I get in the habit of watching the same films over and over. My concentration span isn't that good so it's easier to watch films I know really well. I decided to watch the ones I don't know that well at all. I watched Lady and the Tramp for the first time since I got the Platinum DVD.
I also watched Bambi which again, not seen since I got the Platinum.
They are both really good films. I guess they don't hold the same level of nostalgia that the renaissance films and Snow White and Sleeping Beauty have over me.

I ended up getting psyched up for Bambi's Mother's death two times before it happened. It is a bit of a slower moving film but it was lovely just to sit and watch and enjoy some really glorious animation. Some shots are serious animation porn.
Lady and the Tramp is again another beautiful film (most Disney films are, with the exception of the New York Scenes in Oliver and Company where they intentionally went for gritty). I also love Barbara Luddy in it.

I'm going to continue with TLK (which has never grown on me) and probably The Jungle Book and Alice in Wonderland.
Settling Soul mates? That is grim. And I've played Monopoly alone.

I was stuck at home working on advertising materials all day...I helped pass the time with a 1970's marathon of Disney animation playing while I worked. The Aristocats, Robin Hood, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and The Rescuers.

Frozen. Somebody actually put the whole movie on Youtube lol  no jokes. Though it was speed up by 10 per cent, and was mirrored.

The super fast Love Is a Open Door was hilarious

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. I'm currently going through all the princess films as this is something I wanted to do for a while. And I have to say, having just finished watching it, it holds up a lot better then I remember and Snow White is a more interesting character, then I at first gave her credit for. My favorite songs are probably Heigh-Ho and Someday, My Prince Will Come. Next up, Cinderella, and then Sleeping Beauty.
Favorite Animated Disney films: 1. Dumbo, 2. Tangled, 3. Frozen, 4. Beauty and The Best, 5. The Little Mermaid, 6. Cinderella

Favorite Princesses, 1. Rapunzel, 2. Ariel, 3. Sofia, 4.Elsa, 5. Belle, 6. Cinderella/Anna

I“m watching all the Disney movies on BR.

-Snow White: This is a movie that has grown a lot on me. From hating it back in the day (even skipped the DVD) to really liking it. The animation is amazing and, if it was for Snow White“s voice and songs, would stand better the test of time.

-Pinocchio: Need to watch it again paying true attention to it. This last time I didn“t.

-Dumbo: Same thing as Pinocchio.

-Bambi: Not one of my favorites. I get the quality of the animation and how shocking the Bambi“s mother scene was but it is extremely slow and boring.

-Cinderella: At this point the movies started to feel more "modern". This is the first one that has the best songs so far. Much more enjoyable than Snow White. The thing is that, although the mice scenes are ok and fun, in the end it“s just an excuse to stretch the movie.

-Alice in Wonderland: Doesn“t feel old at all. Extremely fun.

-Peter Pan: Another one that“s just fun. However, this one depends for me when I watch it. Sometimes I like it more or less. Still, Alice is better in my opinion. In Peter Pan they lost chances to do really do things with characters like the mermaids, indians and pirates.

-Sleeping Beauty: So sad the movie it“s not as great as it could have been. At least the animation is gorgeous (especially the backgrounds), Maleficent incredible, the fairies fun and funny and both Aurora and Phillip have interesting personalities. Aside from nothing much happening the scenes between the kings didn“t add anything important.

Well, I just crossed the finish line, as I just finished watching "Frozen", thus completing my Disney movie marathon. This non-stop marathon took me 19 days to complete. But I am sure some have finished it in fewer days than me.

It was so much fun to do, and I can't believe that I actually completed it. I thought I was going to quit after #10.

I may do it again this year, but more spread out, as a countdown to "Big Hero 6", and even start my own thread on that. Just have to wait and see about that.

Aristocats, right now watching.

I don't think it's a good movie per se, but it's relaxing and puts you in a good mood. I love Duchess and I like her romance with O'Malley, they have nice chemistry.

101 Dalamatians

Can“t believe how "modern" it always feels. Not to mention how difficult it had to be to animate all those dalmatians. And of course Cruella.

