Cinderella III: A Twist In Time

atlanticaunderthesea wrote:Disney Duster, I don't want to rush art, but is your critical assesment of Cindy III ready yet? Or are you still working on it? I'm still desperate to hear your views, as you havent really given the movie a proper critique yet. :)
I am THRILLED you asked me that! I wasn't sure if anyone still cared. Oh, atlanticaunderthesea, you make me so happy.

I've been sick and I've been in a musical at my college (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum) and it's only just finished it's run. I planned on posting the critique in the summer.

Currently I have many notes on what I'll write about, and I gathered some images for my Introduction to the critique, where I talk about if this sequel is "acceptable" in the Disney canon and stuff. The rest of it actually talks about the movie, but I wanted to be thorough. I may post the Introduction soon, but I may have to wait 'til the start of summer, because in my Directing class I'm directing a play, and we have to have rehearsals almost every day for an hour! I'm just kind of busy now...

So summertime is Little Mermaid III trailer time and Cinderella III critique time!

I arrived too late on the forum to post a detailed review on TLM Special Edition movie, and everyone else was all over it as well, so I'm going to save my big review for TLM III ! Again, if anyone cares to listen to my opinion :?

So yes, summer will be TLM trailer time and Disney Duster review time ! :) I look forward to them both :)

Thank you! I have to put on my play this week, so I really hope I get over this sickness soon, just to feel my best in the most crucial time.

Atlanticaunderthesea, I actually have been wanting to talk about the Little Mermaid ride feature in the DVD but also felt it was so late. Maybe I'll talk about it when you post your review. You should do it whenever you can, I'd love to see that! It's always fun for me to be a fan of something and read the opinions of other fans!

Checking this thread to see if I posted my critique? That's so sweet! *internet hug*

You get one, too, for also hoping I get better, tsom! *internet hug*

DISNEYKLIDSTLUFF
Your ideas about how the gospels match up are very good! That's very smart! I know there be some other innacuracies somewhere, but I'll let you know only if I recall them, find them, and think they're important enoug to mention. And I can't find the article about the army numbers being different, so you can't go and see if I was mistaken or the article I read was mistaken, but if I find it again, I'll let you know.

Forigive me, I am just determined to think the Bible doesn't spell out eveything for us! Well, just the fact that some rules in the Old Testament don't apply in the New Testament either indicates God changed his mind or the writers put their own rules into the Bible for people to follow, and then changed their rules. Or somehow they got God's message wrong. Unless something like God becoming man changed some rules, or some other events made it possible for some rules no longer to apply? That I could see, if you can think of any.

Thank you for being comfortable enough to talk with me about those. I guess all I can say is pay attention to when you get them, since you never really thought about it, but I do really doubt you'll suddenly realize your getting them for a person or a sexual thought. As long as asexual doesn't mean you aren't sexual at all, because humans just are sexual beings, then I guess I can live with that. Though I must say, I always have thought that because of nocturnal emmissions and "blue balls", people are meant to be relieved sexually somehow, everyone, and priests just gave into it every once in a while and repented and asked for forgiveness.

I would like to think everyone can find love and closeness, but I know some people, me included, do find it hard to relate to people and feel most at home with objects. I know typing and talking are very different, but I would say you are opening up to me.

Disney Duster, you get hugs right back!

As I do not have the ability to PM anyone, and your email address is not listed, I wanted to email you something, but I cant :( It's something Cinderella - related that I thought you might like. So if you could email me or somthing, so I could email you back? You don't have to of course! But I just thought you might like it! :)

I'm going to e-mail you something, as well. It is Cinderella III related, and could certainly help you in writing your review. The only reason I didn't ask about said review is because I didn't know you were working on it!

Sorry to bump this back up, but I've been wanting to put my two cents on the movie.

While I enjoyed it, I thought it was quite cheesy and corny in some parts (like the Perfectly Perfect song sequence).

I also like how Cindy (my nickname for Cinderella) becomes an action heroine, along with Prince Charming (who despite all his efforts he STILL doesn't have a first name XD ).

I thought Lady Tremaine was a bit too theatrical, especially when compared to the subtle Tremaine seen in the first movie. I find it funny how the minute she got the wand she knew what to do. I wouldn't be surprised if she spent her perfectly perfect year thinking about Cinderella at the palace.

I do find Anastasia's change of heart a bit weird, if only because she was so mean in the first one. Maybe her perfectly perfect year had her wondering about how Cindy's kindness and perseverance got her a nicer life...

