well personally I think the dumbo section is too huge and the tents in northern parts is unneeded. there they have potential to add in stuff. Also the Aurora Cottage look s small enough to fit any where if they choose to bring it back. In fact it would work with or look nice in the Snow White section.carolinakid wrote:Considering how fabulous the expansion looks, I too will miss seeing the Woodcutter's Cottage and the Tremaine Family chateau. Too bad there wasn't room/interest for everything...

The animatronics look amazing (I have no sound at work), but it looks terribly child-orientated ? It will be a real shame if that is the case.
I sometimes feel silly queueing up with children to meet some characters, but to have a whole meet and greet event geared around children's games may be a bit much for me, when I would really love to go and see it. Maybe you can just go and not take part....

Atlantica, were you ever there for Enchanted Tales when it was in the Fairytale Garden? This is basically the exact same thing (although it appears they've added more "roles" so that each child gets to take part instead of only three or four). It's extremely child-oriented, but you don't have to take part. You can sit and watch.
I think this is more for the experience than the meet and greet. I assume Belle will also be available in the upcoming Princess M&G area opening next year, so you'll have that opportunity for a traditional photo-op with her. In the meantime, you can always meet her at Epcot or at either Princess Dining restaurants.

I'm kinda upset with the recycled Enchanted Tales, Plus the Library seems incredibly underwhelming compared to the actual Library in the film!
That's understandable considering that attempting make the actual one would been too huge and massive plus super expensive.

Yes. This was pretty much the reason much of the FL expansion project got revamped. I won't miss it because Cinderella already has a strong enough representation via the castle and the carousel. The Chateau would have been overkill.atlanticaunderthesea wrote:The Tremaine chateau is something that I will miss; is there any reason given why it was lopped off ?
Too much Princess maybe ....

Not to mention that after seeing the enchanted tales w/ belle video, it pretty much exactly same as what the chateau was going be doing.toonaspie wrote:Yes. Here are my thoughts about the new land as of late...
When I visited WDW last July, the very first place I visited was the Storybook Circus. Even though I missed watching this at night, and the rest of the area was still closed off, I was blown away by the beauty and detail of the circus, especially Dumbo. I think once all of the circus is finished it might become my favorite part of the new land.
Regarding the Enchanted Storytime with Belle thing, I confess I feel torn about it. On one hand, the detail is stunning. I love that we get to see Belle's growth on the wall, and even a portrait of her mother! I love how it transitions from the cottage to the castle, and the animatronics for Wardrobe and Lumiere are some of the best I've seen. But on the other, it is slightly disappointing that it all leads up to a simple story for kids. Don't get me wrong, I get that kids often love these simple diversions, and it does give the parents a chance to relax. But I feel that more could have been done, like make it a walk through a la the Sleeping Beauty castle walkthrough experience, with each room telling a different part with animatronics and special effects (or just very pretty dioramas).
It is slightly disappointing to me too because since Belle will be part of the story, she will be leaving the other princesses, making her meet and greets super limited at the Magic Kingdom, the only other way of meeting her being at EPCOT in her blue dress (and even then, Beast will supposedly leave her so he can do his meet and greets at the restaurant).
But even then, I can't fully judge this whole land until it is 95% finished, since the new Mermaid ride and the Snow White coaster should be great. Plus, I hope they add live entertainment to the land in the same manner they have streemosphere characters on Main Street and Hollywood Studios, like clowns and other performers at the circus, or random village folk. Heck, I am very excited for Gaston's Tavern where you can have Lefou's Butterbeer (
) and meet Gaston (this is why Gaston has been seen randomly out with Belle on EPCOT and at the Halloween parties).

After watching a few more videos of this, I realize that even though I may be out of the age range for this attraction and may only end up doing it once, I think it will have a special kind of charm that will make it a hit with the target audience. The fact that it will be a different performance each time depending on the audience also helps. I still think it should have been more than just the house and the library, and that this essentially limits Belle's meet and greets at the Magic Kingdom, but now I am not as critical of it since I do see it being a hit with a lot of people.
Also, after watching this, I am also thankful that they eliminated the Cinderella and Aurora events from the original concept plans as they would have been TOO similar to the Enchanted Stories with Belle show, and further limiting the appeal of the new Fantasyland.
So the way I see it, the New Fantasyland will have the following...
- A show aimed at families and children (Enchanted Stories with Belle)
- A signature, story based attraction (Little Mermaid)
- A thrill ride for families (Goofini)
- A classic ride updated for the new decade (Dumbo)
- A signature dining restaurant (Be Our Guest)
- A casual yet themed restaurant (Gaston's Tavern)
- A children's play area (Casey Jr.)
- Specific meet and greet areas (Ariel's Grotto, Gaston's Tavern and Pete's Silly Sideshow)
- A thrill ride with story elements (Seven Dwarfs Mine Coaster)
- A themed snacks area (the Humphrey the Bear snacks tent or whatever it will be named)
- Two signature gift shops (Souvenir Tent and Bonjour Village Gifts)
I say that's a nice, balance selection of activities to do on this new land. Not everything will be to everyone's tastes, but at the same time this is very balance and there is bound to be something for everyone.

While it does seem disappointing that the ride is basically the same one as the California version, I think it might end up doing a world of good to the Magic Kingdom. There are many like me who prefer WDW over Disneyland because going to Disneyland is far more expensive and takes a lot more effort to visit than WDW. So having an attraction that is similar provides a nice alternative, and has the added advantage of better theming and the ability to visit Ariel in her mermaid form at her grotto (something Disneyland used to have but not anymore).atlanticaunderthesea wrote:There was a new blog post about Ariel's ride, and it appears that yes, the ride will be identical to the previous one, bar the queue and the façade.
Disappointing, but makes sense. Would be cool if it had had its own unique-ness, but I guess the façade makes up for that !
