What's the status for My Neighbors The Yamadas? Is that ever going to be released on Blu-ray in the US by Disney? They had a perfect chance to release it last summer along with Spirited Away and The Cat Returns, and if I remember correctly, they've never released a Ghibli title on it's own. Makes me worried...

Ultimate series of animated masterpieces highlights six of Studio Ghibli’s most treasured films on the big screen along with U.S. theatrical premiere of ‘Mune: Guardian of the Moon’ beginning this summer.
...The 2017 partnership kicks off with the iconic My Neighbor Totoro, from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, on Sunday, June 25 and Monday, June 26. Totoro is the first title in Studio Ghibli Fest, a six film monthly series which continues with Kiki’s Delivery Service, Castle In The Sky, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Howl’s Moving Castle and a special cinema-run of the Academy Award-winning Spirited Away timed for Halloween.

GKIDS is also partnering with Fathom Events to release Mune: Guardian of the Moon, from the producers of The Little Prince, for the first time in U.S. cinemas. Two additional new release titles are anticipated as part of the 2017 GKIDS/Fathom lineup...

a theme park based on Ghibli's films would be amazing! imagine a "dark" ride based on Princess Mononoke where you go into the forest and see all those magical creatures!

R.I.P. Mr. Takahata. You will be missed.

Oh, and by the way, Ghibli has recently reopened its studio. Miyazaki is making one last film there.

I've always preferred the films by Miyazaki, but Takahata's were very good too. I like the animation styles he experimented with and his movies had also quite mature themes. Grave of the Fireflies must be the saddest film I've ever seen, animated or not.

Is Mary and the Witch's Flower considered a Ghibli film? (I'm pretty sure The Red Turtle is, could be wrong.) I saw M&tWF the other day. I wouldn't say it was among their best, but it was alright. It had little touches everywhere that lets you know it's Ghibli: the witches' servants/robot-things looked stolen from Howl's Moving Castle; the ending with the attempted transformation reminded me of the climax of Mononoke; the two "villains" were pretty much left unpunished at the end; the preponderance of powerful female characters. Overall I was most reminded of their Tales from Earthsea adaptation, though I can't place just why. Of course it was a visually stunning film, like most Ghibli films.

^ M&tWF is actually Studio Ponoc's 1st movie, but that studio was formed by a former Ghibli producer.

Good to know (I was too lazy to look it up).

It's also from the same director as Arrietty and When Marnie Was There. That's also part of why it feels (and looks) like a Ghibli film. I watched it recently too and I have the same opinion of it as you. It isn't bad, but not as good as the best Ghibli films. As for The Red Turtle, it's a co-production between France and Studio Ghibli, and the director is Dutch, but I'm not sure if it's considered a Ghibli film or not.
