Me too. I hope the designs will be good, along with the characters and the music.

Well, you are biased against princess films, so it's not exactly like you're above it?

To be honest, I just have a preference for films with female leading characters, music, and/or some involvement of magic--in the same way I have a preference for animated films over live-action films, or 2D over 3D. I believe it's normal to have preferences, and I'm not surprised Disney's draws a larger group of people who like the above, considering they only ever advertise their princess films beyond the original release. That said, I'm not sure how to feel about Giants since I've always thought "Jack and the Beanstalk" was a little boring (sort of like "Little Red Ridinghood").

The reason why a lot of people are looking more to the Disney "fairytales/princess" movies is because the majority are used to them. Disney began with fairytales (SW and Pinnochio) and not to mention, fairytales saved the company twice (Cinderella and Little Mermaid). Plus, some of the 90s biggest hits were fairytales and lately, we are going through a lot of fairytales (Princess and the Frog, Rapunzel, Snow Queen, and now Jack & the Beanstalk), which is the roots of Disney. So, we have fairytales to thank (even though Alice IW was the supposed to be the first) for the Disney movies.

But, I need to say, I'm hoping Disney does Rumplestilken (why is Disney taking so long to do this one, of all fairytales) after Giants and then, take a nice short break from fairytales. The princess lineup is starting to be overcrowded!

I think its because they probably need a right story to make it work. Remember how long it took them to finally adapt Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and the Snow Queen. Although the latter is more of an inspiration, I say when a good adaption comes it will finally be made. I kind of hope they continue the trend of one naming their fairy tale adaptions because its kind become very fun. I think it actually makes this generation of Disney animation different from the Disney Renaissance. All bets on the Rumplestilken adaption being called the Name Game.

But didn't a princess film "Sleeping Beauty" nearly ruin the company? The company staying away from fairy tale princess films for 30 years. Not to mention the last original 2D animated film "Princess & the Frog" a princess fairy tale film killed 2D animation at the studio for the foreseeable future. When Disney princess films do well, they are praised to high heaven, but when they flop, the results can be disastrous.

Yeah, i mean, that's a detail many prefer to ignore, at least in Sleeping Beauty's case. Her film bombed but she's got the iconic "classic princess" look so she makes it into the line.

There's no need to educate me, disneyprincess11. I know my history well and i know all the "reasons" you're saying. Just say you have a preference for this style of movies and that's all there has to be.

unprincess, I like fantasy too, but mostly high fantasy like The Last Unicorn or Lord of the Rings (something that either does the subject very good or plays with the tropes presented). Disney hasn't touched much that subject aside from one film, The Black Cauldron, and that was a bad film soo...:/

I'm honestly happy with any genre or story Disney Animation chooses to explore. Any story has the potential to work if the script is well-written enough and all of the pieces successfully come together. And considering how much I like Disney's recent work, that only increases my excitement for what they plan to do. Zootopia is probably what I'm most curious about, but I'm also looking forward to Moana, Giansts, Big Hero 6 and the other projects they're currently working.

Ok, I'm so sick and tired of people, complaining about the "blonde-hair, blue eye look". Not counting Elionwy, Rapunzel was the first blonde hair girl since Aurora. Tangled came out in 2010 and SB came out in 1959. 51 years later. Aurora is in because she was Walt's last princess from a fairytale. Not because she is blonde!

Wow, you know what? That's an excellent way of thinking the 1-names titles like that! :D I feel better about it now. Still not a big fan, but it sounds better now.

I think it's fair if thedisneyspirit is tired of princesses or not, just like it's fair if most people recognize Disney for their princess films. That's the wonderful thing about Disney, they have so much quality work and have been around for more than long enough to mean something a little different for everyone. How one views Disney may not fully reflect how another does, but it's fair to assume that everyone here loves the studio, so isn't that fantastic?

To me, Disney has always made quality, age neutral work, which is what I'm hoping Big Hero 6 turns out to be. If I can feel even slightly what I do when I watch most of my favorites again or when I saw their recent films, I will be completely happy.

I know, I like both too...I wish they would have done that Lady of the Lake film they had planned to do in the 90's.

So Fredzilla is an elaborate weapon costume. Interesting choice, and the book covers are pretty nice as per usual.

Some part of me wants to be spoiled; it was the same with Frozen when the big reveal about who the villain truly was.