Still, even with all that it“s not one of my favorites.

The Sword in the Stone

Very charming movie. Always puts a smile on my face. One of my favorites. As fun as Alice and Peter Pan.

I get it“s not a great movie but I“m amazed Disney never took advantage of characters like Merlin and Madam Mim. Didn“t they took out Sorcerer Mickey and Chernabog from Fantasia? Here we have 2 great characters lost.

The Jungle Book

Can understand what people see on it (after watching the making of and interviews for the BR/DVD) but still it never gets me. I especially don“t like the music (aside from Bare Necessities); don“t hate them just don“t care. As such I can“t believe it“s so cherished for so many.

Another one that“s not one of my favorites.

I re-watched this one yesterday and I agree. The animation is beautiful, but the story-line, characters and songs don't really do it for me.

Just finished Hunchback of Notre Dame after getting the Blu-Ray combo pack in the mail today. Quite the underrated gem, in my opinion; Esmeralda is a fantastic character, and above all, I'm a sucker for an Alan Menken/Disney Renaissance film.

The Aristocats

One my least favorites. Don“t find anything appealing to me; even though I really like cats and this is the only Animated Classic dedicated to them.

At least this time it was more enjoyable to me.

Robin Hood

Just a fun movie. Not as much as Sword in the Stone but the way they portray the characters in animals it“s really clever. Has great moments and characters.

The Rescuers

The better of the Dark Ages movies to me. Love the mystery, the dark atmosphere, the suspense, the small animals point of view...

Really great movie that deserves much more attention that it gets; don“t understand why it“s so overlooked. And the same goes for the BR/DVD; at least video is pristine and such and improvement over the last release.

Just watched the Peter Pan Diamond BR. Who doesn't love Peter Pan?

Either going to watch Sleeping Beauty Platinum BR or Hercules. Any word on that getting a BR release? Such a great film that Disney constantly overlooks.

Last night, as a family, we all went to see "Frozen - The Sing-a-long Version" and had a blast. Watching my six-year-old grand daughter sing with movie was priceless. The audience that was in this showing was really into the movie, and burst into song along with the film whenever the songs began.

"Let it Go" is still among the favorites and I hope that it wins the Academy Award for Best Song.

We all had a great time and can't wait for March 18 when we can add "Frozen" to our Disney Blu-ray collection.

Princess and the Frog and Tangled

Still don't like the music, and Louis the Gator almost ruined everything for me. He wasn't funny, and was more embarrassing and cringe-worthy. Apart from that, it's a nice movie and a little underated. Tangled however I enjoyed a little more, and felt a bit warmer towards Eugene/ Flynn, still loathe his guts at the start, but when he starts acting like Disney hero and not like he's from Shrek, he's actually a really, really good character, same with Rapunzel.

Tangled.

It held up pretty good this time around. Sure, I don't feel anything for the songs and the cynical humor, and Pascal gets me on my nerves with its squeaks and "obvious stare of doom", but overall it was kinda good. I loved all the character interactions this time around. I actually teared up at the end (minus that cheesy narrated ending, that should've been cut. Rapunzel with her parents would've been a good enough ending, I think).

Aurora and Phillip have interesting personalities.
LMAO

Dinosaur - first time since the theater and it's even worse than I remember. What a lifeless bore! All the characters are dull and basically look the same and the story is beyond unimaginative. I'll never watch that piece of shit again unless I'm being held hostage and tortured.

Lilo & Stitch - also only my second time and I liked it more than I remembered! The relationship between Lilo/Nani is very beautiful and real and I actually find Stitch charming and cute. The alien chase stuff kind of took me out of it though. If there was less of that and more of the human dynamics it could have been great, but instead it's just good.

The Lion King - A mixed bag. I always said it's overrated but the first half really impressed me. Very epic to use an overused term. The second half goes off the rails and diminishes the whole movie though. Timon and Pumbaa are annoying, adult Simba is whiny and I hate his voice, Scar loses his edge, Mufasa aka the most interesting character is dead, etc. So while I was reminded of some reasons why I love it, I still think it's flawed and FAR from being the best Disney film.

