Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Thanks to all those who answered my question about the Oscars. I totally forgot about Meryl Streep. Good for Julie Andrews, though. I believe if My Fair Lady had not been released in 1964, Mary Poppins probably would've gotten Best Picture, but what do I know?
As for this film being nominated for Oscars, unfortunately, I think it only has high chances at the creative and technical awards. I'll just be happy if this is a financial and critical success. From the early reviews, the only bad thing people have to say about the film is that it's either too sweet or too traditional, which really are just subjective viewpoints.
disneyprincess11, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Hahaha. Beauty and the Beast hasn't even started filming yet. People thought Saving Mr. Banks and Enchanted had great chances of being nominated for multiple Oscars and look what happened.

Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Wasn't Aline Brosh McKenna attached to the project? I just realized her name was removed from the "Screenplay By" credits. I know Chris Weitz was hired to "revise" her screenplay, but now it appears as though he's the main writer. Anyone know what happened?

I've been wondering about that too...

Yes, I've often wondered why Aline's name isn't attached to the film anymore. Didn't Disney pay millions for her initial concept? I wonder how her script differed from the final version?
Gosh, the film really is beautiful! I cannot wait to see it again, especially in IMAX! It may not be 3D, but I believe those sets and costumes must be seen on an IMAX screen.

First, the animated feature got a Best Picture nomination. It could happen again. (But, I imagine that that nomination would hurt the chances)
Second, this is based on the Broadway version. Many film adaptions of Broadway shows get nominated for Best Picture, like Chicago [which won], Les Mis, Sound of Music...the list goes on!

You know the limited edition glass slipper that was released that you could buy ? Does anyone know where you can buy it from, as I can't see it on the UK Disney Store website …. ?
Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
It has been revealed that some pivotal scenes were removed during post-production which made the film feel "rushed" most "especially in the beginning" with scenes of five year old Ella now gone. Other deleted scenes and dialogue which were edited for the Theatrical Cut include the following:
-Little Ella running through the meadow.
-Ella and her mother saving the bird.
-The line "Where there is kindness, there is goodness, and where there is goodness, there is magic." was cut.
-The line "...so I'll know as faraway as I may be, that you will be safe." was cut.
-The dialogue between the guests at Lady Tremaine's party - one of them making a sexist remark - was cut.
-The servants reacting to the Lady Tremaines' demands.
-The servants being dismissed was there, but the dialogue was removed.
-The brief conversation between Lady Tremaine and Ella: "What on earth have you been doing?" she asks her stepdaughter rather cruelly. Ella's soft-spoke response: "Dreaming." It's after this sweet quiet moment when Lady Tremaine grows louder with her response: "Then wake up!"
-Some of the dialogue in the fencing scene was cut.
-The dialogue during the Royal Ball announcement was shortened.
-The dialogue explaining that the glass slippers would be a memento was cut.
-The Grand Duke and the Royal Guard questioning Ella after the spell was broken.
-The Grand Duke sitting behind his desk and the prince talking to him about finding the missing girl. The prince says something like "Somebody like that doesn't just vanish."
-There is a scene with Kit putting on his disguise and also telling the Captain why this girl has captivated him so much so that he is willing to forego dealing with diplomatic matters in order to find this missing girl.
-There is a scene after the wedding, but the movie ended with the wedding.
Thanks to tsom for providing this information!

Errrrm isn't that a huge part of the film they've removed ?! Where there is goodness, there is kindness? Thats been the tagline!

I'm sure her mother still tells her to have courage and to be kind. That's what really matters. I don't mind any of those omissions, if they're for the good of the film. And they'll probably add most of those deleted scenes to the Blu-Ray.

Ever since I heard it in the first full-length trailer, it always stuck with me. It was perfect. I'm genuinely disappointed that it was cut from the film.Atlantica wrote:Errrrm isn't that a huge part of the film they've removed ?! Where there is goodness, there is kindness? Thats been the tagline!

I think they should have kept the scene where the Grand Duke approaches Ella on the side of the road after the spell ended. I, in my opinion, thought it would add a little bit suspense of the possibility of Ella being caught. I mean there's a whole suspense sequence with the Grand Duke and the Royal Guards chasing the carriage as midnight approaches. It would have been a great follow up, in my opinion.Old Fish Tale wrote:I'm sure her mother still tells her to have courage and to be kind. That's what really matters. I saw my first commercial for this during The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. They showed the Stepmother smashing the glass slipper, so I'm not sure if that belongs in spoilers or not? Either way, the film looks very good. I probably won't see it until DVD/Blu-Ray, unfortunately; I was lucky to get to see Maleficent in theaters.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"
Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Currently reading the Candau book and other scenes that I don't remember seeing in the film were:
The Grand Duke sitting behind his desk and the prince talking to him about finding the missing girl. The prince says something like "Somebody like that doesn't just vanish." That was not in the film, even though this scene has been shown in the TV spots.
In the book, there is a scene with Kit putting on his disguise and also telling the Captain why this girl has captivated him so much so that he is willing to forego dealing with diplomatic matters in order to find this missing girl. I could see why it was cut because they probably wanted to surprise the audience when the prince does indeed reveal himself later on, but the scene also explained why he was so crazy about finding Ella.

Thank God I'm starting that petition. Thanks OldFishTale for the links! That spot is great, and that "Magic in the Making" featurette was a dream! Yes, the magic and the whole film really look beautiful!
I too wish Aline Brosh McKenna's name was still attached to the screenplay.
So jPod, your source about what was deleted from the film is from the teasers, trailers, spots, and the books?
Atlantica, you can by the live-action butterfly glass slipper from Amazon.com. Click here for that one. You could also try Amazon.Uk or eBay. The slipper even has the Swarovski crystals in the butterfly just like in the movie! But it's a Limited Edition and only 500 were made!

You have good points, but it doesn't mean there is "0% chance" for Cinderella to get nominated for Best Picture, too!disneyprincess11 wrote:That's why I said it has a chance.

Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Yes, that's correct. The two novelizations are based on the screenplay by Chris Weitz. However, in saying that, the illustrated novel is a lot faithful to the screenplay than the Junior Novel.Disney Duster wrote:So jPod, your source about what was deleted from the film is from the teasers, trailers, spots, and the books?

Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
You mean the illustrated novel must be more faithful to the screenplay because it has more scenes and dialogue in it?
Well, I'll probably sign the petition, but I want to see the movie on it's own before I read about anything deleted, and enjoy the film as it is, first.

Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Thank you Duster for the slipper info !
I wonder why they've done a mass cutting so it all seems rushed ? Presume there must have been feedback from the previews that people thought it was too long ?

Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Shouldn't you at least wait for the Blu-Ray details announcement? Perhaps Kenneth already wants to share all those deleted scenes with you. Do you mind exclusions if they're for the good of the film, Disney Duster?
And I need to give credit to DisneyFan09! Rotten Tomatoes is listing the Daily Telegraph's review as negative when it's actually quite positive: 3 out of 5 stars. How odd...
