Pssh, don't listen to Variety...ugh. And her hair is of course not going to look like anything we're used to seeing, as it's a) 70 feet long, b) wet, and c) glowing at the time. Some people really are impossible to please
That's what I think. If you've never seen a wet, shining golden extra-long hair, you can't compare it with spaghetti xDDD

Now I am hungry.

Although, wet extra long long blonde hair doesn't stay together underwater. It would be all over the place. Can't say I have seen glowing hair though, but I have seen very very long blonde hair underwater.

But really, what can you expect? They are animating it, it isn't real, so it isn't going to look exactly like real extra long blonde glowing hair would.

Regarding the hair issue, yeah, it is silly. Hair is one of the hardest things to do in a CG movie. If the head moves, so does the hair. That is HARD to simulate in a computer. Even the hair on a body can be tricky to animated, especially a character like Sully from Monster's Inc.

Rapunzel is a special case. Her hair is inhumanly long AND is magical. It might not be perfect, but it is above and beyond other features has done. I mean, just look at this...

The hair in these movies are stationary, and yet they look off, very plastic and unreal, because it is easier to animated. Disney could have gone this route with Rapunzel, but they didn't. They worked hard on it, so everything else is nitpicking.

Got the artbook, and it's gorgeous!! Sadly the art from the credits isn't in here :/

Tried yet another Disney store for the graphic novel....no dice :(
EDIT: Got a response from Disney store's Guest Services saying the graphic novel is not available online (duh) and to call a mail-order department number....I just might. Getting fed up trying to find this thing!

So I went to Disneyland yesterday and found something quite amazing!
Image

A little boy dressed up as Flynn! His sister was Rapunzel as well. It was quite adorable to see.

Good call

I love him too! Apparently he was supposed to be a big kinda slow-ish fellow ala Hercules. He looks like he gives great hugs!

AAAH COME ON, DISNEY!!!

Finally, you guys were going to be progressive! You were going to have a big guy for a Disney hero, finally, us teddy bear, chubby guys would have a Disney hero we could admire. But nooooooo, you had to go down the handsome, cocky hero route.

...I am still excited for Tangled and it's likely I will like Flynn in the end... BUT I DEMAND EQUAL RIGHTS FOR US LOVABLE TEDDY BEAR MEN!

:x

... :P

Disney always ends up toning down the interesting stuff they come up with in their early phases, and it always frustrates me to see them always play it safe.

Amazon Junior Novel Sample shows most of book

Post by Tangled »

One thing I noticed when I logged into Amazon and looked at my recommended items is that the Junior Novel for Tangled has a "look inside" feature. This allowed me to read more than half the book, and I've never bought anything on Amazon! It's a junior novel, so it retells the enitire movie in book form. Here's a link-

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/073642 ... i=507846#_

Just click on the book cover. (just be warned. FILLED with spoilers.) I also found a new image in the book. Here:

I won't start hating HotManMeetingFlynn though. (I like the way he's contrasted with the Stabbington brothers.) But THIS needs to happen sometime soon! :)

Hahaha WOW 'Bear' Flynn sure is popular!! Hey guys on tumblr!

I have like, 2 more pictures of Bear!Flynn among some others I'm gonna start uploading now.

EDIT: By the way, it was John Lasseter's idea to make Flynn sexier, and I love current!Flynn! Bear!Flynn seems to have been a REALLY early concept and had been replaced by the 'Bastion' design before his final incarnation anyway. Hopefully someday we'll get a big snuggly dude like this!

EDIT 2

Holy crap, do I need this art book! I'm about to drown myself in that Photobucket.

I can understand why they slimmed down Flynn–bear!Flynn doesn't strike me as a thief, but more of a gentle, good guy. (Of course, the subversion would have been awesome.) He and Rapunzel look awfully cute together, though–their size difference is downright cute. Bastion's design is kind of awesome, although I can't really see him screwing up like Flynn does. (Also, I'm sure just looking at all his oddments gave his animators a headache.)

I really love the concept art where Gothel looks very similar to Rapunzel; perhaps it's because her hair isn't colored in, but it looks great. And Rapunzel's Empire-waisted dresses are so pretty, as well as an interesting new silhouette for a Disney princess. Thank you so much for posting these!