Hercules - Very underappreciated. The music is great, the villain is dynamic, there are some genuinely funny moments, and Megara is a a pretty unique heroine for Disney. She reminds me a bit of Jessica Rabbit. Hercules isn't the strongest protagonist ever but he's average at worst, not terrible. A very fun and enjoyable film to watch.

I'm on a Disney Kick at the moment so got through a few

Peter Pan - I'm so-so about this film. I find Peter quite unlike-able, but I think Bobby Driscoll did a great job. Hans Conreid certainly steals the show as Captain Hook and George Darling.

Ratatouille - great film. Not much else to say.

The Emperor's New Groove - just tracked down the Collector's Edition so thought I'd watch this again. To Be honest, I don't mind this, but it's an average film. The villains stop this being really dull.

The Lion King - not one of my favourites. It's basically Bambi with lions and an evil uncle that stole Captain Hook's hair. It's no where near a bad film, but it isn't Disney's best. I enjoyed watching this more this time around that I have previously. Maybe it's a slow grower. I do like Be Prepared. I find it funny that on a Disney Forum, this film isn't as acclaimed. I always thought I was the only person who wasn't in love with TLK.

Pinocchio - I love this film. The underwater scenes are amazing considering they are nearly 75 years old. I don't watch this very often as I've always found the Pleasure Island scenes very, very, disturbing. It wasn't as bad as I remember, thankfully. I have the platinum DVD - is this worth tracking down the platinum BD? I'm tempted.
Settling Soul mates? That is grim. And I've played Monopoly alone.

I've seen quite a few the past weeks:

Frozen I saw in the theater. A nice film, better than most of the Disney-output after 'Lilo and Stitch', but not as good as 'Tangled'. I thought the story lacked a strong villain, and too much of the story was about going back and forth between the kingdom and Elsa's hideout where nothing much happened. 'Tangled' had a much tighter story. The songs were hit-or-miss, 'Let It Go' was a good pop-song but not really Disney, the lovesong was very good, but the first song was not catchy at all. The animation was gorgeous though and the use of 3D very good!

Pinocchio on dvd: still a beautiful film, superbly animated, with strong characters and splendid effects. But boy, is it slow! The first 20 minutes nothing is really happening. It's great to see such perfect animation but it's also hard to keep your concentration. Its pacing is very much a thing of bygone times and makes me lose interest sometimes. Something which wasn't the case with its predecessor 'Snow White', by the way.

Aladdin, still one of my all-time Disney favorites! Absolutely everything is perfect about this classic. I love the combination of broad cartoonish humor and the sincere personal moments between the protagonists; the catchy songs with the creative lyrics of Howard Ashman; the incredible voicecast, especially Robin Willams; every single character; and the fact that there's never a dull moment in the entire film.

The Return of Jafar: I usually don't care for the Disney cheapquels, but the Aladdin ones are the few exceptions because they actually work (and I admit, nostalgia plays a part as well). The animation was better than I remembered it. Of course it can't hold a candle to the original film, but one shouldn't expect that. For tv standards, it's pretty good (and a lot better than, say, the Hunchback and Tarzan sequels), except for one or two scenes. The songs are really good, though I still don't know if it was such a good idea to let Gilbert Gottfried sing. All in all not a bad film.

Just watched Tangled last night and Dumbo earlier today. Tangled is one of my favorites, but I can't quite pinpoint why. I know a lot of people have it out for Flynn Ryder, but he's really likable for me (especially when he's with Maximums). The songs are forgettable, but the story and characters were developed really well, in my opinion.

I revisited Dumbo because I haven't seen it in quite some time, so I was curious to see how I'd react to it as a 23-year-old. I always had kind of a bad taste in my mouth when I'd go and pick out a movie off the shelf to watch and came to Dumbo, so I would end up watching something else. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised; I remembered a lot of the songs and scenes, and although some parts were a little slow or excessive for me (such as the scene when they're hallucinating), it was a great movie overall. The fact it was only 64 minutes surprised me, but it made sense for it to be that short. I must have loved it a lot as a kid just based on how everything came back to me, which was my biggest surprise.
