According to Box Office Mojo, Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," has made $314,321,986 worldwide as of January 2, 2011. I believe that by the time it reaches March 2011, it should reach up to about $400,000,000 to $500,000,000, to my guess. What do you guys think it should reach to, $600,000,000 perhaps? Just a thought.

I would say $ 180 + $ 340 = $ 520 total. The film premieres here in Brazil is on Friday, and pre debut was a rousing success, I believe that the film gets a good box office throughout south america!

What I would like Tangled to do is turn a large profit, but Disney basically killed any chance of that happening by spending $260 million on just making it. Even if it reached $500 million it wouldn't really have made a profit. My guess is it will end up earning between $400 and $500 million worldwide.

It's a shame given how well its been received in comparison to any Disney animated release of the past 10+ years.

Umm.... doesn't Disney already consider it a hit, despite its big budget? :?

There is a rumor on the net that says that just to break even, a movie need to make at least twice its budget, which is usually the production budget and the promotion budget combined.
I'm not sure when this rumor started, but it could have been with Avatar.

I find, to me only, that making a sequel for Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," is a bad idea. Besides, in the end of the movie, her hair gets cut off by Eugene (Flynn), and her hair turns brown. Also, the name, "Tangled," is a reference to her hair. If they ever do a sequel, then Disney will have to come up with a better name, or better yet, a better twist. I feel relieved too about no plans for a sequel, unless they got a good story.

"hit" and "profit" are two different things.

I am not condoning a sequel here, but I could see them doing something like "Tangled, Too!" Maybe Rapunzel and Flynn have a daughter and somehow the magical hair gene was passed down to her. I could picture her with super-long pigtails or something, This way... they could keep it about the hair and not change the original story or what happened with the haircut. I'm sure they could make something up about the magic still being retained "deep inside" Rapunzel, even with her hair being cut.

atlanticaunderthesea could you ask them how different the "darker" version Rapunzel was? What major story changes occured?

also, if they have any idea if some of that test footage from the Rapunzel Unbraided era, like her talking to the squirrel or of her on the swing will ever see the light of day, either on a "making of" on the dvd or something

and finally, it would be interesting to see if there was any issues with the disney merchandising people about cutting Rapunzel's hair and turning it brown

but i would really love if you could ask them about some of the earlier story ideas from the darker Rapunzel!

thanks so much!

How about Untangled? Or Tangled 2: The Cut?

Oh, god. I feel awful for making those up. O_O

why was the sequence of flynn tied up and "punching himself" not in the film?

just got back and loved it!! i quite liked maximus' mannerisms, and they went down well with the audience as well. there were only about 10 of us and all adults, including 3 guys in their 20s with no girlfriends in sight, lmfao.

I really like all the questions asked so far! If you could ask them about deleted characters (like the dogs and squirrels, and any others), that'd be cool.

Also, was Gothel the only villain they had created, or in earlier versions, had they thought of a different type of villain? (Probably not, but maybe.)
