Hey blackcauldron85,

In response to your question....well...what is the "normal" time it takes for eyes to move??

The shot of Sebastian is a close up, which means his head it taking up most of the space onscreen. I havent seen the film, so I dont know what motion is exactly happening...but I would have to assume his eyes are darting back and forth sideways very fast...

Lets say that the speed they required was that every 3 frames, the pupils be on the opposite end of the eye. Then on the first key drawing, the eyes would be on the left, on the third they would be on the right...but where would one put the pupils in drawing #2? One option is to put them right in the middle, but this may not look fluid. By having the smeared drawing be drawing #2, they make sure that the eyes are darting back and forth, and not just jumping from side to side.

Does that make sense?

The Little Mermaid is my favorite as well, but definitely guilty of some lazy technical moments. Couple moments that bother me...

Prince Eric's mouth not moving on the line "No, I won't leave you!" right before giant Ursula pops out from underneath them.

Ariel being barefoot when the shell necklace breaks at her feet, and then wearing black character shoes in the next shot.

The re-used animation in Robin Hood/ Number one reason why I do not like this movie. I mean, I found the story very comical and characters fasinating (sp?), but the amount of re-used animation in this movie is unforgivable!

I saw Robin Hood before the films it stole from [I thought it was only two, Snow White and Banbi] so I didn't know it took so much until I read about it [only bit I noticed was when I first watched Bambi, "those lights/fireflies/whatever they are were in Robin Hood"!].

What does bother me in the Duchess' hair in The Arisocats. Constantly waving and moving about. It really distracts me from her scenes.
