I'll be picking it up. We can have a UD Alice in Wonderland release party in the Off Topic forum!

I think those details are, aside from Pig and Pepper and Reflections on Alice, just the ME details reprinted without any real knowledge. To be perfectly honest, I doubt that they'd really port the Virtual Tea Party or the Sing-Along-Songs over.

DVD retailers are really cashing in on renewed 'Wonderland' mania, with the 1933 Universal movie version (starring Cary Grant, W.C. Fields and Charlotte Henry as Alice), the 1966 BBC TV version with Anne-Marie Mallik; and the documentary "A Look into Alice's Adventures..." which will also include the surviving portions of the 1903 silent movie version and the 1915 silent.

My big question - where the *beep* is "Dreamchild"? I sold my video years ago and would love to see it finally surface on DVD...

Maybe they called it 'Un-Anniversary Edition' as a hint that there will be an 'Anniversary Edition' sometime next year?

Would be weird considering what they did with Snow White but this is not a Diamond title. Also Burton's version will be out this year with possible 3D next year. Disney can't be thinking that far ahead although if they did it would be very wise on their part.

30-Mar-10 Release Alice after it's popularity has risen from Burton's AIW.
00-Oct-10 Tim Burton's 2Disc 2D AIW releases
00-Mar-11 Release 3D Blu-Ray of Burton's AIW 1 year Anniversary (lol) & back up with Blu Ray release of Alice in Wonderland (could even be 3D)

So they get the remaining DVDphiles on board. Blu-Ray enthusiasts who are sore also get it because it has improvements (likely from extra features and the transfer that they've already done for HD, as long as they don't drop anything) Then Burton's comes around and the popularity of AIW is already renowned once again. Then after yet another year of Black Friday sales and the likely BR ratio goes up even further or hits mainstream due to possibly recovering economy and HDTV. Then re-release 3D AIW on a special date and those that have jumped to 3D-BR will get it, double dipping within 6 months. Finally release BR of original AIW which racks up all the old BR enthusiasts as well as the DVDphiles who have made the transition.

Greedy corporation business tactics.

^ For Enigma, Brenders and Scaps for making this thread so extra hilarious.

As for the DVD, I like the cover, but no Blu-ray, no buy.

Revised cover-art, from Amazon.com! Even better! :D

EDIT: just pre-ordered it! Never had the Masterpiece Edition, so this one's gonna be just fine in my collection, no double-dip!

I like the revised artwork better, still don't understand why this is not coming to Blu!?

Indeed, that's much better. I was on the fence as to whether or not I preferred it over the Masterpiece Edition's cover, but that revision sealed it for me: this is my favorite cover for any incarnation of the film on home video. I certainly wouldn't mind if it became the Blu-ray cover, whenever the heck that release is coming (though what's the deal with gipping the Dormouse yet again?).

But Alice still isn't in the middle! :p

But seriously, it's not bad. I guess I forgot to mention I probably won't be picking this one up as I already have the previous edition, but no big.

I have to be honest, I really prefer Alice's pose from the first cover.

Bleh, the cover art! They might as well just call it the "Mad Hatter Shill Edition".

THAT'S ALL IT IS.

Personally, I still prefer the Masterpiece Edition's cover.... it was more simplistic and lovely, I think. Especially with Alice looking all day-dreamy, which is really just perfect. But this looks pretty good too.

Alice in Wonderland: Special Un-Anniversary Edition

Post by Disney Duster »

Alice was much more on-model in the previous cover, but at least the Hatter looks better.

Even though it's not a big deal for you, can't you agree the cover would be better if Alice (and her chair) was in the middle?

Yet I still like the cover. I liked the Masterpiece one better, but that's my personal taste, though I think the dark shadowy feeling of Wondeland was displayed in that one better, as well as the title treatment.

Yes.

Please fix the cover. :D

Speaking with my eyebrows alone
I'll bring you cheese, So "licks" it
Here's Alice, so fix it--
Let make a Rube Goldberg ma-chiiiiiine

(to the tune of "Candle on the Water," if you were wondering.... And yes, I totally failed at rhyming that one line. )

Let me work on that third line...

Though how one mixes cheese, I don't know. Maybe melt two together and stir clockwise twelve times.
