Wow, I really liked this movie! It was actually quite amazing, from the heartfelt characters and the interesting plot and the *amazing* visuals, the cinematography, and everything else.
I really still don't get why people are criticizing it. I was really excited to watch it for quite a while, but was shocked and disappointed with all the negative reviews. But, I'm so glad I watched it anyhow, because it was worth every minute! :)

I have to admit though, the cost of the tickets surprised me. Each 3D ticket here in California was $15.50 and the total bill for me and three other friends was over $60! Absolutely crazy! The 3D wasn't exactly worth the $60, with the rabbit hole sequence being the only worthy scene in 3D. Ah, well.

I did really, really like the movie, though. I just might watch it again in 2D!

Looks like I can already pinpoint one deleted (or in this case, extended) scene. In the novelization, when Hatter's in prison, Stayne stops by and taunts Bayard the Bloodhound's wife Bielle and her pups. The Hatter grabs him and locks him in a choke hold before Mallymkun snaps him out of his rage. Apparently this was changes a bit and then shot since the Visual Guide has a photo of the Hatter standing in his cell holding onto the bars. The caption states he's defending Mallymkun rather than Bielle.

I wonder if this will be on the DVD and BD. Burton doesn't like showing deleted scenes, apparently, but Disney loves advertising them. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Also, it seems like the change in scenery for the Mad Tea Party was late in production. I'm in the process of playing the Wii game, and the level in which you find the Hatter features the same dusk setting as in the teaser trailer. Hmmm...

I was really disappointed too, I've seen better Burton movies, although I liked how he reinvented the characters except Alice ofcourse. It's just the plot was really boring, he should have just sticked to the book.

I don't understand all of the hate for this movie. Really. I read a negative review that honestly made me laugh, saying how they hated how Alice had no personality in the beginning, and then suddenly became an action hero. I don't think they understood that that was the whole point of the film, and she found her muhcness. Not perfect, but really good. My opinions:

Stunning visuals. The CG was virtually seamless most of the time, and nearly all of the characters were as aesthectically appealing as I could have hoped for. Especially the Cheshire Cat. He really was lovely.

To me, the story did not feel too rushed. I thought it spent a suitable amount of time on almost everything. However, I wish they had spent more time on flashbacks, and not just Alice's flashbacks. I would have liked to see some of Mirana's and Iracebeth's childhoods. And I wish they would have explained Chessur's role (or lack thereof) in the Hightopp Massacre a little better.

The only problem for me was that the characters were so enjoyable that most of them hadn't nearly as much screentime as I would have liked (especially Chessur, Thackery, Mirana, and Mally).

Special Stand-outs for me:
- The scene with Alice befriending the Bandersnatch
- The scene where Alice tells Tarrant the same thing her father told her
- The death of the Jabberwocky (that line was EPIC!)
- The scene with Alice giving everyone at the party a piece of her mind
- The last couple shots
- And of course.... FUDDERWHACKEN!!

(I also lol'ed at Mally's impressive and impeccable aim for eyeballs  )

Was it perfect? No. Not really. Was it impressive? Absolutely! I do wish I could see it again in theaters, but I can wait for DVD.

And I for one did like the acting. I found Mia likeable, Anne Hathaway suitable for the role, and HBC delightful. The one thing that bothered me was, while Johnny Depp was perfect for the role of Tarrant, and acted quite well, his accent was very distracting. What was it supposed to be? Why was it Scottish sometimes, and British other times? I didn't get it, and to be honest, it reminded me of Dick Van Dyke's difficulty with a Cockney accent in Mary Poppins. But, oh well, it was an enjoyable performance nonetheless.

On a slightly different note, I got to be disappointed with the film a day earlier. Here is the invitation showing something interesting - the new "One Disney" branding.

Here is the front of the invite (let me know if you want it massive):

and the back:

Notice something?

Here is the old (not really...) Studios logo:

All logos are now going to be the same across the whole company. They are also changing over to Myriad from Times New Roman:

I'll admit I haven't been following this thread closely, mostly to avoid spoilers (which I rarely do, lol), and partially so I don't get high expectations of this film. I think at the very least I'll enjoy the visuals. Hopefully I can see it this coming weekend.

As for the company logo . . . interesting . . .

I saw the movie and loved it! Will watch it in several more times in theaters and buy it when it arrives on Blu-ray/DVD. Loved the soundtrack as well, so will be getting it on CD.

I have been looking forward to this movie for awhile, as have many on this board. I was sort of let-down by Burton's version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - so I set my expectations low for this movie.

I have tried to keep an open mind with all the stills and sneak peaks released before the movie. I expected it to be dark.

I ended up loving it! I saw it in IMAX 3D and wish I could afford to do so again! Went on Saturday to a sold-out theater. I'm really warming up to 3D movies, this one didn't even give me my usual headache during and afterwards.

I can't wait for the Blu-ray release! I didn't mind the "action" ending at all. It feels like this is one of those movies you have to watch a few times to really "see" everything there is to see - it is SO visually overwhelming.

For those of you who don't even plan on seeing this in theaters as a result of disliking the previews - shame on you! Experience it in 3D while you can!

I'll throw my hat in the ring on this one. I liked it mostly. Acting, scenery, costuming, all great.

I thought it moved a little slow. Burton's films usually are slower paced. He's not Jerry Bruckheimer after all. But this one just felt a little off for some reason.

Still definitely worth seeing.

Was good. Met my expectations. Dont think anyone will be disappointed by the visuals. Its crazy and fun....and exactly what a movie about Alice in Wonderland should be. The story is light but the movie is great entertainment for the eyes. If you can handle that go see it. If you cant then you may want to pass.

I enjoyed the movie as a unique sequel, not a retelling of what I've known. By that I mean I forgave the fact that the characters did not seem faithful to my expectations because I viewed it as something different. It reminded me of Return to Oz and how it's difficult to enjoy that movie if you compare it to the classic one with Judy Garland but on its own it's enjoyable.

I didn't enjoy experiencing it in 3D as much as I expected. Visually it was ok, but I didn't like wearing the glasses. They were somewhat bothersome to wear (I could always feel them on my face unlike real glasses that I don't even notice), and I could always see them out of the corners of my eye which was distracting. The 3D was not worth an added expense.

You know, I'm curious as to whether or not this will surely break Avatar's worldwide box office record. Well.... I'm not saying it will happen, but it would be amazing if it did happen.

If that happens..can you say sequel....it did leave an opening for a sequel I thought....which if that happens.....time to milk the Tim Burton Underland Cow by Disney:

Here's what I don't get. Disney is busy running away from "girl films," right?

So what's up with Alice In Wonderland...Why they didn't retitle it The Hatter, we'll never know.
(He does say that the title hasn't hurt the box office, though.) And a commenter or more said that it's been marketed as a Burton/Depp film, so it hasn't been marketed as a girls' film. (The rolling eyes is because Disney has a double standard for its' animated classics and it's live-action films, apparently. Who wants to bet that if Alice in Wonderland, an animated film (whether or not the 1951 version, or imagine that that version was never made and Disney's 1st animated Alice film was coming out these days- would they keep the title Alice in Wonderland, or maybe just rename it Wonderland or something, since Alice is a girl's name?

)

From the trailers, you get the impression the movie is more about Mad Hatter than Alice, but I was glad watching the movie, it wasn't the case. So titling it, "Mad Hatter" wouldn't have made much sense.

Also, the audience I sat with, there were a lot of guys. So I'd say the title didn't hurt it.