But overall the movie was good. I wouldn't call it THE best DTV movie much (MUCH, much less better than the original), but its quite fun.

Oh yeah one last thing, I have a guilty pleasure towards the song "I still believe". Its a song I would NEVER proclaim as one of my favorite in my circle of friends (considering how bubblegum pop it is), yet I always listen it and see many Cinderella music videos featuring that song. I like it so much that I see it as being one of my original character's theme song (especially since in my story, she loses faith in love but gains it when she meets a rather special man).

Copied-and-pasted from my post at the Internet Movie Database.

Subject - Prudence's return and her animation.

Prudence is the only character designed for Cinderella II to make it into the third movie. (The Baker appeared in a picture during the credits, but he didn't really -do- anything in A Twist in Time.) Any thoughts on why we got to see her again? Personally, I love her character. She was, by far, the very best thing about Cinderella II.

In an interview, Frank Nissen said nothing was referenced from the second movie for the making of the third except for Anastasia's having more than one angle to her personality. Well, this is simply not true. Prudence returned. She was clearly taken from C II. Perhaps she was intended to be in the original movie, but the scene or scenes she was in were deleted.* After all, she is the female counterpart of the Grand Duke, but she comes across as much more..."cool" and yet, more easily angered. I can't see her doing the Duke's scenes with the King from the first movie. Both Prue and the King are equally fiery in their tempers, though Prue is notably afraid of what the King and Prince will think.

Anyway, did anyone else notice the obvious differences in her animation? I like her sage dress, but her animation itself was utterly changed. Her eyes are no longer blue-green, her hair color has varied, her design is different, and so forth. Which look of hers do you prefer? Personally, I like both. She looks older in Cinderella III, though. We do get a hint to her age. "In the thirty years that I have supervised this castle..."

She acted a bit different than I thought she would have. I say a -bit- different, not a great deal different. Maybe it wasn't her fault; slapstick and Murphy's Law can happen to the best of us!

*There is no proof whatsoever of this in the Cinderella DVD, but it could have been changed very early in the production.

UltimateDisney,
I wonder how the members of IMDB will respond. Probably along the lines of, "Who is she? Hey, who do you think is hot? I think ______ is!"

I thought Prudence was an interesting character and was glad to see her again in Cindy III. I honestly prefer the Cindy III version, but that's because the animation in the second movie was horrible.

I'm glad to see that someone else liked her. When you say you prefer the Cinderella III version, are you referring to simply her animation, or both her animation and her actions?

I meant her overall animation and design. Since the story focuses on Cindy trying to claim what is rightfully hers Prudence doesn't have enough character development. I liked how she was developed in Cindy II.

I also agree that she does make an excellent female companion to the Duke. To bad the only time we see them together is in Cindy 2.

Speaking of which, I recently watched Cinderella 2. I am the only one that enjoyed the first story, the one where Cindy becomes a princess? The last two are really bad (ESPECIALLY Jacque's story...He was ugly as a human), but I thought the first story was cute if a bit preachy.

You're certainly not the only one! I agree with basically everything you've said in your last reply, in reference to her character development, relationship (which should have received a picture in the credits of A Twist in Time), and the episode. My best friend and I only like to watch the first episode of Dreams Come True, actually.

I am such a dork. The reason I bought Cinderella II five years ago is because I saw the scene where her and the Grand Duke dance in a Disney Store commercial. The really dorky part of this is, I stayed in the Disney Store for much too long just so I could watch them dance over and over again.

Most of us did! Oh, you mean the third episode of the second film? Well, most people who like Dreams Come True prefer this episode to the others, so you're not at all strange. Anastasia has a larger fanbase than Prudence does.

I'm actually debating on whether or not I want to start a comparison topic about Cinderella's red-haired eventual friends.

Yeah, its common to like "A twist in time" since despite corny moments and cheesy elements it WAS well made. The story is leagues better than what we got in Cindy 2. And quite creative I must say!

BUMP!

I saw Cinderella again (been on a Cinderella mood all week...maybe its all the schoolwork >.<) and realized something. You know how in the original movie Bruno scares Lucifer away, then Lucify (hehe) jumps out of the window and falls? When I was a kid I thought he had died because the fall was pretty big. So now here's Cindy 3 and Lucify's fine!

Did anyone thought he died at the end of the movie? Most importantly, do you think a fall like that could've killed Lucifer?
