^ I agree about the Incredibles teaser trailer being the best.

For me, I like Mater. I think he's so adorable and funny. Imagine him as a spy...it should be funny. So I guess I'm less apprehensive about the spy thing just because it is Mater.

Hopefully it's better than his human voice over guy doing Spy comedies but I realize that and that are 2 totally differ things..maybe that's why im a little about this idea....while the Cars 2 may be a great end product....that trailer could be one of the worst.

I think that it's great, I mean, all of the Pixar teasers generally have absolutely nothing to do with the final product, and though I know that Mater is a spy, Lightning will just be competing. Can't wait!

We shouldn't judge the movie by this teaser. Having said that this must be the lamest teaser for a Pixar movie I've ever seen. And
I consider myself a huge Pixar fan...

My only hope is that this is some sort of teaser rushed for the home video
release of Toy Story 3 rather than what they are going to show before Tangled.

Since that new teaser trailer came out...I've kept thinking where have I heard this similar plot of average guy and a spy being a look a like and the average guy goes undercover because he looks like an incredible double of the real spy

it's been done like a gazillion times already. I can honestly say that Cars 2 looks lame. I'm more interested in Kung Fu Panda 2. The original was better than Cars.

And I usually despise Dreamworks but let's face it, DW is unleashing a sequel to their best film to compete with a sequel to Pixar's worst.

Funny how, in a year filled with animated sequels (Cars 2, Kung Fu Panda 2, Puss in Boots, Winnie the Pooh), Rio and The Borrower Antiquity are the two animated films next I'm most looking forward to. But, I'm interested in the others as well, particularly Pooh and Puss.

I love Mater too! My favorite character on "Cars", which was an excellent movie.

Hello Pixar fans! As you might know from a couple other posts here, I work with Disney and am on here to chat with you about our upcoming movies....Cars 2 included. It's been interesting to read your thoughts on the sequel and the teaser. I definitely understand your fears, but keep your faith in Pixar! Please wait until we release more trailers, clips, art, and the story before writing us off :)

Plus...have you heard who some of the voices are? Besides Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy reprising their roles, we have the great Michael Caine voicing British spy "Finn McMissle" and John Turturro as "Francesco." I think these international cars would be great complements to our southern boys, don't you think?

Why Pixar? Why make a sequel to your worst recieved movie, when you could make one to Finding Nemo, Bugs Life, or some other Pixar movie (besides Toy Story. I think you've made too much money with that franchise...)

I don't see them making sequels to A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo. The former, because it seems like Pixar almost considers that their black sheep considering it's never mentioned in the sequels and the latter, because how can you follow that story up? Nemo getting lost again?

The most logical Pixar film for a sequel is The Incredibles, but Brad Bird is currently busy with Mission: Impossible IV and he probably wants to also get working on 1906. So, if we do get that one, might not be for a while.

Pixar is working on a Monsters Inc. sequel.

I think we all should reserve our criticism of Cars 2 until actually seeing it. After seeing the four excellent and innovative films released since the original Cars, I have the faith in the company to make this a good or very good sequel. One of the best runs in film history (not just animated either - name a movie studio who has put out four movies as good as Ratatouille/WALL-E/Up/Toy Story 3 in a span of four years.) I'm not the biggest fan of the original Cars either, but you are a fool if you honestly think freaking Happy Feet was better.

I agree. Cars was not Pixar's best film (same goes for A Bugs Life), but it deserved the Oscar more than Happy Feet, which was too preachy IMO. I would also wait until the sequel actually comes out before passing judgement on it.

I'll just come out and say it, as much as I love Pixar every time they release a new teaser or plot summary I get worried. Cars 2 is no exception. My problem is that there are TWO plots within the main narrative. You have Lightning's around the world race then Mater's secret agent plot, and the two will be intertwined. Plots like this often lead to disastrous results because the story has to hop between plots.

Pixar may be able to pull it off, but I will have to wait and see.

You don't think DreamWorks and Fox also don't twist the marketing of their films? I saw Megamind today and there was an interesting emotional layer found underneath that wasn't presented anywhere in the marketing.

What you are talking about is what some people call "emotional manipulation" in which they show you the scenes that get you excited. They do this with nearly all movies. They don't show story scenes, but scenes that get the most attention. Even in movies like "The Social Network" they show you the scenes that create the most impact.
