No it wasn't.. It had a Platinum DVD release in 2004.
It was originally to be excluded from the Diamond line, but has since been included.

Well it was excluded before it was known as the diamond line... Anywaay...

It was TO BE excluded from future prestige lines (branded Platinum, Diamond, etc.) after it's first PE release because of really poor sales compared to other titles in the line... Glad to see they changed their mind though...

Can someone please provide proof where Disney said they were dissapointed by the sales of the release? I'll even take something saying it would be dropped as a prestigious title release. As far as I know, that's all internet rumor crap.

Perhaps, Scamander meant that Aladdin was excluded from the Diamond line, not the Platinum line.

Well if that's the case, then OK. But I'd fess up to my mistake and not roll my eyes and give a "duh" attitude to the people correcting me if I were in their shoes.

No, I meant what I said. I never said there wasn't a Platinum release of Aladdin, I said it was excluded from the Platinum Line. Of Course it was after its release in this line, but it was years before their was a Diamond line and there was never a rule at this point, that the film could only be released once as Platinum Edition.

@CampbellzSoup:

First there was an internet rumour, later confirmed Disney Germany the exclusion of Aladdin and they dropped even the earlier release from the "Platinum Edition Homepage" (which is of course not linked anymore with the main page, but still online:
http://www.disney.de/DisneyVideos/platinum/)
They also confirmed that 'Alice in Wonderland' would take its place (which was also planned at one point, because all the DVDs were going OOP and Disney Brazil confirmed it, too).
And then, a few month later, they released in Europe the bareboned Musical Masterpiece Edition of Aladdin. Proof enough?

Now it makes sense. You should have said so from the start to avoid misunderstandings.

Seriously...I have to get this off my chestI cringe everytime I see this dvd-cover.. I mean none are on- model! Aladdin looks like a drag queen, or is the one on the right Jasmine :D Jafar is just in awe of such ugly adversaries.. The tigergod has poked his own eyes out.. Genie is holding his hands up in the air as if to say " Can't say we didn't try!" and Iago looks like he's in desperate need of medication!
When it comes to brains, I got the lion-share,
but when it comes to bruth strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool

I just remembered.. I've seen Return of Jafar modelsheets that looked better than this piece of crap! Oh! Let's not forget Abu..You know the brown thingy on the left.. Or Carpet! He's had to change his pattern, just to blend in

The worst thing I see is Genie.

Mmm, where is the rest of his body? How can he fit behind the title?

Awful design.

Genie above the title isn't nearly as strange as any other large floating head cover art. I think the biggest issue with this color is how badly Aladdin and Jasmine are off model.

I can't believe after Aladdin that the Diamond line is almost finished...all we have after is Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, and 101 Dalmations.

I can't wait to see this in HD with 7.1 sound :D
