I don't understand all of the hate for this movie. Really. I read a negative review that honestly made me laugh, saying how they hated how Alice had no personality in the beginning, and then suddenly became an action hero. I don't think they understood that that was the whole point of the film, and she found her muhcness. Not perfect, but really good. My opinions:
Stunning visuals. The CG was virtually seamless most of the time, and nearly all of the characters were as aesthectically appealing as I could have hoped for. Especially the Cheshire Cat. He really was lovely.
To me, the story did not feel too rushed. I thought it spent a suitable amount of time on almost everything. However, I wish they had spent more time on flashbacks, and not just Alice's flashbacks. I would have liked to see some of Mirana's and Iracebeth's childhoods. And I wish they would have explained Chessur's role (or lack thereof) in the Hightopp Massacre a little better.
The only problem for me was that the characters were so enjoyable that most of them hadn't nearly as much screentime as I would have liked (especially Chessur, Thackery, Mirana, and Mally).
Special Stand-outs for me:
- The scene with Alice befriending the Bandersnatch
- The scene where Alice tells Tarrant the same thing her father told her
- The death of the Jabberwocky (that line was EPIC!)
- The scene with Alice giving everyone at the party a piece of her mind
- The last couple shots
- And of course.... FUDDERWHACKEN!!
(I also lol'ed at Mally's impressive and impeccable aim for eyeballs

)
Was it perfect? No. Not really. Was it impressive? Absolutely! I do wish I could see it again in theaters, but I can wait for DVD.
And I for one did like the acting. I found Mia likeable, Anne Hathaway suitable for the role, and HBC delightful. The one thing that bothered me was, while Johnny Depp was perfect for the role of Tarrant, and acted quite well, his accent was very distracting. What was it supposed to be? Why was it Scottish sometimes, and British other times? I didn't get it, and to be honest, it reminded me of Dick Van Dyke's difficulty with a Cockney accent in Mary Poppins. But, oh well, it was an enjoyable performance nonetheless.
