I'm impressed with Fantasia's cover, very attractive and eye catching, it's nice to see the other segements on the cover instead of Mickey/Cherabog. Pretty sure it'll say 2 disc blu-ray, Hopefuly this'll be the offical cover, it'd look great on my shelf next to Pinocchio/Bambi

Love the Fantasia cover. Not sure about the Fantasia/2000 cover.

Seriously, they couldn't even come up with new artwork for that? Did they just figure that the segments were too bland enough not create new artwork for? I seriously hope they touch it up and make some of the other artwork new so that it would go well with the Mickey artwork on it or at least match up with the Fantasia cover.

I got in contact with Disney 'Home Entertainment' regarding the release program, and this is what they replied with;

"Hello Tom,

Thank you for contacting Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

The releases will be:

Fantasia Platinum Edition Double Play Blu ray Packaging

Fantasia Platinum Edition Double Play DVD Packaging

Fantasia / Fantasia 2000 Blu-ray Double Pack

I hope this information helps you in the anticipation of the releases.

Kind regards

Kathie

Interesting... I thought they ditched Platinum?

Maybe they think Fantasia isn't good enough to be compared to a Diamond, but a bit better than being Special!

That was a nervous laugh :(

On the Fantasia cover it say "ORIGINAL CLASSIC"

Yeah, right, they originally blew up some scenes to avoid showing an inconvenient character...Original my #@!!?

Very misleading if you ask me

So we have the option of Fantasia combo in Blu case, Fantasia combo in DVD case, or Fantasia/2000 double Blu? What about Fantasia 2000 in a combo pack? No DVD for Fantasia 2000? From that list the only way we get 2000 is on Blu when we buy the double pack. I hope she left something off that list...

The most concerning thing is that it doesn't look like there's going to be an 'extra' disc for the features. This would make sense since its not a Diamond Edition, but I just can't believe how they're shatting all over this chance. Fantasia should have more extra content than snow white, and that took up almost half a Blu-Ray disc. Even Blu-Ray.com says there's only 1 B.R disc and 1 DVD. :(

Amazon.co.uk now has the trailer for Fantasia on its product page.

Interestingly, it still says "The Diamond Editions"........[/i]

I know we haven't had an official announcement yet, but this week sure seems to be delivering some crushing blows to our Fantasia/2000 hopes. It seems that with each day that passes, the prospects are looking bleaker and bleaker, when shouldn't it be the opposite? Don't get me wrong, the restoration looks fantasic and I'm sure that it's going to be terrific, but I think we all thought this release was going to be more upsale than it seems to be turning out to be .:(

That's the old trailer. I don't think we've seen the BBFC classified "Special Edition Combo Trailer"

Beautiful cover arts for equally beautiful movies! I am really looking forward to this release. The original Fantasia is one of my favorite Disney movies. When I watched this movie for the first time in 2 years, I felt like I was at a concert from the Arts of Phila. Not only that, the musicians who played for it were great! I loved their music very much! The "performing" illustrations were equally great, especially those of The Fairy Part of the Nutcracker Suite, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and the spectacular Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria. If you like Ave Maria, you should try watching Very Merry Christmas Songs. The way Disney incorporated it with the Song "Silent Night" was angelically wonderful, if you pardon the pun. The time I bought it at a Rummage Sale from my Grammar school, I actually cried during Silent Night and We Wish You A Merry Christmas. I also like Fantasia: 2000 (and I might add it was a spectacular way for Disney to start the new millenium!) but not as much as the Original Fantasia. I just hope and pray that this release is better than the 60th anniversary edition.

you mean that racist little horse taken out by Walt himself? Get over yourself... Disney is not going to, nor will they ever, acknowledge its existence.... and that is perfectly fine. It's too complex a matter for a company like Disney to deal with... there's no way they could include it.

"The original classic" is referring to it being the first (the original) film.

Miniroll32,

Was the info Disney gave you for the US release or for the UK one?
Do you happen to know if Disney's UK blu-'s are region locked or not?

I phoned the U.K hotline to get the email address, and that had ".co.uk" on the end, so the info must be for the U.K release.

And Disney DVDs/Blu-Rays are always region locked 2 here.

As for the Blu-rays not all- but all classics so far and I assume they won't break this 'rule'.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I never thought I'd consider buying the UK pack just to get a PAL dvd to tide me over (I have a region free dvd player) but if Disney significantly delays the US release like they did with Dumbo I will. I bought the Mexico Dumbo blu in February and I'm not sorry.
