Anyway, regarding canon, I don't follow the canon rule as Disneyphillip stated (I mean to a point because there's no way the Timon and Pumbaa TV series takes place in The Lion King canon as if it was meant too anyway). That's just my opinion, I just like people to know that.

With that, I never made my input about the new series, and quite frankly, I'm excited. Everything sounds promising from the story to the designs, like a lot of care was put into it, pleasing both the old and the new fans. My only hope is that they can get the original cast members to reprise their roles (because I can also see this as one of the shows that have a lot of star power).

Another idea that would be great is if Shia LeBeouf voiced Kion.

If Disney thinks their direct-to-video sequels are so "Non-Canon", then why do they now bundle together the sequels for Pocahontas and Mulan with the originals on DVD/Blu-Ray, like they do Rescuers and Rescuers Down Under? Not that it's a business practice I always agree with, cause I know not everyone is going to like all the sequels and are only going to want the original film, so they shouldn't have to be forced to own both of them. It was better when Disney used to release all their DTV sequels separately from the original films, so they were optional.

Also, to be fair: I myself didn't think Mulan II was as good as the original either.

1st movie: Defend China from an evil Hun army.

2nd movie: Escort the Emperor's daughters as bodyguards.

That was charming. The hyenas look pretty good. And also:

Now I'm actually looking forward to this show! Ironically enough! I have the feeling that the tone will be less outrageous and frenetic than the "Timon and Pumbaa"-show. And while I'm not slamming on it, I've would've preferred a spin-off show that were more naturalistic and subdued, in the vein of the other spin-off shows a la "Mermaid", "Aladdin" and "Tarzan".

If the show's supposed to be educational, just hope they get around to some positive hyena characters, b/c hyenas as animals get a horrible rap in this series and they are actually amazing animals.

Well, I have to admit that looked pretty good. The characters are drawn well, the animation is fluid, and even the coloring looks decent.

Bravo, Disney. You can still do things right when you want to.

Now this just begs the question on why the new DuckTales series has to be CGI and why the new Mickey Mouse cartoons have to look like they were drawn by a hack.

Nevertheless, this is one modern day Disney cartoon that's going to be earning a spot on my viewing list for me, alongside Princess and the Frog, Winnie the Pooh, and Phineas and Ferb.

interesting animation. i might be seeing it wrong, but kion looked like traditional 2d while the hyenas looked a bit closer to flash style. but, im happy as pumbaa in a bugfest with it! im glad to see TLK avoid cgi. looking forward to seeing this!

as to the hyenas, i though one could be banzai, but then with the tongue maybe shenzi and ed had a litter?? one mentioned outlands... no hyenas were in TLK2, so maybe this was before zira took over out there?

I heard someone say that the Lion Guard could follow in its predecessor's footsteps by being influenced by a Shakespearean work. The Shakespearean work they say the Lion Guard could be inspired by is Henry IV, where a young brash prince fights to defend his father's Kingdom and must learn how to become a King in the meantime.

It looks way better than the animation of MLP: FiM. For one thing, I saw no painfully bright and oversaturated colors in those clips I watched, and no ugly thick outlining on the characters either.
