In my case I think it was Hercules. I didn't choose it for any particular reason. I do like the movie but the reason I bought it was because that's when I started my DVD collection and it was one of the few interesting ones and probably just one of the 3 Disney movies Wal Mart was carrying.

I picked Beauty and the Beast because it made Disney animation great again, but I didn't actually buy it, but got it as a Christmas gift. Though I think it is highly overrated, it did have a good story, great vocal casting, and excellent songs to back it up. Plus the digital transfer looked great as far as I could tell.

I don't usually pick up many Disney DVDs, just the 2-disc or Platinums of movies that I've liked. So far, the only future Disney DVDs I'm going to buy are the 2-disc sets of Mulan and Lilo & Stitch, and the Platinum Editions of The Little Mermaid and Bambi. The 2nd Disney DVD I got was the Aladdin 2-disc Platinum Edition.

Yep, the other 2 were: Tarzan (single disc) and the Toy Story 2 Pack... guess who bought those other in the next days?

I think my first Disney DVD was the Aristocats. It's one of my favorite movies, and most of the special editions at the time were OOP. This was around late 2000/early 2001.

I already posted on Page of this thread, but I posted again here, more about my SECOND Disney DVD.

My first Disney DVD was the original A Bug's Life Collector's Edition, released in the fall of 1999 when Toy Story 2 was winning everyone over in theaters.

After that, my next Disney DVD was I'll Be Home for Christmas, ordered unseen and in spite of both low critical expectations and reasonable personal expectations, I was disappointed, but I still have it and it's...okay, I guess.

The first Disney DVD I ever owned was a gift from my cousin - Snow White. It was the reason I asked my grandfather to get me a DVD player for Christmas in 2001. The first Disney DVD I ever BOUGHT with my own money was Beauty and the Beast.

Mine was "A Bug's Life" which was also my very first DVD back in 1999 ! :D. As this's Pixar, my first "real" Disney animated movie on DVD was Mulan and it was a gift.
Chandler (to Phoebe, over the phone) : Listen, Joey isn't gonna be here tonight so why don't you come over and I'll let you uh.. feel my bicep; or maybe more...

It's interesting to try and guess the age of people, as well as when they got into DVDs or Disney based on the responses in this thread. :)

Since I had laserdisc for about 10 years before I got into DVD (April 2000) I thought I would list my Disney laserdiscs first. I'm not sure of the purchase order on them.
Beauty and the Beast: Work in Progress
Fantasia Box Set
Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (in widescreen!)
The Santa Clause (including a scene that has been cut from the DVD)
Snow White & the Seven Dwarves Box Set
Toy Story Box Set
Who Framed Roger Rabbit

My very first and second Disney DVDs (and my second and third of DVDs in general) were Pinnochio (in May 2000) and Lady and the Tramp (in June 2000.)

By 11/18/2000, I had picked up 25 DVDs total, with 5 more Disney titles: The Jungle Book, Snow White, Toy Story UTB, and 101 Dalmations (animated.) It took another year to get another Disney title, and that was the Little Mermaid (free, from a Disney mail-in offer.) Right afterwards, I picked up Dumbo, The Fantasia Anthology, and the first wave of Treasures, with around 100 titles total.

My last Disney purchases were Pirates of the Carribbean and the last wave of Treasures in May 2004. I have 17 of the Disney Classics (and all Pixar releases.)

My first disney dvd was Sword in the Stone, which I bought because it was on sale at Wal*Mart for a great price and I hadn't seen it in a while. I then saw the mail-in coupon in the store for buy 3 get one free, so then I was inclined to purchase another one so I could get Hunchback of Notre Dame for free. I got Sleeping Beauty as a gift for that end.

My first Disney DVD was Snow White (I got the Jungle Book free with it). I bought it because I like the movie and all the special features. I bought it two months before I got my DVD player.

My first Disney DVD was "The Little Mermaid" and I purchased it from www.cduniverse.com in 1999, like a week after it was released. I live in Brazil and, at that time, there was no sign of Disney DVD's being made in Brazil so I didn't think twice before ordering it. I remember that it took 2 weeks to arrive and, when it arrived, I watched it over and over again, I couldn't believe that the quality of the image & sound was so perfect! :)

MY FIRST DISNEY DVD

Post by That1GuyPictures »

My first Disney DVD ever bought was the orginal
WIDESCREEN Banner version of Mary Poppins on August 21st, 1998.
It was so wonderful...I wanted to buy it and so I saved up all the money I could mowing grass and editing videos, and doing chores, and finally I had saved up the $29.99 + tax so that I could buy that Single-Layer disc
(Without Character Artwork on the disc, or even A Disney DVD logo on the package! )

{GRANDPA: IN MY DAYS...
DVD'S COST AS MUCH AS
THE PLAYERS DO NOW!}

Mary's DVD had no bonus features whatsoever...I didn't care...I just wanted a copy of Mary Poppins in Widescreen! The first time I inserted it into my player, I nearly cried.
(Ok...maybe that's a stretch...)

My first DVD I ever bought was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
I bought it in January 1998. Yes...I was one of the first people to have a DVD...but I didn't get my DVD player until December 1998. I had to wait that long............but hey that's because they cost $400 for the player I wanted so I had to wait until Christmas so my parents could buy it for me.
It's the only present I ever got that I actually wanted.

Hmm, I'm thinking the Tarzan CE, but it's possible that it could have been the Sleeping Beauty SE. I honestly can't remember a time where I only owned 1 Disney DVD. I think it was Tarzan though...I remember SB came out 9/9/03 and I was trying to get Tarzan around the same time. I don't know, it was one of those.
