I think it's very telling that UD's #1 Republican isn't here insulting people, even though he (like I did) had his mind made up months ago. How do you think he feels?

But the person who is on here throwing around insults is not the guy who KNEW who he wanted in the White House, it's the guy who made up their minds 2 days ago and has decided to defend his choice even to the death of his long membership on a great forum. None of us are really against your choice, I don't think. If that was the choice you decided to make, that's fine (with me at the very least.)

I would have rather Hilary than Obama myself. But it is what it is. And thank you for that insight Dave. Obviously the person preaching wrong decisions didn't even take enough time to research. I was on the fence till about a 2-3 months ago. I certainly don't hate McCain at all. I liked him. I thought he'd make a great president, then he chose Palin as his VP. She makes Bush seem lucid. And then I began to second guess McCain. His choice in a VP was very poor. What other poor choices would he make? Palin seemed fake to me, McCain seemed unhealthy. I was afraid if McCain passed, Palin would be president. In all her winking, fake glory.

Even as I filled in that circle today, I prayed it was the correct decision. I prayed, he is the one to fix this country. And tonight, I am confident I made the right decision.

Its been a long road. But no one deserves to be belittled here. Especially by someone spouting old fake news.

After all, like it or not, there will always be people in life who will not like you, and who you will not like. But at the same time, there will be people who adore you, and people who you have great respect for. Even though this is just the internet, where people feel they can say things and hide behind the screen, the truth is sometimes it will hurt. Sometimes you'll say something rather flippant, and it will be taken the wrong way. Sometimes you might read an opinion that's so enormously out there, you feel you have to reach across the screen and shake the person silly for saying something so ridiculously stupid.

It's not easy to have to read verbal attacks, and it's not easy when you re-read one you wrote towards someone else.

You obviously didn't listen to the eloquent endorsement of President elect Obama by General Colin Powell who crossed party lines & condemned the type of speech heard so much in the last several weeks at McCain's rallies implying that he is a terrorist and a Muslim. I don't believe even you believe he's a terrorist and as Powell said what is wrong with being a Muslim IF he were one? What of the Muslim mother who wept at the grave of her son who died in Iraq defending this country 4 years after 9/11 when he turned 18? MOST Muslims are peaceful. You only have to be born in America & 35 to be elected president. You do not have to be a Christian. Do you have a problem with Jews? How about Buddhists, agnostics, atheists, Muslims etc...? You repeat his last name over and over because he due to an accident of birth shares a name with a dead leader of a country who was our enemy (except for the times when he was not). If a Muslim wins the presidencey someday will that diminish this country? I think as with this glass ceiling that it would tell the world we are a Democracy and all who obey the laws and love our country can do and BE anything. Your posts made me nauseous. I guess its more of a downer to add to what should be a very happy night for Obama supporters. I just feel bummed about it. Maybe its just me, and my area, or what I've read online tonight.

I'm really glad Obama won, but the whole race thing is now really picking up. From things I've read online, to stuff on TV. It just upsets me that we can't get over this and accept Obama for what he is... the President-Elect.

I just have very mixed feelings right now. I really hope we get the "change" that we need.

This is true. It is history, and a big deal to a lot of people. I just feel the constant reminder of it every few minutes on the news tonight is going to have a backlash. I honestly pray it doesn't happen, but I just don't see it not happening in some form after hearing/reading some things tonight (I've already seen/heard some of it from a few different sides to the argument tonight.). Its sad... Again I pray that I'm wrong.

On the McCain thing. You know he's not that bad of a guy. His speech tonight was well done. I really like the fact that he seems to stand up for the new President. When people started to boo Obama, he tried to respectfully calm them down. Same thing when he corrected the lady about Obama earlier in the campaign. McCain earned some respect from me tonight. I don't think he would have won the election, however I think he could have done better. He came across as angry to a lot of people, and Palin hasn't helped him at all.

I agree, all I've heard is constant talk about how he's the first, and people go on and on about his race. Yet not one person I have talked to has even mentioned anything about hoping he does a good job or that he's the right man I find it ridiculous, he may be the first but that means nothing if he does a bad job. Time will tell how good of a job he does though.

Personally, I wouldn't have given him my vote I see him and I think "what's the big deal?".

Thank god the election is over so all the constant campaigns will cease. I remember seeing ET and how they dug out a picture of Palin in a bathing suit and it absolutley disgusted me at how they could dig into her personal life and flash it around and use it like that.
