A middle school teacher played part of Finding Nemo for us, and I hated it. Same with Lilo and Stitch. (Of course, now that is one of the top Pixar movies I watched.)
I got into Pixar movies in 2006 (surprisingly with Cars), but other Disney...was not into it. Right before Christmas break, my 11th grade English teacher decided to reward us by showing her favorite movie, The Little Mermaid. I was not expecting to enjoy it as a 16 year old, but as I watched it, I was blown away by Disney's ability to tell a story, the music, everything. I went home that day, and I took out my VHS copy of the movie so I could finish it. Once I finished TLM, I wondered if other movies were the same way. I got out Hunchback, Mulan, Pocahontas, Pinocchio...all movies I hadn't seen in years, and I watched them.
I was still blown away by them, and my Disney obsession was born. I spent December '07 until June '09 watching all of the canon movies. As you can see by my collection, I still love the movies...even some of the goofier ones (aka HSM trilogy).
Great story! I always love hearing about "revisitations" to Disney, mainly because it shows the endurance that Disney has over time. It's a genre in itself, one that transcends beyond the childhood nostalgia with which many associate animated films. Really glad to see you've rediscovered your love for Disney. Even the goofy stuff.
Iceflash, you can always do what my brother does and simply invest in some
Poster Frames with Pressboard Backing. That way, you could fit a few lithos in there, maybe even include some other smaller images and make a nice montage. It will still be wall-mounted, but maybe you could save space this way, or have a rotating set of posters that you can change each month.
Or, if you can acquire
sheet protectors, you can put your lithos in there, and then put them all in a decorative binder for people to peruse through without damaging the lithos. I don't think the link I gave has 11x14 protectors, a cursory glance yielded only the 8.5x11 standards. But maybe they could be custom-ordered...
And thanks, everyone, for the compliments to my
Beauty and the Beast collection.
