I've Just Bought My Very First Disney DVD!!
I guess that would depend on how you saw it, like on TV or in the theaters... which must be impossible because you'd have to be in your 70's at least...Giygas wrote:^
Is it weird that that's the first Disney movie which I remember seeing?
That would be weird. (I think it's never been re-released in theaters since the 40's)

This one:BK wrote:Hmm why was the ebay/fake dvd thread locked?

My guess is that it was 39 pages long and one of the movie-watching or new-DVD threads was closed after only 15 pages. Short answer: eh, who knows?
The thing you run into a lot when you search are sellers that have 0 feedback, separate copies from the same people instead of one page saying there are more than 10 or 20 copies available, people who haven't sold any DVD's yet, and LOT of sellers from Korea and China. So if you're a good seller, you'll make sure to put a lot of information underneath the typical form with the DVD info they get from some other source listing the bonus materials, languages, etc. You/they'd also make sure to mention "U.S. seller" and "smoke-free home." Things like that.BK wrote:Heh, well anyway I just asked because scrolling a bit through that it seems a lot of people were wary of ebay.
So far my experiences have been good (I started this month)
Of course I live in the UK so maybe America may be more rampant in fakes, though I doubt so.
It's not hard to find a good copy. Just sometimes hard to find a good price.

Goliath, simply, I do not have what you said I have regarding view of the world. You tell me if everyone, every single person, can see and agree on one view of the world. No one can say what one "true" way the world is. And if you want to love Disney yet deny that Walt Disney who, well, invented Disney, believed the views he put into his films, then you can deny all the interviews and quotes and facts and evidence showing he did and you can still say you love Disney, sure.
And I never said the things those princesses did was the same as going out into the world or rolling up your sleeves. It is simply trying to make smething happen. It is doing something about your situation. It is doing something.
You can spin things however you want, saying Ariel only did whatever because of whatever, but I can play that game too when she gasped at Ursula saying she could make her human and notice in a way Ariel could be using the Prince just to get that human world. But it still stands that humanity and its world was still part of why she wanted to do it, gawking at the image of her as a human, loving to wiggle her toes, et cetera.
But you really keep spinning things, saying that they needed a man to give their life meaning when they had other meanings they wanted in life, they just might have used a prince to get them. Living back then, there were only certain things they could do and ways to get what they wanted. Doesn't change the fact Tiana and an alligator finally helped her get what she wanted.
I simply was right in all the the things I said the princesses did. They all at least tried to make their dreams come true as Tiana did but even for Tiana it came down to a prince and an alligator to make it happen.
I actually remember you complaining that Tiana wouldn't have opened her own restaraunt, and I guess you've kind of gone back on that...

I'll tell you one of the reasons I'd never do that. It's because I'm borderline obsessive about how I take care of my DVD's. I have discs I've watched over 2 dozen times that look almost BRAND NEW. I'm not kidding. Only the discs I've had for 7, 8, 9 years actually look like rental discs. And not all of them either. Just maybe half. And I usually watch the hell out of any disc I get. I wouldn't take such great care of my DVD's just to give them away later on.Aqua wrote:I gave most of my DVDs away since they're not doing anything but collecting dust and school is hindering any free time I have.
lazario... im like you. my brothers kids arent allowed near my dvds. theyll have sore backsides if i ever see them remove one from the tower.
its an adult collection, and will remain one until i decide to sell a title for whatever reason. i sold a copy of balto due to a double up, and it was to be given to a pre schooler.
i pride myself on taking care of things. most of mine only have the faint marks they get just from being watched, none are scratched too badly except for the second hand ones ive found in thrift shops.

I freak out too. Though eventually, sometimes, I get over it. In certain cases. My whole problem is reckless people. Just because a movie you're watching on DVD means nothing to you does not mean it means nothing to the person the disc belongs to. And we all know as Disney fans and I know as a serious horror fan that these discs can go OOP and if you need one replaced someday - you may be screwed. I especially hate renting from Netflix. I'm still paranoid about playing rented, scratched DVD's in my player. Who's to say that playing scratched discs can't have a negative effect on a player?Scarred4life wrote:I'm the same way. If any one of my disks has a scratch on it, I freak out. And if my family has left a DVD out of it's case, they'd better watch out.![]()
That being said... I do want to say something that shocked me. When I rented Alice, Sweet Alice from them... the disc came to me and there was barely a scratch on it. It was like brand new. Maybe it was brand new. Maybe no one else had rented it. Gotta love obscure films!

Heck no. I still have the same disc I was talking about before. When I get a disc from Netflix, it stays at my place for at least a month and a half. Not sure how long it's been so far. But I can't send it out 'til at least next weekend. And then it takes 3 days to get the next one, plus Sunday (4).Goliath wrote:Lazario, have you rented Lilo & Stitch already?
I'll see what I can do until then. Maybe it's up on YouTube. If so, I can definitely watch it there.
This 'Tuber seems to have 16 videos for what they call Lilo & Stitch... Check it out, is this the real movie? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o19Jjqhdyfo
