Here's my disney story

Post by TheBionicWoman »

Well I'm 32(born in the glorious year of 1971 8) My mom gave me a mickey mouse disney projector when i was 7. It was gun shaped and had a handle on it and when you cranked it you would see a cartoon of mickey moving. It was the coolest thing I ever had (too bad I still dont have it! lol) Anyway, I didnt watch any disney animated movies until I was 18. I saw the Little Mermaid in 1989 in the theaters I think... Man I fell in love with this movie. I saw it 10 times in the theater and bought it as soon as it came out on vhs. Then I saw some of the other disney animated films (Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Tarzan) these are also favorites of mine. However after Tarzan for me that golden age dimmed. Pocahontas, and Mulan were good but after that...I didnt like the others ex. (Hercules, empereror new groove, and Hunchback, Treasure). I dont know maybe I just like the fairy tales. I plan to buy all the ones I like on dvd later, and I will always love disney for the above films. I also like the older ones (which were before my time which i saw on tv) like alice in wonderland. I will get that in January. Well thats my disney story folks! Take Care
Return of the King is coming, are you ready?

Well here goes.

My name is Mike {for those of you who didnt know the gender and had to keep saying sir/maam} lol.

I'm in my early 20's. I like long walks on the beach, reading....oh wait wrong forum.

I've been a fan of disney since i can remember {i hate introductions, this sounds like an AA meeting}. Growing up in the 80's, i was one of the kids who got to see all the old disney classics on video for the first time. Pinnochio was my first disney film and like most kids i almost drove my parents to drink by playing it every single day. I guess it was that ability to communicate a story that really drew me to disney and followed me my whole life. in high school i loved drama and acting and in college i took my love for creating and writing and became a communications major. ideally at some point there are two companies i'd give anything to work for. The jim henson company or the walt disney company. Hopefully it's a goal that i can someday achieve.

As for other disney info, i LOVE donald duck. One of the few cartoon characters that can actually make me laugh out loud. I honestly kinda got away from disney for a while before emperors new groove got me interested again and then lilo and stitch came out. i wasnt expecting much from the movie but stitch just had me rolling. i finally saw it after my fiancee and and friends convinced me that it was my cartoon incarnation. I dont know whether or not i am offended by that comment yet. I'll ease my ego by believing it was because i can do stitch's voice {and was actually doing it years before the movie even came out}. It's not really that hard, it's basically a modified baby animal voice from the muppet babies.

I consider myself a pretty good disney fan who leans more towards the animation side. though i must admit pirates of the caribbean just became one of my alltime favorite movies. I love all different kinds of cartoons/animation with the exception of japanese anime. it's not a bias, i just had a roommate who was WAAAAAY too into that stuff. Scarred me for life.

Anyways i look forward to chatting with many of you, having a little bit of fun and discussing a mutual hobby. Though if you're a hockey nut feel free to chat as well.

2) Fans of traditional Disney animation first and foremost
3) Nicknamed after one of the best Bass players from one of THE best bands of our generation
4) Fans of hockey (Lets go FLYERS *clap* *clap* *clap-clap-clap*)

Disney Freak? Yeah thats me. I collect as much Disney stuff as i can. I visit Disneyland as much as possible even though its like hundreds of miles away from me. I blame my parents. And so does my husband ,who now thanks to our second childs love for Disney, is starting to warm up to our 3x's a year trips. Poor thing huh. I've been a frequent Disneyland visitor since infant to now. Oh and thanks to my crazy folks I just got my very first Disneyland Annual pass this year for my b-day and x-mas. Looks like 3x's a year just won't be enough this year. Laffs!!! On a more personal note, I'm 26 years old i have 2 boys, actually 3 counting my hubby. Ages 2, 7 and 30. LOL. I'm very new to this forum and look forward to getting to know my fellow Disney crazed compadres.(thats you by the way) As far as my Disney love affair story goes, well like i said i was born into it. I believe my first Disney visit was when i was 4 weeks old. Again , my parents are disney nutts. They got some old school pics of all disney trips. Some of them are a real trip to look at. Man did people ever dress funny in the late 70's early 80's. Even got some cool shots of celebs at Disneyland. I do hope to one day scan them in and post them. So ok. Thats me. If i've left anything out just let me know. BTW my name is jessica but my friends call me JAY :)

Welcome, Jay!

Off topic a bit, I used to fly to San Jose every month from Indianapolis (for almost two years) when I called on Fry's Electronics for the computer book/software publisher I used to work for.

I *hear* it's a neat town. However I never saw more than the area within 4 miles of the airport down by the Fry's Corporate Offices. And that area is less-than-desirable.

 Laffin out loud here!!!
Yeah San Jose is nice. It has everything for everyone. Down side though is that theres a fairly high price to pay for us grown ups to actually live here, but as hard as it is financially to live here i still can't bring myself to leave. Although I wouldnt mind moving to Anaheim. Give you one guess why.

New to the board and Disney in general

Post by Inga Tu Schmista »

Hi!

I'm not as hardcore into Disney as some (or even most) of the others on this board, but I do love the movies...traditional animated, and some of the live-action (especially what's been released this summer so far, with the notable exception of "The Lizzie McGuire Movie").

As you've probably guessed from my screen name and location (I'm working on an avatar of Stitch in his hula outfit), I'm a huge L & S fan. That was actually the movie that occasioned my "Disney Epiphany." Before Stitch, I honestly didn't get how people could be so obsessed with Disney and Disney movies. Then I saw Lilo & Stitch (12 times and counting) and I became a believer. Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois are my new idols. So whenever somebody tries to tell me that traditional animation is dead, I just point out the fact that L & S was made with 60-year-old technology (the watercolor backgrounds &c) and laugh.

One of the few smart things Michael Eisner has said in recent interviews is that the technology doesn't matter as long as the story is good...

Thanks, Luke!

Actually, I won't be completely happy unless its a ten-disc set, but the January SE will still be nice. :)

Looks like Disney's going nuts with special editions next year. At this rate, there could be 2-disc sets of all the animated classics by the time the next DVD format starts hitting stores.

Thanks for the welcome, Loomis!

Got the book already - along with "Aloha" Stitch, the "Alien on Board" car window Stitch, Elvis Stitch, Vampire Stitch (his halloween costume), the Stitch that drools slime, the Junior novelization (which is actually pretty good)...you get the point. :)

Got a Sampler of the DVD Board Game through work - it's kinda fun. The "Lilo" voice sounds too sweet & saccharine to be our lovable yet spooky Daveigh Chase, but other than that, it was a pretty good time.

Ok, I give up. You are the new reigning Monarch of Stitch on this forum :D

But I'm still cute.

And fluffy. :stitch:

And it IS strange to think that Daveigh Chase was the girl in the Ring. Very spooky indeed.
