I thought that Madagascar was a lot less "cheesy" with its gags. He was surprised, saying that he thought I liked Shrek 2. Well, I did, but sometimes I like cheesy things.


I thought Puss kicked @$$, but only because of his Zorro-esque personality. I think one of the weakest story points of the film was when he changed sides so quickly; something else needed to happen there to convince me he had motivation to do so.
But overall, I did like Shrek 2 enough to see it more than once in the theater. I like the new premise of doing a parody of Hollywood as opposed to fairy tale cliches.
And I thought the music worked better overall this time around than it did in the first film. Jennifer Saunders did an excellent job with "Holding out for a Hero" and it's one of my favorite sequences in the film.
And at least it has a nice moral to it, even if certain kids just don't get it.
