Good Christ, they seriously couldn't edited Hewey, Dewey, and Louie's voices?! They sound god-AWFUL! Ugh, I was looking so forward to this! Even David, who sounds spot-on as Scrooge, isn't enough to save this. Ugh, I'm so upset! :( :( :(

Okay, there's no need to overreact over one trailer. Maybe some constructive criticism instead?

I agree, the voice acting sucks. While yes, a lot of the original voice actors have passed on, there are a few still with us and still others who filled in for the Remastered game that did fantastic work. After watching this trailer, it's clear to me not using them was a wasted opportunity. Tennent's Scrooge is probobly the best, but even it was just so-so. The triplets and Webby really annoyed me and don't get me started on Launchpad. While I enjoyed the basic idea of adventure, I felt how it was presented was off as well. The new theme song singer(s) are equally as bad.

However I still have to admit that I LOVE that Donald is a bigger part of the stories. To me that was always the biggest flaw with the original show.

Listen, there are going to be "fans" that attack people up like you and me for not kissing Disney's butt 100% of the time, but if something isn't good, it's just not good, and there is nothing wrong about calling that out. I'm well aware that there will be many who will claim we haven't seen enough, but these same people will keep saying that till the series is over. If I sample something at CostCo and it tastes nasty, I don't need to buy the whole box to confirm what I already know from the sample. That's the point of samples and ergo TV and movie trailers.

I bet despite the suck fest I watched, it's going to be super popular and that's wonderful for everyone who jumps on board. For me, it continues what I've known for a while, and that is that A.) the reboot is normally never better than the original, B.) reboots are made for lazy reasons, and C.) modern pop culture sucks and has sucked for a while now. The best is mostly behind us, and that sad thing is, few seem to care.

The only voice acting that really bugs me so far are the nephews. I'm not against trying to give them unique personalities (as long as we don't take anything from Quack Pack, at least), but these sound like the 30-something year old men that they are, not little boys. Tennant's Scrooge sounds fantastic, though, and the little that we heard for Webby and Launchpad isn't that bad either, IMO.

The animation is also a little more fluid than I was expecting. I wouldn't call this my favorite potential art style, but it could be worse. Although none of the jokes here particularly landed for me, I think this looks fine so far, even if it pretty different from the original.

I don't want an exact duplicate of the original series, though- if anything, I'd like something a little closer to Carl Barks and Don Rosa's duck stories, but with the characters from the show we fell in love with. If this is anything like that, I'm sold.

It's pretty good to me. Plus, hand-drawn animation! I thought the best we would get was Flash, but this is a pleasant surprise. :)

It's different, but I didn't hate it. Gotta remember too that we are not the target audience guys. As long as kids watch it they are happy.

I kinda liked it  It's not the classic but we knew that already. I expected worse for the animation and it seems like they're at least keeping the adventure aspect of it. I'll definitely give it a try.

At first when I saw the official youtube teaser screenshot showing Scrooge I thought "wow, they made this in Carl Barks' style. However as soon as I hit play I was disappointed to discover that was just a portrait of him.
The actual visual style is not so appealing. It reminds me of the new Mickey Mouse shorts' style, which I never liked. Plus why are their fingertips square instead of rounded.
So sad Disney animation has settled for this

I agree with that, and I might get used to the voice acting in this one. David Tennent sounds good as Scrooge. :)

I don't like the nephews' voices either, but what I like even less is that they've changed their personalities a bit too much. And in general everything is a bit too modernised for my liking. But I expected it would be something like this, so I'm not really disappointed. I'm still looking forward to it. I hope the stories are good and the characters are more likeable than they appear to be from the trailer. What I did like is Scrooge's voice and the new version of the song doesn't sound bad either.

By the way, although the first season hasn't premiered yet, the series has already been renewed for a second season:

I'm not a DuckTales fanatic. I didn't really like the show growing up. I preferred the Quack Pack-- although checking it out on YouTube just now, it's weird hearing Tommy Pickles come out of Donald's nephews.

I actually rather liked what I saw in the new clip, though. I've never been particularly attached to their voices, so I have no issues with the new stuff and Tennant is pretty bang on, particularly.

It looks like a quality update of the show. I could see myself checking it out, and I can definitely see it endearing itself to a new generation.

I actually think this has the potential to be badass and can't wait. I'm excited to see a modern take on one of my favorite characters of all time, and I love the overall design and especially the colors of the new series. It's hand drawn. HAND DRAWN, PEOPLE!!! Something about it also feels old-school and retro, and it appears the production team is more than well aware of the characters' roots within the comics. Seriously, I haven't been this excited about any TV series (animated or not) since I don't know when. Maybe Darkwing? I must have a thing for ducks.

At the same time, I can see how this could be jarring to the fans of the original show. DuckTales holds a very important place in TV animation history, setting the bar far higher than it had ever been for what was being produced as children's television. But as innovative as it was, it's still very much a product of its time; I honestly couldn't see modern children getting into it the same way we did as kids due to the pacing and such. Plus the creators were forced to hold back, like pulling Donald out many of the stories because the execs were afraid of tainting one of "the big three." I'm hoping that this is a chance to experience the gist of the old comics with the additional characters of the old series, maybe even mix it all in with lots of new action, heart, and humor. I'm also hoping this gives Scrooge a chance to shine as more of a tough curmudgeon; I always felt the 80s series softened him just a little too much. Not that Scrooge can't be a softy, but the comics always held an interesting dynamic between the types of happiness Scrooge and Donald respectively sought. Although Launchpad remains a favorite character of mine, using him to outright replace Donald made that dynamic drop, and I sometimes felt that made Scrooge lose his edge.

Ugh ... it's four in the morning and I don't know if I'm even making sense anymore. So to close on a high note ...

Was that you who interviewed Jeff? I almost did and may yet still. He was kind enough to do a Disney Afternoon panel for me once. Very nice guy and a big family man. Always a pleasure. 8)

Some info about the panel the series will have at the D23 Expo:
On Saturday, July 15, Disney XD’s DuckTales stars Ben Schwartz (the voice of Dewey), Kate Micucci (Webby Vanderquack), Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack), and Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley) will join executive producer Matt Youngberg and co-producer/story editor Francisco Angones for a Q&A panel taking place from 4:15– 5:15 p.m. on Stage 28.

haha, I came here to see the reaction to that. Its like I said in a post late last year I think Iger bought Miranda's soul in exchange for success. Now he's forced to do nothing but Disney crap.

I liked this show as a preteen/young teen but it wasnt something I was nuts about, so Im indifferent to the changes. It looks ok, but also has that very familiar Cal Arts /CN/Nick style thats the rage now. The voice of the nephews/Webby are shrill and annoying but they sound like most of the kids/characters voices you see in modern animated series these days, shrill, annoying 30 something, smart-alecky hipster voices, sigh. Its hand drawn though so hey that's nice.
