I am presently watching Remember The Titans: Director's Cut, the only football movie that I can stand. A truly epic film.

Watched two movies the other day.

The Gnome Mobile: It was a pretty ok movie. I think I may have seen it before a really long time ago. It was pretty entertaining I guess. It;s amusing to watch older movies and see how they did special effects and what not.

Nanny McPhee: I rather enjoyed this movie. Pretty predictable but I think most movies are anyway. I'm still uncertain why she was ugly in the beginning and hten as the children learned their lessons than the ugly bits started disappearing and she was pretty at the end. Oh well.

Recently saw:

Godzilla (the U.S. one for a few years back): This is one of those movies that wasn't well received, but I really didn't see why. I think it's a great popcorn film, which is all it was meant to be.

Curious George: This was very cute and I loved the look of it. It blends CG with 2D, and it does it really attractively. I do have to say though, that a lot of the verbal humor fell flat, especially in the beginning.

Also saw "Stay Alive," that new horror film where if you die in the video game, you die in real life. Used the old Elizabeth Bathory story, but adapted it to an American setting. Interesting. Not a bad idea, but it was a little boring after a while. I think I enjoyed the cheap-o horror flick, "Tamara," which we saw last week, much better than this or most big screen horror flicks lately. It was just more fun and interesting, even if the acting was bad.

Curious George

Post by jediliz »

Took me a few nights, but I finally watched my Curious George dvd. I didn't get to see it in the theatre, so I bought the DVD. And I loved it so much.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

I caught Ella Enchanted on TBS today. I had forgotten how much I liked this film. Anne Hathaway has a gift of taking an otherwise dull preteen flick and turning it in to something i can watch over and over.
The only problem with the film, IMO, is crappy CGI and horrible acting from Cary Elwes...

I watched the BBC TV-Bio-Movie "HG Wells: At War with the World" last night. Very good it was too - I learned a whole lot about HG Wells from watching it. He was more visionary than even his writings show. However, the man was also a grade one c**k.

Lady and the Tramp - First time I've seen my Platinum release (got a multi-region dvd that actually manages to read different regions! Ain't that a hoot). Anyway, I think it's obvious by now that this is one of Disney's best [and most original] movies, so I'll comment on the restoration. WOW. The picture and sound are so vividly clear. I couldn't help but think while watching the movie that this is an 80s/90s feature. The colors were popping out of the screen, and it was truly a joy to view. My dad couldn't believe that this feature was over 50 years old!

Aladdin- 10/10 :D :D :D If only I could give this an improper fraction! 10/10 isn’t an exaggeration, I honestly can’t find a flaw in this movie, it’s fantastic, perfect animation, storyline, characters, musical score, etc. It’s my Favourite Movie Ever (along with TLM)

Fantasia- 7.6/10 :) Hmm…I liked it, a bit boring in places (Sorry Sequel :P) I’m not a classical music person, and it was quite abstract and…odd, however I can see why so many people adore it.

You Got Served- 5.4/10  Pfft…I thought this was crap! Enjoyable in the dance scenes, but the acting was horrible, and the storyline was so predictable!

Bambi- 8.1/10 :) IMO, It doesn’t deserve to be a Platinum Edition (I never saw it as a child, maybe that’s why I don’t appreciate nearly as much as other U.D’ers), Although, it wasn’t in U.D’s Top 14 Animated Classics, that’s why I think Alice in Wonderland and THoND should be P.E’s and Bambi and Fantasia shouldn’t. Nevertheless, I love this film, a triumph for Disney!

Cinderella- 9.2/10 :D An excellent achievement for Walt Disney! I personally don’t find anything wrong with the restoration, except Cinderella’s hair color is a bit pale. This is a great movie, I skipped the scene were Gus and Jaq sneak past Lucifer to get corn though (I find that part really boring)

Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest- 9.7/10 :D :D :D YES! I FINALLY SAW IT! A.M.A.Z.I.N.G :D I loved it, the original is my favourite non-animated film, and I can’t wait for the third!

Chicken Run- 5.8/10  I had to watch this in English believe it or not. We have to compare it to The Great Escape for an assignment :? To compare and contrast it’s similarities and differences in film techniques or something. I remember seeing this in theatres and loving it, but now I don’t really like it, I felt it was for younger kids, and I hate claymation.

Much Ado about Nothing- 7.2/10 :) It was fun, I’m studying Shakespeare at the moment, and have been for ages, which is getting kinda boring, but I still liked this film. Excellent Cast, Clever Story, I liked it.
