To quote/paraphrase Jafar:

Mooky - is that blue Genie the one with the reversible head (as in it pops off and has an open mouth on the other side)? If so, I used to have that one. :)

Yup, that's the one - one side has his happy face, and the other one his angry face :).

Ah, cool! I used to hide him behind my back, switch the head around, and surprise my little niece with it. She couldn't figure out how I was getting him to open and close his mouth. :lol: That was the only one I had of the set you're displaying; I only had so much money and my parents kind of frowned upon my growing collection. I used to have a ton of the little PVC figures from the era though, lots of Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid. They kind of dwindled down by the time The Lion King was out, but I had a few of those too. :)

Aw, I bet it must have been akin to magic to her -- and what a perfect toy for that! Thank you for sharing the story! :) I can't even describe how much I was in love with the film at the time (heck, I still am), and when I realized there were movie toys to be collected, my obsession hit its peak. The figures themselves were somewhat expensive, so my dad decided to instill the concept of savings in me: I would get the Aladdin figure I wanted if I saved a certain amount of money over a month, which would then be used for paying half of the price of the toy (he would pay for the other half). However, by the time I saved enough, the figure I wanted ("street rat" Aladdin) had already been sold out so I had to settle for the Prince Ali one. Jafar, Jasmine and Parade leader Genie would eventually come later, but I never really forgot the figure that sparked my interest the most, and luckily, over the years, I was able to track it (and the rest of the collection) down over eBay.

I don't think non-collectors can really understand the fascination collectors have with these things. It's easy for them to dismiss it as hoarding or OCD, but collecting is both fun and frustrating at the same time. And completing your collection and having it displayed for people to see -- it's really a one-of-a-kind, special feeling. I just love reading about and seeing other people's collections, because I know how much love, time, sacrifice and money it took for them to get where they are now. :)

That's cool! :) Baseball Genie (from the film's end -- when Genie throws Jafar's lamp back to the Cave of Wonders) is part of a separate Genie line, which also included Top Hat Genie (seen during "A Friend Like Me") and Frenchman Genie (seen when Aladdin starts describing Jasmine's features to Genie).

Count me in as somebody who also had the reversible head Genie. :wave:

I used to own most of these when they came out, including a Cave Of Wonders playset that was made to be used with these figures....

Ah, fun times.

Too bad I sold my entire Disney collection when I was in my teens, because I thought money was cooler than Disney.

I always like to see the AUS collections because of how consistent they are... they always look so good! Anyone from Down Under, could you please post an updated picture from your Disney collection? Thanks!!

I haven't taken pics of my DVD/BD collection in a while (it was last seen on page 34 of this thread), so with some recent purchases made I figured I'd take the opportunity to post several pics of my collection as of September 2013.

That's all for now :).

DancingCrab, your amplifier looks really similar to my Denon AVR-1611. Is it the same? :D

Did some quick cleaning up of some excess posts. ;)

Figured I'd share a picture of some new Beauty and the Beast memorabilia I've acquired. This doesn't include my VHS/LD/DVD/Blu-Rays (that's elsewhere here, I think), or the books I already had (the 1991 and 2010 making-of's, 1992 Sotheby's catalog, Cartoon Tales, junior graphic novelization, etc.) but just a bunch of print materials I've acquired. This picture is a month old, though, as I've added a few more things since then.

Pay no attention to the sleeping puppy.

Clockwise from bottom left:
* Disney Newsreel
* Disney Magazine
* Storyboarding the Art (signed by Nik Ranieri)
* Broadway Souvenir Program
* Random Lithograph
* TV Guide
* Disney Channel Magazine
* Beauty and the Beast Magazine
* Program from a Toronto production

Strewn about are some of the trading cards (I'm missing 6), and a mini-hardcover book.
