years.
I loved Disney movies when I was a kid. The first Disney movie I saw was The Little Mermaid when it came out in theatres. I had a few of the classics on VHS at home so I used to watch Snow White and Cinderella over and over again. My favourite was, at that time, Beauty and the Beast… I didn’t have the VHS at home but my neighbour had it so I kept asking her everyday if we could watch it!!!
When adolescence came I had other interests but I continued watching Disney movies in theatres. Then, university came and I had to move from my parents place. That’s when I bought my first DVD player. The first DVD I bought was Aladdin PE. And that’s the DVD that started it all… now I own over 170 Disney movies.

As a longtime lurker who just joined, thanks for this site as it is an INVALUABLE reference/resource for comparing various DVD editions and other highly useful information. Clearly the BEST place I have found on the web for Disney DVD info
Here's my "Disney story" - thorough if a bit long
I have been a fan of classic Disney films/TV, music, characters, and theme park attractions since I was a toddler.
Other than a few childhood record albums, my first BIG exposure to "Disney culture" was a trip to WDW at the age of 5. I fell in love with the characters, immersive theming, and Audio-animatronics attractions, particularly the ones with a strong "cuteness level" and MUSICAL context (Small World, Country Bear Jamboree, original Tiki Room, Mickey Mouse Revue, Fantasyland dark rides, etc.) I have been a HUGE fan of these type of attractions ever since!
The now defunct MMR was my first exposure to a lot of the characters and songs from the "Disney Animated Classics", and I am glad to see the excellent Mickey's Philharmagic carrying on this tradition in the exact same building!
After that first trip, I saw EVERY Disney "Animated Classic" that got reissued to theatres, and have seen every DAC from #22 Many Adventures Of Winnie the Pooh and up till present day on it's original theatrical run.
My all time favorite "DAC" remains Dumbo for it's HEART. It is just such a touching and beautiful film, and I love the wall-to-wall music, all of which is extremely catchy, and also contains one of the most sublime, beautiful songs/sequences of all time ("Baby Mine") That film just works perfectly on ALL possible levels for me.
Other faves include Pinocchio, Peter Pan, and anything with lots of animals. So, I am partial to films like Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and also feel that films like The Rescuers, Fox and the Hound, and more recently, Brother Bear and Home On The Range are EXTREMELY underated.
While I enjoy and love most of the DAC's from the Third Golden Age onward, my biggest passion is for the Walt era. (even though he died before I was born) I am also a BIG fan of the overlooked 40's "package" features as they are just so musically strong to me and FUN. I also think the late-Walt, post-Walt, and pre-Mermaid DACs are underated because I think they have memorable character animation and voice talent, and are, to my taste, often very funny films. (Sword In the Stone, Robin Hood, etc)
As for classic Disney live action, aside from obvious choices like the classic "hybrid" musicals such as Mary Poppins, Song Of The South, So Dear To My Heart, and Pete's Dragon, many of my favorites are the often overlooked period films that revolve around a strong bond between children and a beloved animal. I am referring to titles like The Three Lives Of Thomassina, Big Red, and Rascal, which I find have an incredible amount of sincerity and HEART.
I'm also a big fan of the classic animated shorts, especially the Silly Symphonies and the "special" shorts like Ferdinand the Bull, Susie The Blue Coupe, The Little House, and Lambert The Sheepish Lion. My favorite Silly Symphonies are The Old Mill, Ugly Duckling (second version) Farmyard Symphony, Funny Little Bunnies, Wise Little Hen, Pied Piper, etc.
My favorites of the "Fab Five" are Pluto and Donald. Pluto because I'm a dog fan and Donald because his cartoons simply make me laugh the most (especially when those mischevous rodents, Chip and Dale, are involved!)
Generally ANYTHING that would have ran on the late, great "Vault Disney" or released in "Disney Treasures" tins from the "Walt Disney Productions" era is something I either like very much, or in many cases, love passionately.
It's hard to pick a favorite Disney song because SO MANY of them are so extremely catchy and fun. I am generally partial to the Sherman Brothers and the earlier Frank Churchill/Olliver Wallace/Tin Pan Alley eras.
As for ballads, two that I find the most touching (besides Baby Mine mentioned above) are Feed the Birds by the Shermans and Colors Of the Wind by Menken/Schwartz. Both are fantastic songs with truly beautiful lyrics.
Like many of you, an official uncut Song Of The South DVD is at the top of my wishlist, along with R1 So Dear To My Heart and a R1 reissue of the 40's "Package" DACs, this time UNCUT! (the shortened Make Mine Music release was a travesty)
I would also like to see all of the Walt-era live action films released and a LOT more of the classic anthology episodes, particularly the 20 (or more) theme park episodes and featurettes, whose surface has only been scratched on DVD (and some that HAVE been released are missing footage, like the DL 10th Anniversary Show).
I'm also a big fan of the animal-oriented anthology episodes that could have been theatrical releases, such as Hector The Stowaway Dog, Sammy, The Way Out Seal, etc.
And then there's all the classic adventure episodes like Scarecrow Of Romney Marsh. Sooo much great material from that show...
And the complete Zorro series released to the general public in R1 would also be nice.
Besides Disney, other favorite film/TV characters/properties/genres include the Muppets, Pixar (now both part of Disney, of course), Rankin/Bass, classic musicals (Wizard Of Oz, Sound Of Music, Willie Wonka, etc) and generally anything with a strong element of fantasy and/or period atmosphere that transports me to another time and/or place. And film adaptations of iconic literary classics which was of course a staple of Walt-era live action and animation. And generally any "family film" or fictional TV series past or present primarily about animals (Babe, Charlotte's Web, Lassie, Flipper, Gentle Ben, Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, Air Bud, etc)
I am also a passionate theme park fan who loves Walt Disney World, Audio-animatronics, dark rides, roller coasters, and zoological parks. Of course I love Disneyland too but have taken many more trips to WDW and have even done a few stints as a "seasonal" resident of Orlando with a "Premium" AP.
My favorite WDW park has always been the Magic Kingdom; my favorite "land" has always been Fantasyland.
My favorite MK attractions are EVERY attraction in Fantasyland (past and present) plus Country Bear Jamboree (all three shows) Splash Mountain, the original Tiki Room show, and Carousel Of Progress, and of course the coasters Space Mountain And Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
My favorite WDW coasters are (in order) Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Expdition Everest, Rock & Roller Coaster, and Barnstormer.
I'm also a HUGE fan of Figment and even though the first version of Imagination was my favorite, I am glad the little purple guy was at least put back into the ride.
So my all-time faves in Epcot and the other parks in addition to the alredy mentioned coasters are (in no particular order):
Epcot - Imagination (Versions 1 and 3), Kitchen Kabaret, El Rio Del Tiempo, Gran Fiesta Tour, Maelstrom, Seas With Nemo and Friends, World Of Motion, Horizons, Universe Of Energy/Ellen's Energy Adventure
Disney Studios - Muppet Vision, Star Tours, Great Movie Ride, Voyage Of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast Live, Walt Disney: One Man's Dream
Animal Kingdom - It's Tough To Be a Bug, Killimanjaro Safaris, Affection Section, Flights Of Wonder, Finding Nemo: The Musical, Dinosaur, Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends, Festival Of The Lion King, and the animals themselves found on the various trails.
I enjoy all the parades and nightime fireworks and my all-time faves are the Main Street Electrical Parade, Christmas Parade, Spectromagic, and the underated Electrical Water Pageant in Seven Seas Lagoon, and for the nightime shows my faves are Wishes and Fantasmic.
Well, I guess that about covers my Disney faves and history. Thanks again for such a THOROUGH and comprehensive site.

