jpanimation wrote:The Fantasia artwork is the best I've ever seen for the movie. I really like the art, I rank it up with Pinocchio's Platinum cover. Of course, it just says 'Disney' and not 'Walt Disney' above the title. Absolutely no constancy from this company. Also, WTF is Fantasia 2010?
I definitely agree. Looking at the big one that miniroll posted, i like it better than the other one that is already posted. I hope that this one is real, and if it is, Region 1 gets it as well.

And miniroll, it says the artwork is subject to change, so it probably will.

The only thing I am confused about is the Platinum thing. I thought Disney said Platinums were dead.

I'm sure the first cover art isn't real (ahem... Fantasia 2010), and I have my doubts about the second.

I could never doubt the single edition cover - it looks wonderfully accomplished. Sure, they might change the bored (Double Play thing), but at the end of the day the image behind that border that can be kept while they muck about with the details around the sides. Just look how much the Beauty and Beast ones changed

I've just figured out why its a Platinum Edition! Can't believe it took me this long

Currently, the 'Diamond Edition's are replacing what were previously the 'Platinum Editions'. But back when the Platinums were being released, Fantasia was cancelled and Aladdin was placed there instead. Therefore, all the Platinum Editions got the same Lowry restoration (except for Snow White) and were part of the same product line/tier.

Fantasia, on the other hand, was not in that line.

Therefore because it missed out this product line, it is now classed as a Platinum because that is the next tier in particular films release history. The last one, after all, was just a standard 'Classics'/60th Anniversary...

So maybe my doing this tier system, Disney think it gives a product awareness of what is to come/what preceded it?

I hope the US release gets the same cover art for Fantasia. That's absolutely beautiful! Come on Disney....give us a press release!

The Little Mermaid did NOT get a Lowry restoration the only platinum that looks like ass.

Hmm, it must have missed out for some reason. Either way, Fantasia is sure gonna look fab!

I don't think the special features will be as good as the Diamonds though. Even on the Disney website, they bang on about how this new format will take tech to the next level, unparalleled level of interactivity blah blah... Snow White was a good start

Well, I think the other covers that were posted here earlier are/were real. If you notice, most of the clip art on the new cover comes right off the covers posted earlier. This makes me think that the old ones were earlier designs or (I hope this isn't the case) more recent updates. If anything, the new one sports the classy logo that we've all become accustomed to.

That, or we have one talented fanboy with a ton of time on this hands :P

Yeah the latest one has the original art-deco font for the film title. I think its one of the best covers I've seen in years, but it annoys me how Disney keep changing the cover format. The Sleeping Beauty one was my last favorite because it not only kept the original title font, but the art around it and the layout was wonderful.

I felt with Snow White they made the cover a bit too busy, Dumbo should have really had font that resembled the original film title card. But now with all this 'Double Play' business and the strangely added 'Classics No.' on Dumbo (why not just start at the first Diamond title?) they're going to look a bit out of sync.

In a perfect world, I would love to see a special box set for Fantasia like they did with Snow White, where they included a book and art cards, etc. That would be wonderful! And as for the box design, it would just be a replica of the title card at the beginning of Fantasia; all navy blue gradient with the red art deco text :)

This. I like this new one better, but it will probably be the older ones.

That really is a cool cover! I hope they change the Fantasia/2000 one to something like that. But probably not likely.

Btw, is there anyway I can look for the Disney VHS Making of Fantasia online? Meaning the one that came in a special collector's release with the first video release in 1991?

I whole-heartedly agree with both statements. I think both Fantasia covers are real. The question is which are final. It's possible both are and that each region is getting a different cover. I hope not because this new one's gorgeous. I feel it's more even-handed in what segments are represented on the cover, and I just love that sky background. Easily the best cover the film's been given. Hopefully we'll see a Fantasia 2000 one that matches this.

Play.com now has Fantasia up available to Pre-Order! :D :D

I hope these aren't 'all' the special features, but the only ones listed are:

[/i]Roy Disney Tribute
Disney View
Disney Family Museum
Interactive Art Gallery and Screensaver
Audio Commentary with Brian Sible

Duration: 2 hours 4 minutes (so it doesn't have the full intermission)

DTS-HD Master Audio (5.1)

Oh, and its a pound less now at £16.99 so all good!

[For some reason, the Combo Pack is listed at just £17.99... error? not sure, either way I'm ordering it just in case lol)

A Roy Disney tribute? That would be a great feature! I hope this is true and it stays on.

And what is the conversion rate from pounds to USD?
