Who says I'm making fun of you? I'm poking fun at the movie's ending. Not everything relating to Anastasia is about you, you know.bradhig wrote:Please don't make fun of my problem no truely understands it but me.Escapay wrote: I'm pissed at the makers of Anastasia for not making the ending suck enough. Yes I Agree Thumbelina needs a Two-Disc I Have the Fox Re-Issue right now and it to me feels like one of the Disney Limited Issue titles with little extrasUmbrellaFish wrote:I'm waiting for Thumbelina on a decent release. I suppose you get the picture.
Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.

bradhig that picture isn't funny. and why are all of you dissing the ending? what did you want? Anastasia die? did you want her to fall into the river and drown like Rasputin did in the opening? if you all did then get real because the main hero/heroine in and animated film almost never dies.
and i bet if Anastasia was released by Disney you all would be praising it with stars and medals and all that other stuff.

The only one that regularly disses the ending is bradhig because it's not the way he wants it to be. The rest of us just joke about the ending because we know it riles him up.Disneyfreak1990 wrote:and why are all of you dissing the ending?

I also think All Dogs Go to Heaven needs a 2-disc Family Fun Edition.... Although on the 2nd disc there should be All Dogs go to Heaven 2 as a bonus movie and enough room for some decent special features.... The reason I bring up All Dogs Go To Heaven 2 on the second disc as with Anastasia 2-disc Family Fun Edition the included that movie with a movie all about Bartok the Magnificant....danfrandes wrote:Do you think "All Dogs Go to Heaven" needs to be a "Family Fun Edition"?
Also I am surprised that Ferngully 2-disc Family Fun Edition didnt include Ferngully 2... Even though that movie was.... not that good and not needed... Kinda like Cinderella II....
I found Ferngully 2 at a Gamestop for $5.99 so I bought it just because they had a sale going on....
Hey at Least we didnt see Pebble and the Penguin 2: Rocko Flies South

I agree that "Thumbelina" needs a decent release. That is one of my favorite non-Disney animated films and it needs a better release. Come on, we're waiting!

Heck, let's make it a 3-disc Family Fun Edition and include An All Dogs Christmas Carol!disneyboy20022 wrote:I also think All Dogs Go to Heaven needs a 2-disc Family Fun Edition.... I agree, though, I'd love to see an SE (or in this case, FFE) for All Dogs Go To Heaven. Our VHS hasn't fallen apart yet, but the constant replays it's gotten over the years has rendered the picture very worn and blurry, and the audio is often muffled if played on newer VCRs.

Bluth's animated movies are terribly inconsistent in terms of story. The animation is stunning in all of them, but most of the movies have shaky plots. I do admit to enjoying Anastasia, The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail: Fievel Goes West and Rock-A-Doodle (I have fond memories of the latter when I was a kid). The nadir of the Bluth animated canon was A Troll in Central Park and The Pebble and the Penguin. Truly dreadful movies. The others were all right -- Thumbelina boasted some really stunning animation and it had Jodi Benson to boot, but the story was awfully trite.
But the Bluth titles get really shaky DVD treatment. I really dislike how Universal is treating the first The Land Before Time and the first two American Tails like bastard stepchildren and not releasing them in their proper aspect ratios. Fox is doing a much better job at releasing their Bluth titles in their proper aspect ratios and at least giving them some extras... hopefully now with their home video distribution deal with MGM, we'll hopefully get a Family Fun Edition of Rock-A-Doodle in the future.

God, no. I hate DVD-related store exclusives now, as it dictates where the consumer must shop if they want this-or-that extra feature. I don't mind if it's something like a pin or a stuffed animal, as some people will want them and some won't. But when it's DVD material that should have gone into a regular release, then it's a waste of my time trying to decide which store to give my money to just for a trailer or a featurette.disneyboy20022 wrote:Perhaps it could be a 2-disc Family Fun Edition with An All Dogs christmas Carol bonus disc as a insert name of store here ExclusiveEscapay wrote: Heck, let's make it a 3-disc Family Fun Edition and include An All Dogs Christmas Carol!

Considering Fox is on a roll now with their deal with MGM... we've got Family Fun Editions of Anastasia, Ferngully, The Pebble and the Penguin and the upcoming The Secret of NIMH in June, I wouldn't be surprised to see a better edition of All Dogs Go to Heaven surface eventually, as well as Rock A Doodle. (Both NIMH, ADGTH, and RAD were first released in full-screen with hardly any extras by MGM and/or Sony.)brownie wrote:
Anyway, a 2-disc All Dogs Go to Heaven would be nice.
But I'm not a bit surprised to see A Troll in Central Park and Once Upon a Forest not get undeser... er, better editions. They're available in their original OAR with subtitles and a couple of extras. No need to burden the consumers with better editions of undeserving movies.
Buying Bluth
I want to buy the Bluth animations, but am not sure which DVDs to get - at my local Wal-mart they have multiple versions of the films.
I know there was a "Family Fun Edition" line, which were the restored transfer of the films, and I believe these movies were released under that line:
- The Secret of NIMH
- The Pebble and the Penguin
- Anastasia
... is the "Family Fun Edition" the best edition to get for these films? Is there a possibility of a new DVD or Blu-ray release in the next few years?
As for the other Bluth films:
- An American Tail
- The Land Before Time
- All Dogs Go to Heaven
- Rock-a-Doodle
- A Troll in Central Park
- Thumbelina
... again, same questions: what DVD version of these is the best (if there is even more than one). How likely is it they will be re-released in the next few years. Are any of these on DVD NOT in the original aspect ratio?
Help me decide which edition of DVD to buy for these films, thanks!
The only one I own is Titan A.E.

I haven't bought most of these, so I'd be interested in the answers to your questions too. I do enjoy Bluth's work, but I just never got around to upgrading the ones I have on VHS to DVD, and some I just never bought at all. I don't really know why. Partly though was probably the confusion of all the different releases, like you're experiencing, and never remembering to check when at home (only thinking about it in stores; I have that problem a lot). Also, I know if I get them now, the Blu-Rays will start coming out right after. *sigh* That has happened a lot already. I'm dying to get Anastasia and a couple others though. I don't think I've even bought Ferngully either (I know it's not Bluth, I just put it in that realm of non-Disney animated features that I like for the most part). Anyway, what I know about the Family Fun Editions, or what I think I know about them, is that they come with the sequels. I think. Which is one thing that makes me think I will go for those if the movies I want don't come to Blu anytime soon. They might not all have the sequels though... But I think some do anyway. And maybe I'm wrong about that. Anyway, for now I'm going with the Family Fun Editions if I buy any, unless some better advice comes on here. I also still need to get ones like the Swan Princess movies, even though I think they're all 5 dollars at Target (and I've never really watched those, ya know?). Anyway, as for Troll in Central Park and Rock-a-Doodle, didn't they only ever have ONE DVD release? Troll was 5 bucks at Target for a while. But, of course, the day I reminded myself to go buy and pick it up, they had just removed them from the shelves. Another that's out now is We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story, and I've seen Pagemaster in the 5 dollar bin. Never seen that one either, and I totally don't remember if it's by Bluth. Thumbelina I DID pick up already. I don't think there have really been multiple releases of it, though I could be wrong. I think it's just had different covers. I remember not liking it very much, but it has Jodi Benson's voice, so I had to get it (haven't watched it yet though, so haven't seen it in YEARS).
