I wish Mr. Bluth would use the concept art for something. A book of concept art from his finished and unfinished projects would be wonderful!

I heard that too several years ago. Probably around the same time I found out The Land Before Time is ten minutes shorter than originally planned because scenes considered too scary for kids got cut.

One thing I heard about Dragon's Lair is that Dirk is supposed to lose his voice.

I've been really interested in the Don Bluth films lately, after getting Anastasia and The Secret of NIMH on Blu-ray (All Dogs Go to Heaven is on the way, too ;)). I'd seen a few of his films on VHS and DVD previously, but lately they have been appealing to me more and more.

Anyone think there is any chance we'll see at least one more film from Don during his lifetime? His history in animation is filled with stories of studio bankruptcies, so I am not sure that anyone at this point would take the chance in backing his work, which is a shame.

His most recent work was on the iPhone/iPod/iPad video game Tapper World Tour. I believe I read that it was his hope that the potential financial success of this game would lead to more work in feature animation, as Dragon's Lair and Space Ace had done for him in the 80's.

I am not sure if this is true, but on the Don Bluth Wikipedia entry it states:
On March 22, 2011, Anastasia was released to Blu-ray Disc. The high-charting release, as well as an increase in sales for other Bluth-directed titles, has sparked interest for a return to his as-yet unconfirmed 12th directorial feature.
It'd be a great if this panned out, as I would definitly like to see his career in feature animation continue. I think he has a unique visial style and I know that he strongly supports 2D animation, which needs all the help it can get at this point.

Just discovered this clip from a film called Jawbreaker- supposedly an unreleased Bluth film. Typical Bluth characters both animation wise and vocally. :P

Hmm, that's interesting. I always like to hear about animated films that "could have been." There are a few cool pieces of concept art from various Don Bluth productions that never got off the ground on the Don Bluth Films Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id= ... 1301059511

Some titles listed are:
Satyrday
Jason and the Argonauts
The Little Blue Whale

Also, I'd read yesterday that Don was working to bring Dracula to the screen as an animated feature while he was with 20th Century Fox. Not sure if this film would have come after Titan A.E. had the studio not closed or if it was cancelled before that. Don mentioned himself that we'd probably never see concept art for Dracula as it was in the 20th Century Fox vault.

An animated version of Jason and the Argonauts would have been interesting. I've translated that story at school at my Latin or Greec classes I believe.

Thaks Sotiris. One thing I love is how Beauty is crying while the Beast is angry. It's real, and it makes me feel for what I imagine would probably happen if a real person had to face that Beast each night, even after knowing he was kind.

I think in some ways Bluth's Beauty looks more beauty-ful than Disney's, but only by some details and not by much. She's just more what I would have imagined for the character of Beauty and a character who should be one of the most beautiful ever.

The scorceress seems to have a really grossly way too low-cut dress though, lol.

The Beast himself just needs a little work and he'd be perfect.

I think the last picture is supposed to be of one of Beauty's dreams. I think the Prince is wearing a mask so she can't really see who he is, because he's still enchanted, just being with her in her dreams as in the original fairy tale. It's really weird how he saves her from wolves there just like the Disney version, though...

I really would have liked to see this film. And I'd also wish to see a Don Bluth version of actually almost any previously done Disney fairy tale, especially of course my favorite, Cinderella. I mean, Thumbelina had a lot of elements that were Cinderella-like and they were done so beautifully to me. Not better than Disney, but still beautiful and cool in the Bluth style.
