The Princess and the Frog
I guess it does look like the old wedding-like concept art, but it's still different, and much, much better than that dress or the blue one we've seen most of. SEE I TOLD you she should have a green dress and some froggy-foreshadowing. It's made to look like lilly pads!
It really is beautiful. I even like her crown, even that looks kind of lilly pad/leaf inspired (oh it seems it is more white lilly petals!), but just plain better than the ones we've seen before. Finally, a princess with a green dress. So many of them wear blue...

There's the possibility that Tiana might wear different dresses in the movie.Disney Duster wrote:I guess it does look like the old wedding-like concept art, but it's still different, and much, much better than that dress or the blue one we've seen most of. Maybe she'll wear the green dress during the ending or the climax of the film.
That green dress feels more "epic" and "magical" than the white/blue dress, so it makes sense she wears it during the final moments of the film.

The Princess and the Frog
Oh I mean it appears her crown is actually like more white lilly petals. Cool!
Yes pap, that sounds probable. but I am still quite hoping that either her blue dress will change, including become some color other than blue...I wouldn't mind blue green.
I wonder what the film would have been like if they kept her a chambermaid, then she'd have a chambermaid outfit instead of that blue thing. I wish no one had complained. How can you change artistic vsion like that? But I guess it's sticking more to the original story by keeping her a princess...so...hm..change that dress! Is that really what 1920's Jazz princesses wore...? Anyone know? And it still doesn't have to be blue.
This is one of my highly favorite things to do. Talk and complain and offer my thoughts on this stuff!

There's a new summary out!:
"When the free-spirited, jazz-loving Prince Naveen of Maldonia comes to town a deal with a shady voodoo doctor goes bad and the once suave royal is turned into a frog. In a desperate attempt to be human again, a favor in exchange for a fateful kiss on the lips from the beautiful girl, Tiana, takes an unexpected turn and leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana to the banks of the almighty Mississippi and back in time for Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
An unforgettable tale filled with music, humor and heart where two frogs—along with the help of a 200-year-old voodoo priestess, a love-sick Cajun firefly, and a trumpetplaying alligator—discover that what they want isn’t as important as what they need.
The Princess and The Frog will feature Disney’s first African American princess, Tiana, who lives in New Orleans during the Jazz Age. Other characters include Louis, a trumpet-playing alligator, and Ray, a love-sick Cajun firefly.
The Princess and The Frog marks the return to hand-drawn animation from the revered team of John Musker and Ron Clements with music by Oscar®-winning composer Randy Newman (Monsters, Inc., Cars, Toy Story)."
There's going to be a Disney art exhibition starting in Novemeber featuring some art from TPatF - this summary comes from a press release for that and can be read below:

But..... who's the second frog?
And I'm even more confused because the movie's based off of The Frog Princess, but the concept seems more like The Frog PRINCE. Which one could it be?

The Princess and the Frog
It's not based on The Frog Princess. When it was called "The Frog Princess", people thought it was based on that story, but Ultimate Disney said it would be "a female spin on the original fairy tale" of The Frog Prince...or I think that's what they said, and for all I know, that was an assumption they made.DisneyJedi wrote:And I'm even more confused because the movie's based off of The Frog Princess, but the concept seems more like The Frog PRINCE. But the title "The Princess and the Frog" should have clued you in to the fact that it would be about a princess and some one else who's a frog...
It's a good thing Disney changed the title to reveal that yes, indeed, it's really more based on The Frog Prince. This also slightly helps me get over the idea that Disney is only making this as another "Princess movie". It's now a "Princess and a Prince" movie. More like Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast I suppose, though those, and this, can still be called just "Princess movies".
My guess is that the first title, "The Frog Princess", was a reference to (highlight): Princess Tiana becoming a frog.

I wonder if they wanted to separate that type of title from The Lion King and The Little Mermaid , and associate it with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Lady and the Tramp, and Beauty and the Beast.
It's a strange observation, though, save for the former, the films deal with a beautiful lady and a mismatched guy.

Very beautiful concept art or still...Thanks for posting it
The summary sounds great. It just further builds my anticipation for this movie, and I have high hopes that this might be the begining of another Disney Renaissance.
