Oh, that's right. I forgot about that. Thanks. And I won't be surprise if the Lopezes will do the songs for Moana and I agree with you for Go With the Flow song from Finding Nemo The Musical is a perfect example.disneyprincess11 wrote:Well, the good news is that like Glen K's version of Tangled, it does state that they are trying to give Moana a "illustrated" look, so it does sound like that it will have a 2D feel. So, you'll sort of get your 2D movie.TsWade2 wrote:CGI, big surprise! But I'll deal with it.

As for as a musical..........YES!
And yes, I am so relieved that it'll be a musical. And it sounds like the Lopezes will be doing it again. I loved what they did for "Go with the Flow" in Finding Nemo the Musical, so their Polynesian-themed music should be excellent!

Yeah, while it is CG, it wouldn't surprise me if Musker and Clements pushed for a Paperman/Feast/Peanuts look.

I really hope that's the case, even if it's wishful thinking.estefan wrote:Yeah, while it is CG, it wouldn't surprise me if Musker and Clements pushed for a Paperman/Feast/Peanuts look.

Re: Musker & Clements' Moana
You really sure it's outright confirming it'll be a musical? I mean, they could be talking about instrumentals. A movie/show doesn't need to be a musical to have music play a strong role, just look at Suite Pretty Cure.disneyprincess11 wrote:Moana has been confirmed both as a musical and CGI.
Meanwhile, Musker looks forward to learning more about CG and making it work for Moana in an illustrative way (Paul Gauguin, anyone?). It's built around the Disney ethos and music will naturally play a strong role. "We both are fans of music and I think that animation and music go along together."

I just noticed that article is from almost a year ago. It would be interesting to see an update from Musker since then. I wonder if the Peanuts footage has since pushed the Disney team even more to make a movie that looks like that.

It'll probably end up being traditional 3D, but I don't think that's a bad thing.
There's a lot they could do with a Polynesian setting to make it beautiful, artistic, and unique. Frozen was a big step up from Tangled in terms of creativity with 3D animation and they should improve from there.

I'm sorry, but from what I know, this planning is old, so not true.
Only believe what's Disney Animations Studios officially release.

Hey everyone! It's been a little while since I've posted here (been lurking like a creeper in the background in all that time), but I just wanted to say that I will be going to the Ron and John's presentation and their screening of the Little Mermaid on Saturday at the OIAF. If I do get to ask any questions, is there anything pressing I should ask?

Well, the polite pacifist in me says you should start with, "How have you two been doing?"
Then maybe ask, "Do you know what's happening at Disney with their line up?"
If you're going to ask about Moana, just be careful with your wording because I can't help but feel that production may be a touchy issue. (Whether with confidentiality or the hand-drawn vision vs the CG expectation.)

Re: Musker & Clements' Moana
Hmm, why did you post this news in the Moana thread, Sotiris? I read that comment on Steve's blog but assumed the footage was for Zootopia as that is their next film.
Do you mean there's a slim chance the Meander software may yet be streamlined and made available for feature production?
EDIT: Ah. Steve says that the movie in question is "in development", so I suppose that rules out Zootopia, as that is almost certainly nearing full production.