I'm a 21 year old guy. (almost 22)
As with every other American kid, I grew up with Disney films.
Then there were the few teenage years I was "too old for Disney cartoons."
Then in 2002, when I was 17, I saw the BATB DVD on sale at Costco for $10 and speculated weather to get it or not. Thankfully I got it. My parents had no objection, even though I felt slightly embarrassed when I showed them what I was buying.
After watching the film, there was no shame to be felt in buying it. It was a great reintroduction to Disney animation.
I have been collecting the Platinum DVDs ever since and have just recently discovered the "Disney Treasure" tins and have started collecting them also.
Watching the films gave me an appreciation for animation as an art form. They made me want to draw even more. However unlikely it may be, It would be a dream come true to become a Disney animator.

I made my own Disney resort in my home
Hi everybody!
My real name is Martin.
Since I was a boy I want to be stay a holiday in Walt Disney Word in Florida. This park was new at this time. But my parents haven’t the money and so this wish has to be forgotten the next years.
In the year 1995 I have to make a business trip as programmer to Grapevine. This town lies between Dallas and Fort Worth in Texas. I remembered suddenly of this forgotten wish as I spoke with my boss in Germany about my programming tasks in the States. The firm I worked paid the transatlantic flights. I only paid the trip from Dallas to Orlando.
The seven days in WDW was the happiest time of my life!
In Disney MGM Studios there was a gallery. I was very impressed about the fine pictures they called animation cels. These pictures were beautifully framed. Much more surprising was their high prices!
The next times were hard for me. I got incapable of working as programmer. I make a profession as librarian.
I visited the Disney Store in Frankfurt. I started my video collection. I want the laserdisc more, but in Europe the laserdisc has had no success.
In the Disney Store there was one cel from the limited edition: It was the dingelhopper scene from the little mermaid. This picture was beautiful! I got this picture immediately. I paid the high price without hesitation.
In the library I learned how to search books in bibliographies and databases in a professional way. I studied the appearance of Disney books. I ordered a few of them with the interlending library service.
Then the DVD arises. I saw that Disney don’t make in Europe a reasonable offer for collectors. I decided to immigrate with my hobby into the United States. Physically I stay in Germany. But in my home I live in the States!
I live in my private Disneyland now. Yes, I really live in my own Disney-resort. I have a home cinema.
UltimateDisney I used as an important source for my orders since 2003. This was enough for me. Your treads on UltimateDisney were very helpful too. I decided to join your board because nobody I know has a special interest in Disney.
Oh, a beautiful parcel from my international retailer is on my desk! I will open it. It is full of Disney-DVDs.

Hello leuchtmuschel, welcome!
I like your name, glowing clam, any reason why you chose that name?
I'm sorry you couldn't work as a programmer anymore. Was it to program computers at Grapevine? What company was Grapevine?
That trip to Disney that they paid was a very generous offer, how nice of them, and how wonderful for you! And now, I'm glad you can live at home in a world which makes you happy.

Re: I made my own Disney resort in my home
I'm from the same side of the Atlantic as you are. This is hardly of any importance now, but I'd just like to comment on laserdiscs. Around 1994 I had been collecting Disney videos for a while, but then concluded that VHS tapes simply weren't good enough. I eventually got into collecting Disney LDs. It was possible since there were a few specialist stores that imported them from the US and Japan. That was a whole lot better than the few titles that were actually released on LD in Europe.leuchtmuschel wrote:I visited the Disney Store in Frankfurt. I started my video collection. Wow, I didn't know such a thread existed! xD
Anyway, hello everybody! My full real name is Eric Boot, the reason why I'm called "JaceDisney91" is because I like to sometimes use one of my original characters' names for usernames on internet forums and the like, plus I'm not too good at usernames anyway so that was the best I could do back there.
I'm 1 month before becoming 16 years old, I live in Hertfordshire, England in the United Kingdom where I've been born and raised and I've had a very strong love for animation for practically my entire life. I think my earliest exposure to Disney films was when my Mum one day when I was really tiny put on a video with "The Little Mermaid" on it and seeing the whole movie from beginning to end just blew me away and from then on I became interested in any animated movie Disney release or have already released. I then watched on video soon after movies like "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and "The Lion King" (that still is my all-time favourite film) among others before seeing "Pocahontas" in the cinema in 1996 as my first experience to a real cinema. These films and countless others through Disney (and also Pixar) have helped further boost my immense interest in animation and inspired me to try and achieve my aspirations of becoming a master animator. And when I discovered such a place like this for people who also have a big passion for these movies, I thought it would be an excellent idea for me to join and so I did and that's how I'm typing this down right now for all of you.
And that's my story in a nutshell. Thanks for reading, see you around!
- Eric.

How I become a glowing clam
Thanks for your nice answers!
@Disney Duster
Names are very important form me. I’m in the Web since spring 2006. I needed a nickname for several reasons. I want a name with a special meaning. The nick has to be a part of my personality; it should be unique and easy to speak for everyone, and it should be a German one too.
I started to think. I checked it on eBay. eBay has a good check for existing nicks. My name should have to do something with the Disney classic “The little mermaid”. I tried austernperle (oyster pearl) but this name exists in the web. I tried muschelfrack (clam dress coat) but this name is in conflict with my personality. I tried 10 different names. eBay says: It exist! After 90 minutes of thinking I tried leuchtmuschel (glowing clam). I loved this free clam in the web. I just sit in and “snap”: I got this nickname!
Grapevine is a small town. I had to make a program for acupuncture.

I have only one 2-disc CAV laserdisc set from the film "The little mermaid". Unfortunately I have no laserdisc player.

Hi everyone! I'm new here, and I remember a long time ago stumbling upon UD, and it's the best Disney DVD resource out there. I've been viewing this forum for a few weeks, maybe a month now, and I've finally decided to join recently!
I've always been a fan of Disney movies, and I have tapes of my favorite animated classics like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Aladdin. And My favorite Disney movie is The Little Mermaid. However, I lost interest in Disney after a while as I got older.
I'm 22 right now and I'm still into Disney stuff, my interest re-sparked when High School Musical came out, and the live action stuff has really caught my attention lately, Hannah Montana being a guilty pleasure of mine lol. And now my interest in animated movies has re-sparked as well.
Anyways, I hope to chat and make friends with all of you! I'm from Toronto, Canada by the way! And my dream is to one day go to Disneyland, since I've never been. Any other Canadians here?
